67 Comments:

  • yay, first one to post! i think that these are some of my favorite pictures. the first one is so incredibly adorable...aww, baby bren-bear...=D i love his smile in the second one, with all that camo paint on...haha. and the third is soo cute! it's great to put a face with the wonderful sender of the pictures! thanks again mrs. h! -erin

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 12/14/2004 11:11 AM

  • I absolutely ADORE the Bren & Mama Bear pic! Now I know where Bren get's his good looks from..Mama Bear is a fox! =) I am convinced this whole family must be gorgeous.

Baby Bren is cute too! And as for number 2, you gotta love a boy in uniform!

Yippee! 24 more hours of our pic fix!

OK, back to stalking Bob Schaller at USA Swimming for me..

By Blogger Stephie Mc, at 12/14/2004 11:13 AM

  • Wow, that third pic killed me. You beat me to it, Steph. Mrs. H, you're gorgeus. And there's something about a guy dancing with his mom *sighs*

I'm back from the doctor. Good news: I don't have mono. Bad news: I still have tonsillitis. It's yet another type. I'm having a really bad luck streak...

So, Pumpkin, if you ever feel like making this poor, tired, lovely fan of your from Argentina (who has been sick for almost a month and a half) happy, so her rest in bed while all her friends are having fun outside can be much much better... you know what I want. Pretty please, a tattoo pic? Just one tiny pic...

And I'm about to email this person at USA Swimming telling them the reason of my non stop sickness is that I don't have those 20 questions.

BTW, seriously, I'm a flowerholic. My house looks like a flower shop by now. It took all my remain strenght to resist buying yet another bouquet when I left the hospital.

By Blogger Lena, at 12/14/2004 11:23 AM

  • Wow. Those are so..... Well, I must tell you that I can't wipe the smile off my face. The little blondie-bear baby is like heaven. Is that innocent victim in the background a Gpop? The middle one makes me laugh because he is really smiling so huge there. He just lights up when he smiles! Did he ever go through an awkward age? It doesn't seem to me that he did. At least not in the visual department. I do love the dancing with B-mom shot. Good call Michelle. He looks divine in that and what a beautiful woman Mrs. H is. Look at at the way her entire hand is encircled in his. The toiger has enormous paws. And she doesn't look like she is afraid of getting her feet stomped at all! He must be a good dancer too..... Thanks ever so for shareing these snaps.

By Blogger lala, at 12/14/2004 11:31 AM

  • ok, so that last pic killed me. killed me dead. nothing is better than seeing a boy and his momma together.

lena--glad to hear you are on the mend. also, very happy that it isnt mono. that could've knocked you out for a loong time. feel betterer!!

By Blogger Sarah, at 12/14/2004 11:31 AM

  • Wow -- Toooo much cuteness in one post thats for sure! New favorite pic now, Brendan and Mrs. H. Now its usually someone saying "Oh you have such a good looking son..." but now we can say to Brendan "You have such a beautiful mother" ! :o)

I have to agree with Lena on that there is just something about a son dancing with his mom that can melt any girls heart ;) That picture is just so adorable beyond words.

*Lena -- Thank god you dont have mono! I had its for 7 years...and lord it was not fun. No fun having tonsillitis though...feel better :o)

By Blogger Kim, at 12/14/2004 11:37 AM

  • Lena, I'm glad to hear that you don't have mono. That would have not been fun. I've never had it myself, but have had several friends who had. Not pleasant in the least. Hope you're fully on the mend soon!

Great pics as always. I think this might just be my favorite bunch so far. It's great to finally put a face to a name, Mrs. H. I can see where Brendan gets his good looks! Such a cute picture of the two of you! Thank you again for sharing all these wonderful pictures with us.

By Blogger afadingvoice, at 12/14/2004 11:39 AM

  • Awww he dances! And he looks like he dances way better than Aaron/Ian Thorpe. Awww!

    By Blogger a, at 12/14/2004 11:45 AM

  • So cute! Too cute! And it looks like there might be some coordination in those big feet after all. Know what they say about a man who can dance.....

By Blogger Dana, at 12/14/2004 11:51 AM

  • Stephie Mc-I agree, I am starting to believe that the whole Hansen family is gorgeous! The pic of Bren and Mrs. H just-stole my heart! Thanks for all the pics, they just keep getting better and better.

By Blogger LongHornLove, at 12/14/2004 11:53 AM

  • there IS something soo charming about a guy dancing with his mom. so sweet. the second picture reminds me of my little brother and the first?..adorable. great way to start off the day

By Blogger jenny, at 12/14/2004 12:04 PM

  • I think that has to be Grandpop in the background of the first picture. The resemblance is amazing.

By Blogger Michelle, at 12/14/2004 12:09 PM

  • I just realised that that Argent ad is doing Phelps no favours...

Topic? Now we know what he could look like when he's older.

By Blogger Dana, at 12/14/2004 12:26 PM

  • Yes, Michelle, that is Grandpop in the back of the first photo. And not that I'm looking for kudos, but I was the photographer in the 3rd shot. You can't see my sister's hands, but it is she who passed them on to her son...they are huge! (her feet as well...sorry Momma H.)

Lena, I have a nursing background. Make sure you are not allergic to those flowers...and maybe check that the ventilation is good in your home. (Avoid overly moist air to prevent bacteria/mold). Otherwise, keep bugging your MD...

    Hope everyone else is well...

By Blogger Aunt "C", at 12/14/2004 12:40 PM

  • You do good work Aunt C! I love that picture and couldn't wait to post it.

By Blogger Michelle, at 12/14/2004 12:51 PM

  • Like mother, like son, raising a glass to toast the power of good-looking genetics, and also the rigor of Michelle in her scanning and uploading :) Love these pix ... Dana Number 3 :)

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 12/14/2004 1:08 PM

  • Aw, you can just feel the love from the third pic. There's nothing like seeing a guy dance with his mother (or a girl dance with her father). This probably sounds incredibly sappy, but it really does warm the heart. And you look great Mrs. H!

(On a sidenote, Aunt C, I'm thinking of going into nursing. Any kind words of wisdom you can offer me? Feel free to ignore this if you want. =) )

Back to the pictures, I think I'm gonna be the only one with a smile on my face when I take my final in an hour!

By Blogger Janine, at 12/14/2004 1:31 PM

  • Aunt C, thanks so much for your thoughts and concern. I'm not allergic to flowers and I always try to have the place ventilated to change the air around. I'm avoiding all places that have air conditioning by now, not to mention trying to keep the house clean, dry, ventilated and without infection going around.
It's tirening, but I'm starting to feel a little better

    And great pics.

btw: Phelps' face in that Argent really scares me.

By Blogger Lena, at 12/14/2004 1:34 PM

  • Looking at all these pictures, I'm thinking these could have been taken just yesterday. But then I remember that Brendan is an 80s baby--so it WAS just yesterday! HA! *shuffles off to my retirement community in Florida*

By Blogger BeachGirl, at 12/14/2004 2:42 PM

  • Janine, nursing is a great field to get into. There are many different areas to keep you interested and the hours are flexible for family life. The $$$ is great right out of school. The downside might be the lack of opportunities for advancement and the fact that seniority only adds to your income to a point. If you further your education after getting your degree (Nurse Practioner, etc.) the $$$ is even better.
Right now I am not currently working, although I filled in for 6 weeks as a school nurse a while back. The good point about this career is that even with stopping work to raise a family, you can get back into it without too much trouble because the need for RNs is great.
    Good luck!

By Blogger Aunt "C", at 12/14/2004 2:43 PM

  • Aw, I'll 17th the motion of loving the dancing photo and recognizing that Mrs. H is one beautiful lady!

Toddlers in overalls = one of my all time favorite looks. You have no idea how many pairs of overalls I bought for my nephews when they were little. (I myself stopped counting.) And it really doesn't get much cuter than a blond curly haired baby in overalls. Unless he grows up to be an attractive world record holding swimmer dancing with his mom.

Thanks Aunt C for the great pics, and again to Mrs H for sharing!

By Blogger crackinup, at 12/14/2004 3:24 PM

  • Wow, you guys are soooo good for my ego. Thank you very much for your wonderful comments. I think I am going to print them out, post them on my refrig. for my whole family see. I sent this in bc of Aunt C suggestion. Hoping to see all you as well. I knew I was a dead give-away with my dance partner. Mrs.H

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 12/14/2004 4:40 PM

  • I completely agree with all of you! How cute is baby Bren-Bear? AHHHHHHH! I am having trouble believing Mrs. H has THREE children. Wow! She is very beautiful. The Hansen family must have some great genes. Athleticism and beauty...must be nice! I must say that along with those two qualities they seem to be very nice. I met Brendan in Indy at the world championships, and I have to give props to Mrs. H for raising such a nice guy! He signed autographs for a good 45 minutes, at times in the middle of the street!(that scared me a little since I am from Indiana, I know Indy drivers won't stop...even for olympic hero's!)So anyway thanks for sharing the pictures, they are adorable.

By Blogger Kimberly, at 12/14/2004 5:00 PM

  • I've had several bloggers send their pics in already and several more on the way. Everyone else who wants to participate needs to get moving. It's going to be fun and y'all don't want to miss out. For those worried about protecting their "anonymity", GET OVER IT! I mean, send a baby picture instead :D.

By Blogger Michelle, at 12/14/2004 5:46 PM

  • I'm working on it, Michelle. Actually, I have people working on it. Give me time, I'm sick...

Mrs H. You should print them out because they're true. You look beautiful. And you already now how we feel about your dance partner.

By Blogger Lena, at 12/14/2004 5:53 PM

  • I know you are Lena and I can't wait to see them!

By Blogger Michelle, at 12/14/2004 6:00 PM

  • Mrs H - We just call 'em like we see 'em! =)

I can't wait to see everyone. It will be good to put names with faces. Although, I must say, I myself am having a nervous breakdown over this one, but decided to participate anyway. I figure if worse comes to worse, Aunt K could lend me some meds once Michelle puts the pics up! =)

By Blogger Stephie Mc, at 12/14/2004 6:20 PM

  • Thanks for the info Aunt C! I'm really gonna look more into nursing, especially since there's such a huge shortage in California. The flexibility/time for family life you mentioned are definitely some things I'd like in the future. :)

When's the deadline to send in the pics again? I don't think I'll be able to do it til Thursday.

By Blogger Janine, at 12/14/2004 7:25 PM

  • Janine - the "unofficial" deadline is Christmas Day so you've got plenty of time left. There were several people who needed time to get their photos from their parents house.

By Blogger Michelle, at 12/14/2004 8:05 PM

  • Michelle, I thought you'd said the deadline was Christmas! I'm going home on Thursday, so I'll be able to look for baby pictures. I found a couple of adult ones I like.

By Blogger BeachGirl, at 12/14/2004 8:13 PM

  • I would love to share a baby pic , but no scanner...hmmm.

By Blogger LongHornLove, at 12/14/2004 9:19 PM

  • This post has been removed by a blog administrator.

By Blogger Maria, at 12/14/2004 9:37 PM

  • I love all these pics, =). I have to agree that I don't think that Bren Bear ever went through that 'awkward' phase, there is just no way.

Baby Bear has such cute cheeks...and his 'fro' (adorable), :). Is Brendan going hunting in the second pic or was he dressing up for Halloween? The third pic is my fav. as well.

Have ya'll noticed that he's holding Mama Bear's hand near his heart, =). *swoon*

Talk about a good looking familia, ;).

By Blogger Maria, at 12/14/2004 9:45 PM

  • Late to the posting party; stupid finals are bringing me down! At least these were a nice reward for studying!

I think this was one of my favorite rounds so far. BabyBren is absolutely adorable. And the last picture, I seriously stopped and stared; there really is just something amazing about a guy with his mom. Great camera work Aunt "C"! And it is easy to see where Brendan gets his good looks Mrs. H!

    Lena-hope you feel better soon!

    By Blogger lizook12, at 12/14/2004 9:47 PM

  • hey hey pumkin here
I just had to post one more time. I have to admit when I was little I should have used those curls and cheeks to get my way. what ever happened to me. Gosh I havent seen these picture in such a long time. I am hoping my mom sends some more, especially my favorite one of my brother and i when we were little with the sunset in the back...she knows what i am talking about...lets see if she produces. Going to bed a hybernating Bren Bear

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 12/14/2004 10:18 PM

  • Oh we've seen that pic in question Brendan...it's here somewhere, :). And yes, it's a fav pic here as well, =).

    Happy Holidays!!

By Blogger Maria, at 12/14/2004 10:28 PM

  • Okay Brendan... we are simpatico. I just wrote a post about a half hour ago saying "Brennnnnndannnnn come out and Plaaaayyyyyyyy!" But then I thought better of it and didn't post it. And I believe that your Mom and Michelle already posted that picture of you and your brother on December 8th. Unless there are more like that two sweet boys in grey hoodies at sunset. One of my faves too!
It's nice to hear from you!

By Blogger lala, at 12/14/2004 10:39 PM

  • Yeah I can see why its your fave picture...its too sweet for words! You can always use those looks now;)

By Blogger LongHornLove, at 12/14/2004 10:40 PM

  • This post has been removed by a blog administrator.

By Blogger Kimberly, at 12/14/2004 10:42 PM

  • This blog does not like me...ugh! Anyway, I said I didn't think that we could love him anymore and then he went and said "going to bed a hybernating Bren-Bear!" AHHHHHHHHH. That right there just got me over the suckiness of finals!

By Blogger Kimberly, at 12/14/2004 10:48 PM

  • Hey Bren....glad to see you posted tonight....don't hibernate too long. And I think you are being a silly bear tonight either that or you are working out too much....your favorite pic was already posted earlier this week...or maybe it was last week. Sort of lost track of time...since I spent the entire day shopping with your mom....the Olympian of shoppers!!

Michelle, my pics are in the mail tomorrow...and wonder what Aunt C will think of what I send ?? (hey 'C' remember how you weren't naming names...but reference Aunt K ....well it is payback time...you wouldnt believe the pics I am sending...I am actually sending two, the second is a tiny payback for our older sister who's feet you called big).

Steph, can't give you any meds...because Aunt C may need them when pics get posted.

Not to worry Michelle...or 'C'....besides, I really am reserving all the meds in case WC are in LB.

By Blogger Aunt K, at 12/14/2004 10:51 PM

  • hey, sorry if this was already answered but where do we send the pictures Michelle if we dont have a scanner?...and Bren posted!!..yay!

By Blogger jenny, at 12/14/2004 11:04 PM

  • Jenny, email/contact Michelle at locarbdesign@juno.com, she will tell you where to send the pics...hope this helps.

By Blogger Aunt K, at 12/14/2004 11:22 PM

  • omg, i LOOOVE this site! it is so addicting...i get on like every couple of hours just to read what everyone posts. everyone here is so awesome...especially bren...=D yay! he posted! still looking for a picture...not sure if i should send a baby one, of a regular one...hmmm...erin.

By Blogger erin, at 12/14/2004 11:40 PM

  • w00t! b-han commented. and brendan-that pic of you and your bro is definitely one of the best. its very cute

haha..poor aunt c. i guess its true what they say about payback!

you hansen's are the coolest. you all remind me so much of my famliy, i love it. aunt k, you and my aunt steph are so similar its scary.

By Blogger Sarah, at 12/14/2004 11:50 PM

  • I know you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover but honestly with that shirtless/dog picture, all the fishing ones, and dancing with Mrs. H- gosh how could Brendan be more perfect?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 12/15/2004 1:11 AM

  • December 14, 2004; 10:18 p.m. -- Brendan refers to himself as both Pumpkin *and* Bren Bear in the same post. A loud *THUD* is heard, as women all over BHO fall off their chairs.

I think we just hit the nickname jackpot. Now Brendan, if you refer to yourself as "Handsome," we will have achieved the nickname hat trick. And if that doesn't cure Lena, I don't know what will.

By Blogger crackinup, at 12/15/2004 1:53 AM

  • Ahh! The third picture just made my day. I can't stop smiling.
=) Well, time for bed. Have a nice day tomorrow everyone!

By Blogger Jen, at 12/15/2004 2:03 AM

  • We better have the Dr. waiting for Lena. She is seriously going to hit the floor when she sees that Brendan referred to himself as "pumpkin" and "Bren-Bear" =)

Aunt K - No worries on the meds. I'm sure I can find a shot of tequilla somewhere! HAHA!

By Blogger Stephie Mc, at 12/15/2004 4:26 AM

  • Oh and crackinup - Bren doesn't have to refer to himself as "Handsome" because I do that enough for him and we all know he is! =) (Although I think I'd seriously have a permanent smile on my face if he did! HA!)

By Blogger Stephie Mc, at 12/15/2004 4:29 AM

  • He hasn't called himself Tiger, Toiger, or Handsome. Although "Handsome Harry" is already given to his brother. I have gotten more mileage off of the idea of calling a 13 year old buddy of mine "Henry Hormone". That name is priceless! The whole B-Family's sense of humor is so much fun!

By Blogger lala, at 12/15/2004 4:54 AM

  • See what happens when you sleep from noon to 10 at night. I just had enough time to get to work and I end up missing all the good stuff. I must say again, Darn 3rd shift! I laughed about the payback time. I knew there would be pics following the whole innocent victim thing. Good for you,Aunt K! Actually,I'm thinking it will good for us too. All the best dirt and stuff comes from your family...lol.

I'm glad Bren isn't bothered by all the pics on here. But then again none are bad like alot of my early pictures. Goodness,I love the head of curls. I got all twitterpated over the pic of Bren and Mrs.H. It's hard not to adore a guy that dances with his momma. I agree with whoever commented on his hands. If a guy has nice hands it says alot about them. Tick,tick,tick...watching clock and waiting on new pics.

Michelle,my pics are on the way. Hope they are what you were looking for. :D

  • whoops - this may be a repeat post? I am not a good blogger and I have no idea what I am doing - but Aunt K and Mrs. H encouraged me to do this instead of lurking thru the site! oh well!
    (Hi Aunt C!)
Ladies- you are too funny - makes my day go by so much faster!
I am a friend of the family, and they are AWESOME! the whole lot of them!
Bren is an amazing guy, and his looks/talent aside, I'd say his best trait is his humor. And big bro Sean, well, he's the whole package - hot, funny, smart, hot, sweet, hot. did I say hot?
A little bird told me some more pics are on the way...
btw - Lena, I lived in Argentina for awhile, in Rosario, are you anywhere near there? You have no idea how much I miss the cookies - alfahores, Nueve?? de Oro? i forget the name - they are honey flavored and came in a blue bag. I had a slight obsession w/those!
    Later girlies!

    By Blogger swimphilly78, at 12/15/2004 8:22 AM

  • Michelle and Mrs. Hansen-
Thanks for making this such a great Hanukkah! The 6 days of pictures you shared were great presents! I'm looking forward to Christmas, too! Thanks to the Hansens for giving the fans a glimpse at the private side of a champion. As always, Michelle, you are doing a great public service!!!!!

By Blogger No Good User Names Left, at 12/15/2004 8:23 AM

  • Y'know at first I was hesitant to call Brendan Bren Bear or Pumpkin (well not that, that's not for me) or any of the other nicknames on the blog, especially since I knew he was reading this. But if he's going to refer to himself that way, then who am I not to?

So hi Bren Bear! (hee!) Wow, that feels so much better. And thinking about it, at meets, if you suddenly meet 20 women who all call you Bren Bear or Tiger, well then you'll know it's us, right? ;)

By Blogger JHD, at 12/15/2004 8:48 AM

  • Aww, sooo cute! (It seems like ALL my posts here say that now, I am such a softie). On top of being tech-savvy Ms. H looks fabulous to boot.

By Blogger Verbal, at 12/15/2004 10:16 AM

  • Wheeeeee! Someone nominate me for a Pulitzer!

    ROFL.

By Blogger Michelle, at 12/15/2004 10:26 AM

  • This post has been removed by a blog administrator.

By Blogger blairbecky, at 12/15/2004 10:29 AM

  • Well,I tried to post this before but it didn't seem to work. So if this is a repeat sorry. Swimphilly, now I'm convinced we need to seen pics of Sean. Is he really that hot?? Darn it,two Hansens guys to drool over. I don't know if I can handle it. Thanks for finally posting. Don't hide,we don't bite...lol. Well, not most of the time. Now I can't remember what I said before. Old age is getting me in the memory department. It was probally something goofy.

Lena,I hope you are feeling better today. Hope you get over it soon because it's a shame to be sick during the holiday.

By Blogger blairbecky, at 12/15/2004 11:21 AM

  • You have no idea what this means to me. I just got back from the hospital again. I woke up with all my face swollen. Turns out, I have a huge infection on my tonsils (I'm so sueing the other hospital). I just got an intramuscular shot of medicine and the results on this other type of mono are next week. Did I mention cronic anemia too?

Did I mention I really don't care now. Because Pumpkin posted! And he called himself Pumpkin and Bren Bear... my two nicknames... You really made my day, Brendan, thanks.

All of you did, this blog is amazing.

To Bren's friend: I live in Buenos Aires, 350km away from Rosario. And Nueve de Oro are the type of salad cookis you eat with mate. Do you like mate?
And then alfajores are the sweet ones. The ones I'm trying to offer Brendan as a payment for a tattoo pic. So, you talk him into accpeting this OK?

Thanks Pumpkin, you really made my day.

By Blogger Lena, at 12/15/2004 11:21 AM

  • I'm sorry to hear you are sick Lena - especially around the holidays! what a bummer. I will do my best to persuade your "pumpkin" for a tattoo pic...maybe with some of those cookies, and hearnig you arent feeling well, that might actually do the trick! ;)
I love BA - I have about 400 pics of the Casa Rosada and Evitas tomb, and the soccer - sorry, futbol - game. I miss it!

    By Blogger swimphilly78, at 12/15/2004 12:10 PM

  • oh and blairbecky - I will see what I can do about the sean pics - I heard there might be some pics on the way, not sure if he's in one or two. he's shy, I might have to get permission. ;)

    By Blogger swimphilly78, at 12/15/2004 12:13 PM

  • k, last post before I get fired - yes I LOVE mate!

    By Blogger swimphilly78, at 12/15/2004 12:14 PM

  • Yes, swimphilly78! I'm glad someone in here has been in my city! And you like mate and futbol!! Bren Bear, you really have cool friends.

You keep convincing him taht alfajores and nueve de oro are delicious... I'll work on the trade.

I'm gonna put on my sick face if I have to. :(

By Blogger Lena, at 12/15/2004 1:01 PM

  • Lena - maybe you can give some of those cookies to Sean so we can get a pic.

I'm shy too so I understand. (No, no I am. Really I am!)

By Blogger Stephie Mc, at 12/15/2004 1:08 PM

  • hmm..now Lena and SwimPhilly78 have me curious to try these cookies:)
Oh man, if we are lucky enough to view some pics of the other Hansen boy...i dont know..some of us might faint! Haha!
