I'VE GOT MOM MAIL!

Christmas has come early! Brendan's mom sent me some of the BEST pictures of him y'all. But I'm eville and I'm only going to post a few a day. Oh, come on now...you know you can't handle them all at once. It's for your own good. I only BARELY survived the experience myself. I've selected 3 of my favorites for today...

Brendan's mom says this is Brendan's favorite picture of he and his brother Sean...so cute. It appears as though the Hansen's only make good looking babies. Good for them!



Brendan in what appears to be the same Superman shirt he wore for 2000 Trials. Is that right mom? He also appears to be shaving his legs. I guess that answers the eternal question - do they wax, Nair or shave?



The picture that USA Swimming should have put in their calendars. They'd have sold a lot more of them. Shirtless Brendan with a puppy...I'm assuming it's Jack...does it get any better than that?

    I remember reading somewhere that the swimmers shave because it lifts a layer of dead skin, helping them get smoother & faster. Or, I could have made that up, I'm not sure. Brendan? Confirm/deny?

  • You're so eville Michelle! But posting a few a day is a good idea, so we don't pass out all at once! Those are some great pictures. It's so nice of Brendan's mom to let us see them (Thanks Mrs. H!).

    Brendan and his brother in matching hoodies is so cute--such bright blue eyes! The puppy one is great too--he looks very model-esque in that one. And hee, the shaving pic is funny.

  • This is going to sound so dorky.. but.... I love the composition of the Sean and Brendan shot, the sunset in the background and the way that the boys are lit. I wish I could take nice photos like that. The superman snap. Great! And lets talk for a minute about a boy and his dog! Soooo adorable. Brendan just moved, right? Does he get to keep his pup at his house or is it staying with his peeps? I bet that Puppy has seen the LonghoOOPS! I didn't say it. I just want to thank B-Man and his family for being so generous with us!! We really really appreciate it!

    The pic of Bren shaving is great. You can totally see his thought process from the expression on his face: "No, no, wait! *sigh* You took the picture didn't you? *sigh* I KNOW it's gonna end up on a website somewhere where a bunch of obsessed swimfans are gonna see it. *sigh* I can only imagine the comments.... *SIGH*"

  • I knew asking for baby pics was a good idea. How cute are they? That really is a beautiful picture. And the curls,boy do I love the curls. Sigh!! Thank you Bren's Mom. We love you! I do have to say I believe the puppy is a little bit more adorable than Brendan. Just a little bit though. :p

    The first pic is just beautiful, they are just sooo cute in that pic.

    The second pic, well, first thing that popped in my head was, "AAACCCKKK, he's not using any shaving lotion", lol. I never thought that a man could look sexy while shaving their legs, LOL.

  • hey...i don't know if any of ya'll know this, you might, but i thought that i would post it anyways...

    CBC SPORTS ONLINE - Organizers and city officials say Montreal is in danger of losing the 2005 world aquatic championships due to a lack of sponsorship funds.

    The championships are billed as Montreal's largest sporting event since the 1976 Olympics.
    Organizers have received about $4 million in sponsorship money – an amount much lower than the original target of $18 million.

    The gap has left a budgetary shortfall of about $14 million.

    Event director Yvon Desrochers said Montreal will lose the event if the needed money isn't raised by next Tuesday. He plans to make a final appeal to municipal, provincial and federal politicians for additional funding.

    The Quebec and federal governments have each already kicked in about $16 million apiece for the event.

    Montreal has also poured more than $6 million into the event. Most of the money has gone to infrastructure projects, such as the construction of a new aquatic centre.

    Quebec Sports Minister Jean-Marc Fournier suggested the government was misled about the event's financial situation.

    "We were told the sponsorships were taken care of," Fournier told Radio-Canada.

    However, Desrochers insisted all three levels of government were aware of the cash crunch.

    Fournier met with elite aquatic athletes on Tuesday, including Olympic silver medallist Alexandre Despatie, to discuss the financial crisis.

    Despatie has been one of the prominent faces in an advertising campaign promoting Montreal 2005.

    The event could be moved to Long Beach, Calif., according to a report from all-news channel LCN. Long Beach finished second to Montreal in bidding for the event.

    Montreal 2005 is slated to be the first world aquatic championships ever held in North America. The event includes swimming, diving, water polo, synchronized swimming and endurance swimming.

    That third picture should be accompanied by angels singing, it's so great. And I'm with lala in loving the composition of the first one -- adorable kids in matching sweatshirts, gorgeously lit backdrop...I can see why this is a family favorite.

    As for the WCs, I'm surreptitiously hoping they'll move to Long Beach, for selfish reasons. lala, I am rather admiring the irony of that possibility. Think of it as a savings in your hotel bill.

  • What great pictures, Michelle! Thanks for posting them. Thanks to Bren's mom for sending them.

    It is interesting to see pictures of people that are related, because Sean and Brendan look very much alike except in the eyes. Sean's looks darker. Either way, I wonder if they look as much alike now as they did then.

    And the Brendan and his dog picture: PRICELESS. I have a weakness for black labs, and a weakness for hot guys like Brendan, so I enjoyed it nonetheless.

  • Michelle firstly I love those pics. Unfortunately I didn't go to OG first so I wasn't warned of their presence. Needless to say, when I opened the blog and saw them, I gasped sort of slipped of my chair and gigled madly. Then I looked around to see if anyone had noticed.Thank God nobody had.

    Secondly how can they moved the thing to Long Beach. Wasn't the pool a temporary one built just for trials?

  • Thoroughly enjoyed reading the comments on these pics.
    As far as Sean is concerned...ladies...all I will say is this if you like/love Brendan you are going to feel the same for Sean...their personalities are different but have the same qualities.
    So LB appears to now be in the running for WC's. Thanks for the concern Michelle...I'll be fine. We just need a few things first and foremost a refill on the meds...and I am holding Lena, to the hand holding promise...Lena, I have that in writing right here on the blog...Lala...we'll be seeing you at Tequila Jacks right???...Ok think I covered all the basics here.   • This is turning into a matchmaking service. Any hot Brendan cousins,uncles,etc. just stop on by....lol. Maybe it's because the family seems so fun.

    Lala,I wonder if they move it will you have to buy tickets all over again? That would make me so mad. I would actually like for them to stay in Montreal. If by some twist of fate I come upon a large lump sum of money I would rather go there than LB. I would love to see the island that it will be on as well as the city.

  • Hmmm... LB might actually work out better for me. I have a friend in LA so i'd have a free place to stay. That was the thing that was killing my chances of going to Montreal.

    Aunt K - Cound on me to buy a round for you all too! If I ended up going it would be around my birthday so you all would have to go out with me. I can't celebrate my birthday alone, now can I?

    Picture wise, I like the contrast between the puppy's black hair and Pumpkin's tanned chest. And yes, that is the only reason why I look at that pic all the time. It's just an art interest...

  • Steph... they already know... I'm sure the aunts are filling them in as we speak, And I'm sure that they're up for it. Until I hear a NO I'm assuming they're going with us.

  • When is your Bday Steph? People born in July are the best people ever you know that don't you. Now August people are second seeing as Bren decided to be born then. Will y'all really find me someone too? I live in Ky which isn't really a breeding ground for cuties. I just looked back and saw breeding which made me think of all the Ky jokes. My only defense is that I have only lived here for a couple of years. But I have been told that all the brother and sister stuff is in eastern ky by the people here in western ky...lol. Disclaimer: Don't hold the above statement against me. It's not my personal opinion.

    Anyway,if it is in LB can I sleep on someone's couch. I promise I'm not a snorer and I won't bring alot of luggage. :) I might even be convinced to run up and down the rickety bleachers for refreshments and such.

    Hey Steph, that's my dad's b-day. And mine is Aug 6th, so I am a big fan of August bdays (I knew there was yet another reason I loved Brendan and Aaron! As if the swimming talent and fun wasn't enough). Maybe we can have a REALLY big birthday party. See then your 30th (and my 3*mumble*) wouldn't be so bad, because you could say that you celebrated your birthday with TWO Olympic swimmers!

    And Sassy -- I went to Indy and I had a fabulous time. It was a great venue, and I could see everything except the medal ceremony (I sat right behind it, so all I saw was a big yellow screen, I had to watch on the Jumbotron thingy). Next time, don't forget the people behind the podium!!!

  • Btw - Mrs. H confirms that is indeed the same shirt Brendan wore at Trials in 2000. It is his team logo - Suburban Swim Club. Brendan's sister's school, Southern Connecticut, now has the same logo. Brendan is only 15 in that picture if I'm doing the math correctly in my head (which is always questionable ;).

  • Michelle...I definitely agree about the Ryan/Brendan resemblance. Splash magazine had a pictorial after the Olympics. Ryan and Michael Phelps are standing next to each other. (It is Ryan's profile). I swear, it was only the hair that made me realize he wasn't Brendan.

    Lena, I am sure Aunt K and I could be available to you as chaperones.

    And "Queen of the Blogger"...I have a question: When you are managing a blog, how do you get anything else done, errands, etc? I see you screen for inappropriate comments and remove them as needed. Can you set the program to an "on hold" mode or something? Just curious.

  • Aunt C - Anytime someone posts on the blog I get an email with the content of their post and anytime I get an email my outlook makes a little ping sound so I know to check it. I work as a graphic designer and am online anywhere from 12 - 15 hours most days depending on my workload (and how much time I spend goofing off on the net) so it's not that difficult to keep tabs on the blog. However, I can't be around 24/7 and there may be times that I'm unable to catch them right away. I may be able to put a "hold" on posts, but I'd rather not do that unless it's completely necessary. I may have to take anonymous posting away at some point though, so some posters, not naming any names, will have to set up a blogger account and remember their passwords. :D

  • I am so behind to read all the messages. Overload of school works keep me away from here! Three exams down, one to go. Alright, back to Bren. Bren and Jack, what a such cute things created in this world. *breath* *enhale* *sigh*......... His hair was lighter when he was a kid. So charming...... Thank you Mrs. H. And of course Aunt C and Aunt K, both of you put so much work to encourage your sister to share pictures with us.
