Welcome to Brendan Hansen Online

Thursday, December 16, 2004

Only two photos remaining after this group...It's going to be a sad, sad day when they're all gone.

I'm too sad to comment. Ok, the curls and big smile cheer me up a little.

Wheeeee! How seasonal. And look Lena, the person next to him got Nerf bow and arrow. I'm so jealous!

Another one for the baseball fans.

• Yay! Im the first one to post. The first picture is just sooo sweet. It reminds me of my little brother. We had a picture of him taken in that pose.so cute. Oh, and you gotta love baseball pics. Is there anything Brendan is NOT good at? I seriously doubt it. =)

By Blogger jenny, at 12/16/2004 11:44 AM

• Just wanted you to know that although we are a little prejudice, Sean and Brendan, are both very handsome guys. We really do admire Sean for his love of his brother despite all the attention B receives Sean is agreeing with everything that is said about him. When you are the oldest, you would think S.would be a little jealous. It is just the opposite. Whenever, where ever
B. swims he always makes a point to speak to his brother before the meet. We have never seen two brothers as close as they are. As grandparents it shows just what a wonderful job their parents did in raising them. In our minds, despite all the accolades B receives S. should receive a great many also. He is the
strength behind the great swimmer. Their grandparents.

By Blogger Grandpop, at 12/16/2004 11:48 AM

• Omg, the sweater on the first one... And the eyes on the three.
But I'm cracking my neck to see this whole bow ans arrow you mention Michelle, we don't have those in Argentina.

By Blogger Lena, at 12/16/2004 11:50 AM

• Ohhh! Look at the cheeky face in the baseball picture! He looks like he is about to say "Grrrrr" What was the name of that baseball team, "Hotties (in) Training?"... Hey, is the Tiger a south paw? Maybe I am see that photo wrong.. being a hair dresser I am used to seeing every things in the mirror. I am so glad that I suggested that you post these snaps up slowly Michelle, It has been like little gifties from the B-Family.Yay me! What a nice gift these photos have been. They really do tend to make one think about the moments in our own lives. I's been fun/ Now I want to see his Halloween cossies!!

By Blogger lala, at 12/16/2004 11:52 AM

• Grandpop, Grandma, that was a beautiful post. It's nice to see they cared so much about each other. The way Brendan mentioned Sean the other day let us know that.
and Sean, come here and post, we're gonna get you some attention too!

By Blogger Lena, at 12/16/2004 11:54 AM

• Eeee! These are adoreable.

Gotta love the curls in number one. Lena is gonna flip for number two. =) And you have to love the all-star stance and the smirk in number 3. I'd go so far as to say I wouldn't mind grown up Bren-Bear recreating that one, especially the smirk. ;) (Then I really would need that defibrillator I mentioned below! HAHA!)

I can't believe our pics are almost done with! =( Well, we are apparently getting a few more, and then of course we have all the blogger pics to look forward to, so I'll try not to be too sad, yet.

By Blogger Stephie Mc, at 12/16/2004 11:55 AM

• Thanks for posting Grandpop! It's good to know Brendan has such a great support team in his family.

Lena - Here's what they look like. I don't even know if they make them anymore.

By Blogger Michelle, at 12/16/2004 11:56 AM

• Ahh, Grandpop posted while I was posting.

Grandpop - Both Sean and Brandon seem like very thoughtful, loving, young men. It is so nice that they are there for each other and support each other. I think I can speak for all of us in saying that it is very evident that they come from a good family that raised them right. =)

By Blogger Stephie Mc, at 12/16/2004 12:00 PM

• Awww! And because it cannot be said enough...how sweet is the Hansen family. I'm all teary now.I love that they are so close and seem to be miiiles away from dysfunction junction.

That said, what a cute little kiddies he was.

By Blogger Dana, at 12/16/2004 12:01 PM

• Oh,grandpop, that was so sweet. That truly showed how much you love your grandchildren as well as their parents. We had no doubt that Sean supported his brother because of how great your family truly seems. How many sites out there have the whole family behind it like this one does? I truly adore how y'all have shared your thoughts and pics with us. Okay,I'm done with the sappy stuff now. Grandpop's comment just made me all emotional for some reason. I now know for sure it's past my bedtime when I get like that...lol. If I didn't think Bren was so hot I would ask the Hansens to adopt me. Oh,wait,I don't think my mom would let me. :D

As for the pics, real quick, the third is my fav of this group. It has that smile I so love. The first one is just adorable. Darn him and his cuteness...lol. Goodnight everyone! Yes,I know it's only noon but I go by a crazy schedule.

By Blogger blairbecky, at 12/16/2004 12:02 PM

• omg, that is the cutest thing I'v ever seen (after the pic of Brendan as a kid, dressed in green, fishing, that has become my fav). Seriously... such a nice little recurve!
Sorry, the archer in me would shut up now.

By Blogger Lena, at 12/16/2004 12:02 PM

• these pics are very cute! that impish smile in the baseball pic is killing me.
and everything grandpop says is very true, and so sweet. and it always makes me wonder how an athlete can stay so grounded, but when you have a family like that behind you, it explains everything. I havent known them long, but they are great! I think I say this every post - but I cant reiterate it enough!!

lena - how are you feeling?
(btw - the boca cheer, can I tell you my spanish prof. made our class learn that before we went to a game, then graded us on it!)

By Blogger swimphilly78, at 12/16/2004 12:09 PM

• I have been a Sean fan ever since I read that he is responsible for getting the family together for this past Thanksgiving becasue Bren was going to be home. And the love in this family is so evident. Int he phots and in the words of the whole B-family. Hey.. this "swimphilly" person.... You know the family.... Have you seen longhorn tattOOps...... I am not supposed to mention that!

By Blogger lala, at 12/16/2004 12:11 PM

• this doesn't have to do with the pictures but I thought I saw Brendan yesterday in Austin driving. I know there's a million Texas kids with UT sweatshirts on but this one REALLY looked like him. it was hard to decide if it was him or not because he wasn't smiling

I don't know what he drives so it would be difficult to see him driving anyways

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 12/16/2004 12:29 PM

• Cute pics as always. I'm sad that they are going to be coming to an end, but I'm so thankful Michelle spread them out.

Thanks for posting Grandpop! It was so nice to read what you said... just reiterates again to us how sweet you all are. It's so great to see you all supporting one another.

Man, I'm getting emotional... I better stop writing.

By Blogger afadingvoice, at 12/16/2004 12:39 PM

• The family dynamic Grandpop describes there is true of other really high-performing families in sports. The Mannings come to mind - with Peyton going for the TD pass record this weekend, and Eli's potential with the Giants (and $50M in the bank), few know that there is an oldest Manning brother, Cooper, who never played in the NFL. Ask either younger Manning who their best friend is - they'll both say Cooper. He has a gorgeous wife, adorable kids, a great job, he's just world-class. Sportswriters tap him often to get positive quotes about his brothers, he's even witty. It sounds like Sean has a lot of the same gifts. It takes a lot of grace and class to be in that position.

By Blogger Dana Cara, at 12/16/2004 12:42 PM

• yay! i don't have to be anonymous anymore! haha. =D thanks grandpop for posting. it is soo awesome to see that the hansen family is so incredibly close, and that like all of them post here! the first pic is too cute for words. i love his smile in the second one, and is that a snowboard? how cute! and i must agree with everyone that the third is my favorite...the little smirk on his face....priceless. erin

By Blogger erin, at 12/16/2004 12:47 PM

• I feel much better, thanks for asking. I have one shot left tonight (I'm currently sitting on a throne of pillows) and then my doctor is gonna check me up tomorrow morning.
Cool teacher you have there, teaching you the important things... I have thousands of cheers.
You have to apologize lala, she really wants to see the longhorns tattoo.
But me too, and I'm gonna ask Pumpkin one more time. Come on, I swear I email you Nueve de Oro. I promise.

By Blogger Lena, at 12/16/2004 12:58 PM

• His curls and cheeks are killing me!! :).

Thanks for posting Grandpop, =).

By Blogger Maria, at 12/16/2004 1:12 PM

• I'm surprised that the tattoo fans haven't proposed some method involving laying down on a xerox copier (it'd probably look a lot like the breaststroke on dryland, ha) and scanning the results. Not to mention that if he used a camera he'd probably need help ... Michelle, you want to raise money for leukemia? Auction off the right to take the picture. ;)

By Blogger Dana Cara, at 12/16/2004 1:15 PM

• Heeeee Dana - you may be onto something there, but I think we'd better get Mrs. H and Brendan's approval before beginning that auction.

In related photo news - Thank you BlairBecky, I got your photos and Thank YOU Aunt K, I got YOUR photos (wheeee!) and in unrelated postcard news - Thank you lala I got your postcard. xoxox

:clears throat and tauntingly sings:I know what Sean looks like, I know what Sean looks like..

By Blogger Michelle, at 12/16/2004 2:07 PM

• Pics of Sean have arrived! i cant wait until you post them Michelle. dont hold out on us long. Ill definately be making a contribution to Bren's charity. Oh and its great to hear from Grandpop. such sweet words. take care.

By Blogger jenny, at 12/16/2004 2:28 PM

• Hey everyone! Gosh with the busy week I have had, coming to this site has helped brighten up my days. And reading how close the Hansen family is makes me think of how close my own family is. I can't wait for Christmas because we are all gonna be together this year, then right after I will be leaving for college out of state. Its gonna be the first time I've truly been away from my family.

And Michelle, my pictures should be on their way! And I am trying to remain calm about those Sean pics...you lucky girl!

By Blogger LongHornLove, at 12/16/2004 2:47 PM

• Michelle, I still have one mroe shot to take. To make a total of 4 shots in my..ahem.. lower back in less than 36 hours. So please... please, please... We need the pics of Sean!

Pretty Pretty please?

I'm gonna start saing to make a donation. Currency exchanges suck at this point, but hey, it's for a good cause.
And we still need a pic of the longhorns

By Blogger Lena, at 12/16/2004 3:30 PM

• Thanks for posting Grandpop! Brendan has such a wonderful family and it's great that he and Sean are so close. It reminds me of my relationship with my sister, who's 3 years older than me. We're also very close, and I don't know what I'd do without her! :)

Aw, it just won't be the same without the daily pic fix! Maybe you should've done just 1 a day Michelle, haha.

By Blogger Janine, at 12/16/2004 4:05 PM

• Okay michelle, you may be the hostess with the mostest, But I have just about had it with the Sean taunting. I know I am not going to see the longhoOOps! I am not supossed to talk about that. I keep looking at Sean's hoodie picture with Tiger and I want to see him NOW! You have been torturing me.... Not fair. I am like a cat. Curiosity will kill me one day, But I love a mystery revealed...... What is he doing in the pick? Is he pretty? Does he still have those brown eyes? Did his hair get dark? Is Brendan in the photo with him? See Mrs. H.. it isn't just the TattoooOOOOOps.... that keeps me up at night ;) And really ... Michelle has been teasing us without mrecy.

By Blogger lala, at 12/16/2004 4:26 PM

• This is an automated response.

Michelle is en route to PA. Please leave a message.

By Blogger Michelle, at 12/16/2004 4:33 PM

• "I am like a cat." Ok, lala... the things I can say about this. But I'm not holding it against you b/c you don't speak lunfardo. Hence, you have no idea what you just said. One hint. Never, EVER, say that in Buenos Aires.
Second, I don't wanna tell, but Michelle is beign mean! I'm on my way to get my 4th shot, I've been sick for a month and a half, we have no 20 questions, I still have not money for Montreal.
Michelle, feliver us the picture of Sean. Don't do this to Steph, to me, to lala (the tattoo is already enought for her)
Besides... Aunt K was nice enough to send the pic. It's not polite not to post it.

By Blogger Lena, at 12/16/2004 4:34 PM

• Aunt C, Aunt C, run run run!!!! Michelle is on her way to stalk Sean! You need to save him. You need to hide him far far away from her.

My house is available as shelter in Buenos Aires. Really. And of course, since the brothers are so close. Brendan can come stay too. I have a pool on the other block, an archery club nearby and my sister is a swimming coach. See... all your needs taken care of.

By Blogger Lena, at 12/16/2004 4:38 PM

• Ack!! Michelle, you are gonna be the death of me!

Post the pic of Sean for Lena! (Yeah, yeah! For Lena! That's my excuse!) I swear I am sitting down, and I am fully prepared with defibrillator on stand by!

Don't make me keep begging for Lena! ;)

By Blogger Stephie Mc, at 12/16/2004 4:48 PM

• Oh and Lena - if they run off to Argentina I'm hopping a plane too. You already said your parents would adopt me! =)

By Blogger Stephie Mc, at 12/16/2004 4:49 PM

• awe..liek i say every day. i love them all! and yes, michelle it will be a sad day when there are no more *sigh*

man, every time a family memeber comments i love them more and more. and you remind me more and more of my own family. ya'll rock!

oh, and *squee* sean pic!

By Blogger Sarah, at 12/16/2004 5:09 PM

• I'm back from shot number 4. This one really, really hurt. A lot.
But before goign there I got a postcard from lala. Thanks, lala, it totally made it easier to put up with the pain cause I remembered your kind words. You were the blessing of 2004. hun.

Aunt C, Aunt K, I hope you're keeping Sean Bear safe from Michelle's claws.

By Blogger Lena, at 12/16/2004 5:33 PM

• I love this whole family...does anyone else get the urge to bust out "can you feel the love tonight?" Nope..just me? OK then!

Dana Cara, I am from Indiana and let me tell you WE LOVE our Manning boys. OK so only Peyton is really ours, but they are all amazing! Cooper is very adorable, and was very talented in college. I definitely see the Manning/Hansen comparison. I've heard that Bren-Bear does a lot for charities, and Peyt does a lot for Indiana! Sorry this is a strange rant, but Peyton, Coop, Eli, Brendan, and Sean in one post does a number on me! LOL!

By Blogger Kimberly, at 12/16/2004 6:07 PM

• Michelle,I see how you are now! I think you just like torturing us...lol. I just want you to know that all my mom's family is from Philly. So if you were to take me I could have us somewhere to stay. :D Then again I think we should propose an exchange program where we get to take turns staying with Mrs.H for a week at a time. Just in the name of learning about new areas of the country of course. For no other reason...really...lol.

By Blogger blairbecky, at 12/16/2004 6:58 PM

• Kimberly, glad you enjoyed. :) After I graduated from college (by the way, the tiger-striped pic on the homepage - I love that - being a tiger alum - if I ever want to get my old pix photoshopped, I'm sending them to you all for the tiger treatment) ... anyway, I got a job in the research/editorial group of a sports magazine, which is where I got so electrified by swimming. I had the man dream job, as a 23 year old blonde chick, was it ever going to get better than that? Ha. We covered football, hockey, and summer Olympic sports. We would call Cooper Manning to confirm quotes. There were a few swimmers we called every now and then, but never Brendan, how stupid were we. :) It never came up.

I'm always so impressed with John's articles, they're always clear and poetically organized, really beautifully written - way better than anything we ever published about swimming, which wasn't much.

When I got the "offer I couldn't refuse" to switch to finance - my piggy bank was thrilled, but it was a drastic drop in my daily amount of eye candy. So yay to Brendan Hansen Online, his family and you all for adding some zing back to my workday. PS - apologies to Mrs. H if my mention of selling her son at charity auction was in any way traumatizing. :) :) :)

By Blogger Dana Cara, at 12/16/2004 8:16 PM

• It doesn't seem y'all really differ from the topic of Brendan and his family but I just thought I'd ask, how about The OC episode tonight?
Anna

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 12/16/2004 9:25 PM

• I'm glad to see I wasn't the only who teared up reading Grandpop's post. It's really great to see how close the family is; makes me want to get home to see my sister and the rest of my family.

Lena-good to hear you're feeling somewhat better

A xerox copier....breast stroke on dryland....I think you may be on to something.

Oh the pictures! I just adore that first one-I guess because I'm a sucker for the curls! Lol. Kinda sad that tomorrow's the last day, oddly enough, it's also my last day of finals....not sure what that means....

By Blogger lizook12, at 12/16/2004 9:31 PM

• I just realized that first picture of Brendan as a baby..looks EXACTLY like Justin Timberlake as a baby. There is a picture of him with a little cowboy hat on, and oh I need to find it!

By Blogger Kimberly, at 12/16/2004 10:30 PM

• Ok, on the way to PA I decided to stop at the mall and got a little distracted. Anyway, upon further research it appears that the Nerf Bow and Arrow set is no more. But there is a Lord of the Rings Crossbow set that you can bet is now under the Christmas tree with my name on it. :D

By Blogger Michelle, at 12/17/2004 12:05 AM

• I am in no way condoning the ridicule of any swimmer..but you guys should check out the Texas trio site..their advent goodie for the day is about and I quote "Cheatajima". I think I just had a mini-stroke from laughter!

By Blogger Kimberly, at 12/17/2004 12:24 AM

• Yes, Kimberly Cheetajima is well known in these parts. It is still shocking to see that footage and know that the judges missed that.

By Blogger lala, at 12/17/2004 2:54 AM

• A big fat AAWWWWWW.

I just love that little devilish grin in the third pic, too cute! I can't remember who said they love it that Brendan is always smiling, but that is so exactly right. Such a genuinely happy childhood. And after reading Grandpop's entry, it's so clear why!

Regarding Cheatajima -- ironic timing. I was just telling the story to a coworker today, after he saw this picture on my office windowsill: http://www.brendanhansenonline.com/images/dolphinboy.jpg. I had him busting out laughing, AND I've found a socially acceptable reason for keeping a picture of BrenBear up in my office.

By Blogger crackinup, at 12/17/2004 3:33 AM

• But there is a Lord of the Rings Crossbow set that you can bet is now under the Christmas tree with my name on it. :D

Well, Michelle, my recurve still beats a longbow (unless is in the hands of Orlando Bloom) so deliver the pics of Sean!

Aunt C, Aunt K, I trust you're keeping Sean safe...
