I'm not, but this make it better, plus my new wp in my computer (you figured which one is). I'm ordering icecream and putting on the Indy tapes. I need my Pumpkin today. Not to mention, Thiago Pereira and my very own Jose Meolans.
Thanks for the thoughts, and lala, I hope the gift advice was helpful
Aw, that first pic reminds me of when I was a kid and I had this miniature child's size fishing rod. And yes, I actually caught fish with it. Fishing is fun. I can handle the bait part, but I have problems with the unhooking the fish part!
Michelle, no innocent victims in these pictures. When the guys go fishing they throw the fish back in. They never keep any. Unless, when Brendan fishes in PA and it is trout season then he gives them to his Grandmom to eat. Mrs. H
Michelle, you have such a wonderful son if he's taking you to dinner after all the shopping. That's luck in there. And so do you, Mrs. H. You have a wonderful son. And we haven't met the other (yet) but I'm sure he is as adorable as his brother.
Well, my icecream is here and I have my tapes ready!
Yay!! it really makes my day to see these pictures. so glad about the no innocent victim policy with fishing..haha picture three is definately my favorite. Brendan's baby pictures are cute but for some reason i like to see recent ones too.
Lena - What I really mean when I say I'm going to make my son take me to dinner is...I'm going to make my son go to dinner with me after torturing him with an afternoon of shopping and then I'm going to give him the money to pay for dinner. :D But back to the pictures. The cheeks in that first one, so cute. And his hands in the second one (I bet he could touch his fingers together front and back around his waist at that age, and probably still can). He looks pretty good in olive green too, and I don't say that about many.
Did Brendan's sister have a meet yesterday? I hope she was happy with her swim if she did.. and if she didn't.. I don't know what made me think she did... hmm. Lena, thanks for the idea's for Gramma shopping. I have done just about everything audio that there is to do. I read scripture,(she preferes Charlton Heston's reading of the Bible to mine_ who knew?) I recorded the the story of some Christmas Carols and then sang them for her. Gave her books on tape: Chicken Soup for the soul, Lake Wobegone. Last year I knit her a scarf. She is 93 I think she has everything... I haven't ever gotten her music. Maybe I will look at that. Sorry my frustration level is so high. I just love her so. All the out door things the Hansen family do remind me of when I was kid. My family did things like that but it all stopped abruptly when I was like 15. The guys continuted to do fun stuff like that, but the girls stopped. I always loved fishing but I couldn't keep doing it becasue I hit an age where my Dad said I now had to kill the fish, not just clean them. So no more fishing for me! The throw back is a much better plan!
I kbow what you mean lala, I was very close to my greatgrandmother while little, and I loved her a lot. she used to love to have pur first communion stamps in her mirror, since she spent her last years in bed. I suggested music from her time b/c if she cannot look at pics then maybe that is a nice thing to give her. The songs she listened while she was young. I don't know... waht else can be? Does she likes smells? Maybe a set of scented candles for her to have her room with nice aromas. Or if you are good at sewing, you can make her small bags made of fabric that you can fill with lavender or dried scented flowers fir her to put under her pillow, or between her clothes. And I'm gonna shut up with my stupid ideas now...
I used to spend a lot of time outdoors with my cousins too when I was little. It was fun for us and Hell for our parents.
What's all this "shopping" people are speaking of? Isn't that what you do on Amazon.com? *g* Funny thing - I was at the Mall of America yesterday and didn't shop at all!
Hey,lala, how did you know Bren's sister, Megan, had a meet yesterday? Yes, she was happy with her swims on Saturday but was crying her eyes out on the phone with me on Friday. She has been sick and the two days before the meet began she could not keep anything down. She swam horrible on Friday and was ready to quit bc the girls that swam better were ones that party all the time. She was very discouraged, especially when she calls her brothers to tell them her times. I am amazed at how you knew about the meet? Mrs H Also, something to think about a gift for your Grandmother she might appreciate very much, could be as simple as your time. Plan a day to be with her or take her somewhere special if she is able.
What's all this "shopping" people are speaking of? Isn't that what you do on Amazon.com? Angie, that's what I'm talking about! We don't even really have much spontaniety in my family anymore because we all make lists on Amazon for each other. =)
Another great day of pics. Brendan could seriously be one of the cutest kids I've ever seen. And as for the last pic, I could imagine rowing out to the middle of the lake..talking and fishing..awww! (I have an active imagination. We all know Lena won't let me get away with that one! HAHA! Lena, I kid because laughter is good medicine!)
Hope everyone is getting their holiday errands done and getting some rest! =)
Actually Steph, I'm gonna let you get away with that one. I've been so sick for the past month and a half and people around me had gotten sick that I'm starting to think I'm bad luck. So I'm backing out, people...
I think those little "shorty-shorts" that Bren-Bear is wearing in the first picture are so cute! I guess he's always had great legs. I told my mom if I am ever famous for anything, she has to be as cool as Mrs. H....only she would have to keep the stories to herself (as my stories are very embarrassing!).
Oh and Mrs. H if you are reading this, you need to yell at your son for being so interesting. I am possibly failing my business computer class,(which is always good since my major is buisness!) all seem to do in class is come here and look at his cute little pictures. Good luck to everyone taking finals this week!
Well, I managed to actually buy presents for other people tonight. Got almost all the adults taken care of and now just have the fun part left...the kids!
Lena - Don't be silly, that's the sickness talking. Don't let it get you down chica!
Mrs. H - I think I probably mentioned the swim meet to lala. I was contemplating putting a link to the Southern Swim Meet schedule on the blog with a comment about those who want to see a Hansen swim and aren't particular about which one. But then I thought maybe Megan doesn't want a bunch of women showing up at her meets wanting to be her new best friend. So I didn't. But glad to hear she's happy with her swim after having such a miserable week. I hope she's feeling better now.
Thanks for the advice on the Grammy gift Mrs. H! Haven't you figured it out yet? Swim-luvahs make a point to find out all places that there are swmmers in the water. All over the world. We know who is training and who is taking time off. Who has decided to go for Montreal and who has decided that they want to save themselves for Beijing. No, actually Michelle and I were talking as she said, and I was hopin gmegan had a good time at the meet. But I am only half kidding about us knowing who is in the water where. I think it is a good thing for all of us who love swimming to start going to meets and supporting the sport in the Non-Olympic times too.
I agree completely. I keep trying to make it up to the Y to watch the high school meets but life does get in the way most of the time. Some of the lifeguards are on the team so I try to always ask how they did and such. I think just showing interest makes them happy. I felt bad for some girls who were complaining how another school had posters up all down the halls for their meet. Our high school here in town evidently doesn't promote swimming at all and they were disappointed. It's sad that they aren't as recognized for their athletic achievements like other sports. That's my rant for today.
As for the pics, awwwww!! I love the first one for obvious reasons. I do agree with whoever said something about Bren in the color green. Too lazy to go back and look. I'm sorry! Just got off work. As for the last,I've never been fishing. Wouldn't know what to do plus I don't even eat fish. If it lives in water at any point I'm probally not going to eat it. I'm weird I know. :p The lack looks pretty though and I could pass the day away on a boat. Water is so soothing.
Aww..I was looking at Southern's schedule and they were up in Boston in November. I probably could have gone to the meet at Northeastern. Too bad they are in a different league than BU.
I think maybe I should find some friends to go to a swim meet at my alma mater. They have a beautiful pool, but I've never been to a meet. Do you think it's weird for a 20 something year old woman to go watch some college kids swim?? HAHA! =)
Glad to hear Megan was happy with her times. Hopefully she's feeling better. All those yucky germs are going around.
Yeah, sorry about the germs. I don't seem to be able to kick this tonsilitis out of me. Truth to be told, no one came with chicken soup, but still. Oooh, warm memories of fishing in the Poconos ... we used to spend a week of every summer at Big Bass Lake - hiking/fishing/whatever ... they have the ugliest fat little brown fish in that lake. :) Fishing is a fantastic sport, I have zero skill but as is always the way, the blond girl with no skill is the one who easily catches ten fish in a day (at least half sunnies), and the other guys dread being in her canoe, as they are forced to spend all day getting her fish off her line and setting her up with new bait. Another thing to love about the Poconos - the way the convenience stores are also the video rental places, the pizzarias, the lottery sales centers, the diners and, if that's your thing, the tanning salons. You only need to go to one place and you're all set for a week. :)
Another great place I love to fish - Cape May, NJ. The Hansens are Main Liners so they must've done the LBI thing or the Stone Harbor thing at some point, the shore fishing down there is really fun. Thanks Steph! :hugs: But I decided to stop whinning and go see someone that is worst than me co I got tickets for Bridget Jones II. Besides, I know you want to come to Argentina for Jose Meolans.
Actually, if you hit Cape May at the right time you might find Diebel on the beach, I met him at Princeton reunions and I bump into him at least once a summer down there. He takes the ferry over from Delaware, I think that's where he's living now, an odd place for a thirtysomething punk like him but he's a world-class guy, so intelligent. I think I read a story somewhere about Brendan meeting him at DeNunzio pool, where I spent a few years of shivering mornings. It was never UT, but we did what we could. :)
