Just kidding...heehee. I do so love black and white pics though. Why so serious,Bren? I'd rather see your great smile. I know that alot of people comment on his eyes but I like his smile the best. Oh,and his chin, which is kind of weird,I know. Now why is he wearing that pesky shirt....
ooooo! bren looks so good in that black and white pic! although the eyes and chin and shoulders are all veeery nice, i personally like bren's cute curls. i can't resist a man with curly hair...*sigh* =D erin.
pumpkin,... SWUDOh, no! Lena is speaking gibberish! "SWUD"? I think that must be a blend of "swoon" and "thud." OK, Lena. Hang on! I'm headed to Argentina to take you to the hospital! I'll be there soon. You can make it. Just think of Pumpkin. Oh, wait... that's how you got to this state...
Not sure where to post this, so I put it on both today and yesterday's "Inspring stories" blog.
I wrote that e-mail to Michelle, and I AM eternally grateful for all your kind words, stories, quotes, and general encouragement. Sometimes a girl just needs a reason to look at the stars, ya know?
I have printed out everything y'all wrote, and the posts hang on my inspirational wall: a little dividing wall in my apartment that faces my bathroom door. I'll ask Michelle to post photos of it when I'm done.
My last thing; I wanted to leave you with my latest musings, my self-motivational writing, and hopefully, for all of you when you have a bad day too.
I am a champion, though I have no medals to wear 'round my neck, and no world records to prove it. Most people don't know my name, and I have never signed an autograph (except for my taxes, and the IRS guy didn't think it was that funny). But that's okay. Being a champion lies in the journey, not just the outcome. I get that now.
I am a champion. I am constantly tapping my foot, ready to go, too antsy to wait. Everyone tells me patience is a virtue. I disagree; mostly because I don't have it. Yet. Here's a secret for you: impatience is the real virtue, while patience is the side effect that develops from it. And yes, I think impatience is a good quality. So I'm still here, with my impatience, waiting patiently for that side effect to kick in. And then I realize it alread has, and I just wasn't paying attention.
I am a champion. I have spend hundreds of hours in a pool, alone, chasing my dreams along a single black line. Sometimes during my sets, I let songs run through my head, or I write little stories or articles, like I'm doing now; and one time, during a particularly heinous session of fly, I came up with the perfect plan for world peace. Of course, once I got out of the pool, I forgot it, so I have no proof.
I am a champion. I wake up every day with a new goal. Sometimes the goal is simply to make it to class on time. Sometimes it is to go faster during a set than I did last week; sometimes, it is to save the world, and at the end of the day, I have never failed. Sometimes saving the world starts with one person at a time.
I am a champion. I don't wish anymore. The few regretful things in my life have taught me that. I plan. I try the impossible, and usually, I find it's not impossible if you break it down a little bit first. Baby steps, darlin'.
I am a champion. Because being a champion isn't just about winning, or setting records (though that helps, I suppose). Being a champion is all about making it through the day, one day at a time. By getting in the pool, even when you don't feel like it. By being happy with who you are, and where your life is taking you. Because Aunt K is right; you are right where you're supposed to be. And knowing that makes an ordinary person into a champion. Though a medal would be nice, too.
Steph R., im glad our comments could help. I think all of us could benefit from each others comments and stories. Now, you have another family right here at BHO!!
...and Pic #2 is classic. I love black and white photos. As far as Bren not smiling it doesnt really matter to me. Any pic is a good pic of our Pumkin.
Steph R.- I enjoyed your writing, and I believe that you are a champion. I would also like to be the first one to ask for your autograph! :) Keep writing; you are very articulate and have a lot of good things to say and share. Keep swimming; you still have a lot dreams to catch along that black line.
As for the photo, all I can do is repeat what I said when the other one was posted.... very, very nice. Very, very nice.
Great picture! I prefer Handsome with a smile, but this has kind of got that smoldering thing going on! =)
Steph R - I am glad you're feeling inspired. I love the little inspirational musing you wrote as well.
Oh, and today is a happy day for me. I got my swim cap today! YAY! And since I was being shy in the photo contest, I thought I'd be brave and post a pic of me trying it on. So Here I am I did my best re-enactment of the infamous "Pool Sharks" photo from Sports Illustrated. ;)
Now I am going to go put that baby in a safe place until I can take it to be framed. Thanks again for the awesome prize!
Stephie, that is too funny! You are both enchanting and mysterious. Did someone have to help you get the cap on? My friend that I swim with sometimes still has to help me get my swim cap on. I've got a big melon!
Steph R.,glad we could help. Maybe John can hire you as his replacement when he is sick. What you wrote was very good.
Oh Steph R, Since I love love love coach Eddie Reese, I thought maybe using his techniques for coaching might work for you. In one interview, Brendan said that he doesn't think he has ever had the same drill twice. Switch it up? Eddie Rocks!
