Good News!

Ok, instead of starting the year with a snark thread I wanted to give everyone a place to post their GOOD news. I'll start...

1. Brendan has been added to the CelebMatch area of the Bio Love Match website. He's really made it now.
2. The Nike catalog featuring Brendan is out...now I just have to get my hands on a copy.
3. Brendan won American Swimmer of the Year in the SwimInfo poll and placed second behind Aaron in the World Swimmer category.
3. Brendan heads back to Texas today. Bad news for Mrs. H, but good news for the ladies of Austin.

  • Mrs H, all my hugs for you from Argentina. I know it must be hard for you.
    I'm glad finally someone saw that Brendan was supposed to be in that list!

    And I'm gonna go and cry cause that catalogue is not gonna reach Argentina. Is there a virtual version of it? Would a kind soul post some pics for this poor, broken hearted fan?

    I want to thank everyone that voted in the poll. We did a good job and only lost due to time zones. I went to sleep a couple of hours and woke up with the poll closed. I hope Grandma is happy with the results nonetheless.

    And girls, remember that Aaron might have won, but we're the ones that got a post from Pumpkin thanking us... ;)

  • Mrs. H a huge cyber hug goes out to you! My Mom sends one as well. She has sent her 4 babies off to college, and 3 of them have left the nest for good (she can't get rid of me yet!!!!). You can have some of her vicodin if you need it! She said a recovering knee hurts less then a broken heart...(awe, I'm never leaving her! I'll be one of those star trek nerds who lives in their parents basement when they are 35.)Anyway sorry this was depressing will give you a good laugh now!
    When I was 12 I had a trampoline in the back yard. I used to put the sprinkler underneath so I could stay cool in the summer heat! Well, the water used to get in my eyes so I had my Mom pick me up some of those lovely swimming goggles. I put them on and started jumping my little heart away. I couldn't see very well with them on, as everything was a nice shade of pink! Apparently objects are closer then they appear with those goggles (or I am just stupid which is probably the better answer!)because I jumped off the trampoline and fractured my ankle. I was laying face down in a huge mud puddle with my ankle all contorted, as my dad runs out calling me an idiot! (nice eh?) My neighbors were having a party, and to say the least I provided the entertainment. In hind sight, wasn't the best decision I ever made. At least I didn't get water in my eyes!

  • *HUGE HUGS* to Mrs H. I know it must be hard to have your little birdies flying off. We're thinking of you.(Sean, give your mom lots of love while your siblings are gone)

    Now on to the catalog..we must find "teh Preshuss" at all costs!

    1) My good news..well, I am still working on my script. I made some big changes, but I am much happier about it now.

    2) I finally picked out my gown for my friends wedding in May (I'm a bridesmaid, got to pick my own gown. The bad news is its yellow, but I'm not the bride. What can I do? )

  • I love Good news! About that catalog,maybe if we are really nice to Bren he will get us one. I would also really like to see the catalog for swim stuff for me. Goggles are like shoes to this girl.

    Mrs.H,hope you had a great holiday with Bren. Since I'm the youngest and live an hour away,I think my Mom has moments when she really misses all her kids. At least my sister lives across the street from her.

    Stephie,I love yellow. At least you know that you will be the first to be seen. The human eye see yellow before any other color. At least,I think I read that it did.

  • Well,I didn't even notice the celebmatch when we were doing lovematch so I tried it. I ended up with Joey Fatone as my best match. Yikes!! No wonder I'm single. I was kind of depressed after that but then they named people I had never heard of except for Vince Carter. :) Lena,I did get some guy named Zinadine something or another. Evidently he plays soccer. Is he famous where you live?

  • Steph, what type of Yellow are we talking in here... is it a light soft yellow (what we call amarillo patito, duck yellow) or is it come sort of bright yellow ala Lakers? You know we're girls in here... stating yellow does not give us a picture of the dress. And how's the dress?

    I still have my old googles somewhere... tons of them. I haven't touched them in over 5 years. Yes, I'm a bad girl cause I don't swim anymore.

    My good news? My best friend got a shcolarship for her PHD research. So for 4 years she'd be able to research in peace without worrying about nothing else. She totally deserves it and I'm really happy for her.

    Zinedine Zidane is a soccer player from France. He's a mid field player. He was the key element in the French team that won the world cup in France 1998. He stills plays for the French team, he was part of the one that went to the Euro Cup. Did any of you watch the Euro Cup 2004? No one?

    He's some famous in Argentina, but he has nothing against our mid field players.

  • Well here is the dress I picked. And as for the color, it is a soft, light yellow, called "banana" although it's not bright like bananas. I just don't like yellow, although everyone says it will look good on me with the dark hair..who knows??

  • I have a job interview on Wednesday at 10am CST! Two positions are open. We'll see how it goes. I know I said I didn't want to move back to Alabama unless I absolutely had to, but if they pay me well, I'm going!

    Steph, that's a pretty bridesmaid dress. I almost picked yellow for my wedding, but I decided everyone would look better in royal blue carrying yellow roses.

  • I can'e believe that Michelle made this day a place for GOOD news, becaus all I have is snarky or bleh news. So I start with the bleh news. I called Nike today. not only don't they think that they have a catalog, but they you can't oreder the swimwear from them.. like not even a secret back door to the catalog. Now we know they have a catalog because we have seen Aaron's pages. So they said I could buy the swimwear at Niketown. and gave me a link to 2 sites where where the swimwear could be purchased. Sorry Michelle, they don;t have any of those blue USA jammers with the silver waistband detail that you love so well.

    [snark] And speaking of things you LOVE SO WELL.... I did a little test on the bio love match thing and was oh so shocked to find out who you love... With a whopping 99% physical, 70% emotional, and 92% intellectual for a grand total of 88% !! I think you are gunna have t start a new fansite for this particualr guy. Well you know in your heart who it is.... Although you do mention him quite a bit here on BHO ::singing::There's a thin line between love and hate. Tee heee! Can you guess who it might be? [/snark]

    And I am glad that Aunt K and Mrs. H are close because they have each other to visit and they can come here and hang out. Come sit by me ladies. I'll supply the tequilla.

    My new swiffer mop is kickass!

    It's 70 degrees in Madison today and I'm cooking some lovely t-bones on the grill for dinner.

    Traffic to BHO doubled last week thanks to the shout-outs from Brendan and John Lohn. I hope we see some of these new visitors posting soon.

  • Oh,by the way,I was at the Y today swimming and eyed the lifeguard looking at a catalog. It looked like they just got a bunch shipped to them. I didn't know this lifeguard so I didn't ask. Tomorrow when I go it will probally be one I know and I will ask him if they get the Nike catalog. If anyone knows any lifeguards they might ask them.

  • Not the wetjet, but a Swiffer MAX which means I cover twice as much surface in the same time. It's fab. I've resolved to be more like Mrs. H this year. Eating off my floors I wouldn't recommend, but the counters may now be safe. ;)

    I can't play with you right now lala - I'm too busy making pretty things with pretty pictures. And doing laundry. And later I'm steam cleaning my carpet. And playing with the swiffer some more probably. :D

    Oh PS...When I took the bio test thing to my amazement I found out I am a 100% match with Nicky Hilton. Yeah didn't see the part where I had to indicate whether I was male or female. I screamed in horror. I mean, it's one thing to have the computer tell you your perfect match is another woman, it's something completely evil to find out she is a nasty girl! I'll take the human dolphin!

    You think your biomatches are bad? Try Ricky Martin and Corey Haim. (I apparently do well with men born the last week of December, 1971.) Though I recall also scoring rather well with our E before I boy Peirsol.

    Speaking of Nike, I've been to two different Nike stores in the last week, and neither of them sells any swimwear. Sort of odd that they bother to sponsor kick*ss swimmers and yet when I TRY to buy their products, I can't. Swimming wasn't on their website last I checked either, which is sort of odd if you think how popular swimming is as a recreational sport...

    My advice to you is to take a closer look at your birth certificate....perhaps you were born on the cusp of 2 days, and your mom never told you????? Then you can pick the other date. If not, your pals here will certainly help plan the wedding. I'm seeing bridesmaid dresses in lovely shades of gray. Water features will abound. Perhaps it can be held near a lagoon. A 5'6" wedding cake shaped like a dorsal fin....

  • LADIES of the BHO..........................This is Kimberly, I am on a different computer and I do not remember my stupid password so I am forced to post anonymously. I have come to rub my good news in your faces!!!!!! Guess who got a 100% with Pumpkin in the physical part of the bio-match test......that is right ladies...ME..Kimberly. Here were my results
    physical--100%
    Emotional--97%
    Intellectual--58% (since all of my time is spent chatting on this site, I really don't think that intellectual will ever be at it's full potential.)
    and total--85%

    Now I must go read the encyclopedia so I can get a total of 100%! Lala and Lena, I guess I will be seeing the tattoo before you suckers!!Ha Ha Ha..{EVIL LAUGH}

  • Wow.... I can't believe that I have been called a sucker by a woman who can't remember her password. I recommend that you change your password when you remember it to: "facepalms", so that when you forget and find your face in your hands it will remind you of the password. And you must really be brave, because Lena? She has been waiting to loose that bow on someone. So sad too.. I was just really beginnig to like you. And now you have a target painted on your back.   • Hey everyone, I'm new here (got intrigued after reading 20 Question Tuesday)...

    Anyway, I just wanted to post my little personal story about Brendan.

    I was a volunteer (drug escort) at the FINA Worlds in Indy, and I just wanted to say all of us had a blast with Brendan. The ladies especially loved him after he and Piersol kept giving their flowers away after awards ceremonies (I had to calm a few girls down after they got them). I didn't get a chance to work with him, but I passed by him (and nearly plowed into him once by accident right before an event) and talked to a lot of people who did. Everyone commented how nice he was (and quite a trip when we ran out of male drug escorts)...you did well Mrs. H.

    It was swimmers like Brendan who made my trip to Indy and long hours volunteering worth it. I was an admirer before the FINA's, but now I'm definitely a fan. :)

There are Ginormous (hahah I loved Elf!) spiders down there, and no ventilation....[starts scrubbing the target off my back]...I am very sorry for gloating!
