In search of a breaststroke sweep at this summer's World Championships, Brendan Hansen is unsure of the location of his next international swimming competition.
Originally tabbed for Montreal, the World Championships now lack a home. FINA, swimming's international governing body, announced Wednesday that the championships will not be held in Montreal. The city failed -- by millions of dollars -- to raise the necessary funding for the event.
FINA is currently looking into alternatives for the meet, which is slated for July.
Hansen, a Haverford High graduate and the reigning Daily Times Sports Figure of the Year, is coming off the finest season of his illustrious career. Aside from establishing world records in the 100- and 200-meter breast events at the Olympic Trials, Hansen took home three medals from the Olympic Games.

Hi, this is the first time I've commented on the blog. I was wondering; since "the Apprentice" season premiere is tonight, does anyone know when Brendan and Ian will showing up? ;-)

So today I emailed with the folks at Montreal, and they kind of gave me some hope... I told them that I jad heard a buzz about the possibility of them being able to get the event back and if so I would still love to come... and this is what she said:
"Yes there are a lot of talks surrounding the event. Since the decision is apparently not yet final we will wait on the reimbursement process. As soon as FINA makes its final announcement, shortly hopefully, we will either reimburse your ticket or keep your reservation."
So I am putting off my depression and shame spiral until I hear for sure.

Ooh, I forgot the Apprentice starts up again today. I'll be sure to watch this season for Brendan! I just hope it doesn't conflict with the OC!

Jaclyn, I think Brendan's part in the OC was cut out at the last minute. He was supposed to play a bartender. There's a 10 second clip of someone who might be Brendan floating around (I think it's on texas-trio.com).

I watched that episode of the OC just for Brendan and I don't know how many times I fast forwarded through his part trying to find him. lol. I was told by Michelle that it might have just been his back that made the cut :(
I didn't know that Brendan is going to be on the Apprentice! Cool I can't wait!

I don't think Brendan is going to be on the Apprentice. Someone emailed me and said they weren't, but that some other swimmers were. So keep a watch out to see which ones.
