John Lohn Revealed!

We'll TRY to respect you for your mind too John.

50 Comments:

  • Awww, John is cute! Dude, you need to hang out with us more often on the blog. Don't be a stranger!

By Blogger BeachGirl, at 1/12/2005 9:50 AM

  • John is a cutie-pie...oh yeah, he's a talented writer too!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 1/12/2005 9:51 AM

  • Finally we get to see a picture of him! I'm sure he never thought he would be roped into having his picture posted when he started talking to Michelle. It's nice to finally place a face with a name. I always have a hard time remember how much of a youngin' he still is. A rather cute youngin' i must say. Although i'll refrain from saying much else, because crackinup might hurt me. *ducks and covers*

So, if we suck up, do you think he'll write more articles? In that case, *walks cautiously up to him and whispers* "So, you come here often?"

By Blogger afadingvoice, at 1/12/2005 9:51 AM

  • Apparently Team Handsome only hangs out with pretty people! ;)

By Blogger Stephie Mc, at 1/12/2005 9:54 AM

  • *Waves really wildly to John*

Yay for the pic of John and he is a cutie. Hard to believe we are about the same age. He looks alot younger than me...*goes of to sulk*....okay,I'm back. Can't dwell, now can we. :P

By Blogger blairbecky, at 1/12/2005 9:57 AM

  • I guess we continue the tradition of bringing the cute factor to the blog. He's cute and obviously intelligent. John don't be so shy! It's ok to post. We won't bite.

By Blogger Dana, at 1/12/2005 10:05 AM

  • Hi John! Nice to put a face to your incredible writing... now you need to come chat with us!

By Blogger Lena, at 1/12/2005 10:36 AM

  • Who is John?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 1/12/2005 10:55 AM

  • John is a reporter up in the Philly area who has written all the best articles about Brendan. You can find his work online on the Delaware County Times website and on the Swiminfo website.

By Blogger Michelle, at 1/12/2005 11:14 AM

  • For a journalist, he's (1) unexpectedly shy and (2) boy-next-door good looking. Does he smile? :) I wonder where he went to school.

By Blogger Dana Cara, at 1/12/2005 11:22 AM

  • Oh, finally a picture of the wonderful mysterious writer John! Poor guy probably never would have imagined that covering stories about B-Han would cause him to have his picture posted online. But, hey, I'm definitely ok with that. He's quite a cutie!

By Blogger Sarah, at 1/12/2005 11:36 AM

  • Hey there John! So nice to see you! It's gunny, when i looked at your computer screen Ihalf expected to see BHO. I mean that is what my computer is looking at! Yes ladies. Another nice looking man.. So .. uh, John? Do you have any like writing championship tattoos?

By Blogger lala, at 1/12/2005 11:58 AM

  • Ha Ha..Dana Cara has her own 20 question Wednesday going. I bet John never thought he'd be on the other side of an interview!!! I love ya DC!

By Blogger Kimberly, at 1/12/2005 12:00 PM

  • Do you have any like writing championship tattoos? You had to go there...not that I'd mind to know ;)

By Blogger Lena, at 1/12/2005 12:10 PM

  • Take it from someone who knows him personally, John is much better looking than the picture. When he walks into
a room you would think him to be a senior in high school
Some people are photogenic, some people are not. John's manner, good looks, and great writings make him stand outin a crowd. When you read his various writings you know that he has researched it and you can be sure if he quotes anyone he is very accurate. That is more than we can say about a lot of other reporters. John is definitely a credit to his profession. Someday we will be able to say "I knew John when . . ."

By Blogger Grandpop, at 1/12/2005 12:43 PM

  • Kimberly, how cute are you ... ya I'm like the beat reporter who started quizzing John the beat reporter. Pencil stuck behind my ear, trailing pages off the AP, copyedit copyedit copyedit, and referring to the time you wake up every morning as the "deadline." (warm memories of late nights at my college paper)

Brendan's Grandpop (BG) makes me wistful for my own Grandpop. And BG - I think you are very photogenic. :)

    Dana

By Blogger Dana Cara, at 1/12/2005 12:54 PM

  • hey everyone, well my picture is out there. a smile would have been nice, instead of looking like i was ready for a trip to the dentist, or about 12 years old. oh well.
you guys are all so funny and are constant entertainment. you just never know what you'll see on the site, which is one of the things that makes it great...along with the friendly atmosphere, the pics michelle digs up and the stories from everyone. i could go on.
i promise to post more often and hope to meet a bunch of you somewhere along the way. and grandpop, thanks for the kind words. hope to see you soon. say hi to grandmom for me.

By Blogger john, at 1/12/2005 12:58 PM

By Blogger jenny, at 1/12/2005 1:47 PM

  • Nice to see you finally post John. Glad the picture got you out of the land of lurkdom. Now don't be a stranger and continue to post!

By Blogger afadingvoice, at 1/12/2005 2:02 PM

  • ::waves::

Hey John! thanks for dropping by and posting. And thanks to Granpop too!

Now we need to hear more stories from you...

By Blogger Lena, at 1/12/2005 2:10 PM

  • I hate to drop this one in what is an otherwise chirpy thread but I figured it was worth the effort. There is a very real chance that there will be no 2005 World Swim Championships. Long Beach won't/can't take it, Montreal is still in limbo with a meeting scheduled with FINA later this week. I can't imagine this is a happy prospect for any of the athletes (except maybe Thorpe who was not planning to swim worlds this year). So, bottom line, if you're of the praying variety, go start a novena or light a candle. If you're of the Canadian variety, lobby your government to cough up the C-bucks to put this meet on. It's a good venue: They just haven't got their operational act together.

By Blogger Jane, at 1/12/2005 2:23 PM

  • John - wow, that's a clean desk! Is it that clean when you're not being photographed? *g* Also - Propel! I love that stuff.

By Blogger Angie, at 1/12/2005 2:33 PM

  • Yay!! Granpop & John posted, =).

    Glad to 'meet' ya :).

    -Maria

By Blogger Maria, at 1/12/2005 3:20 PM

  • So we finally get to see John! Cute pic! Thanks for all the wonderful articles John, and I hope to see you post more.

Is it just me, or does John kinda resemble David Anders (Sark from Alias)? Just me then? Ok....

By Blogger Janine, at 1/12/2005 3:33 PM

  • off the topic....I GOT A PUPPY today!!!!! I've never had a dog before (I'm very allergic, oh well I'll learn to cope!). I named him Irish (can you tell I'm a Notre Dame fan?)and he is so cute! He's a yorkie/jack russell mix. I'm in love! Sorry just had to share!

To stay on topic, again I say John=very cute!

By Blogger Kimberly, at 1/12/2005 5:47 PM

  • Mystery revealed! And a post too! *Waves to John from west coast corporate suburbia.* (Where her desk is not. that. neat.) Many thanks to John and Michelle, it's nice to finally have a face to put to the name. I can just see the caption on this photo:
Future Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist John Lohn burns the midnight HP laserjet toner....along with the friendly atmosphere, the pics michelle digs up and the stories from everyone. i could go on.
Oh please do! We're listening. (reading.) Color commentary is always appreciated.

i promise to post more often and hope to meet a bunch of you somewhere along the way.
Be careful what you wish for. ;-)

What nice things Grandpop had to say! That speaks volumes, and I recall that Mrs H. had similar compliments in an earlier thread.

By Blogger crackinup, at 1/12/2005 6:41 PM

  • Agh. Blogger just reformatted my post. Bold stuff was a separate paragraph, quoting John's post upthread. Silly blogger, trix are for kids...

By Blogger crackinup, at 1/12/2005 6:42 PM

  • Finally, I have a face to go along with the name of the wonderful writer we all appreciate! Plus a post from him and grandpop....day 12 of the New Year is officially good :)

    By Blogger lizook12, at 1/12/2005 8:28 PM

  • Ohhhh, Mr. John, seeing your clean desk makes me want to ask you one thing....

Will you come clean my apartment?

    (PS: Hi everyone!)

By Blogger Kat, at 1/12/2005 8:30 PM

  • Yay John! Great to see you post .. but you seem to be hedging my question about the writing championships or "quill" (if you will) tattoo. And so good to see grandpop we have missed you and grandmom and the rest of the family.

By Blogger lala, at 1/12/2005 8:53 PM

  • You know how rappers have "Thug Life" tattooed on their chests? Maybe John has "Journalist Life" tattooed on his.

    (I think I need sleep.)

By Blogger Kat, at 1/12/2005 9:25 PM

  • Haha Kat- Nice Tupac reference

By Blogger Anna, at 1/12/2005 9:32 PM

  • John! Its so nice to finally place a picture with your name and to see you posted. Please please don't be shy and post again some time soon =)

By Blogger Kim, at 1/12/2005 10:38 PM

  • I want to know how John keeps his desk so neat. I've been a journalist. There's no way you can keep that desk that neat ever.

But you know what, I bet if we open up his drawers they're going to be FILLED with crap that's usually on his desk. Muahhaha.

    By Blogger a, at 1/12/2005 11:00 PM

  • Deena I must agree that's like right before company comes over and you stuff EVERYTHING in your closet and drawers. And then they are like "Oh my god! You keep such a nice place." muahaha if they only knew ;o)

By Blogger Kim, at 1/12/2005 11:49 PM

  • atrophy is so right, hah!

lala raises a clever brainstorm regarding quill tattoos. I rather like that idea. It says, "Smart. But Dangerous." Much like "bad boy. but good." And what girl doesn't like a good bad boy?

BTW, John, looking young can work nicely to your benefit.
    1) You can go undercover as a college student for a "scoop."
    2) You can still get away with using your college ID to get in cheaper at movies. (I'm going on my 12th year of college this spring, *coughs innocently*.)
    3) And of course... you will be the envy of your 20 year high school reunion. And not just because you'll be the editor of Sports Illustrated by then.

By Blogger crackinup, at 1/13/2005 1:13 AM

  • Girls, girls, I leave you for one night and look what you do to poor John. He's never gonna come play and post with us again!

For the record, when I worked in the museum, my desk was neat too. Ok, one or two masterpieces of Rembrandt's etchings more, but you get the idea.

I do agree that you look younger, John, which is not a bad thing.

Finally, I did not want to inquire, but since lala brought the subject twice... we'd love to know if you have any tattoos.

By Blogger Lena, at 1/13/2005 7:55 AM

  • "But you know what, I bet if we open up his drawers they're going to be FILLED with crap that's usually on his desk. Muahhaha."

Sounds like this week's episode of Committed, where the main character stuffed all his belongings in his bedroom to make his apartment "seem clean" and then when he opened the bedroom door, it all came spilling out.

And Propel? Shouldn't you be drinking Penta or something? ;)

Thanks for the pic, it's nice to be able to match a name to a face.

By Blogger JHD, at 1/13/2005 8:46 AM

  • Hello John and thanks for the nice words about the blog. I am proud of your clean desk but am secretly hoping for the drawers being stuffed to the gills. It would make me feel better about my desk here at home that looks like a junk pile.

Kimberly, congrats on the dog. I have wanted one for awhile but the landlord said *Devil Voice* NOOOOOO! And then his head spun around....okay,that didn't happen but it still hurt my feelings. :p

By Blogger blairbecky, at 1/13/2005 9:23 AM

  • two posts in two days, guess that means you've coaxed me into more of this. is that good or bad? kidding. all right, here's the deal. desk is usually clean (sad, i know). as for the tattoo questions, answer is yes. left shoulder blade, related to my college--la salle university. it's where my dad also went and it's a link between us more than anything. talk with ya'll soon.

By Blogger john, at 1/13/2005 12:06 PM

  • Ok, get Eric working on the tattoo pics John. (just kidding - sort of ;)

By Blogger Michelle, at 1/13/2005 12:11 PM

  • I want to see this tattoo picture. Now.

    By Blogger a, at 1/13/2005 12:27 PM

  • "Ok, get Eric working on the tattoo pics John. (just kidding - sort of ;)"

We never kid about tatoo pics. ;)

John - I think you're one of us now. Just another addict to the blog. ha!

Sidenote: I never liked tatoos until I saw Brendan's. He totally changed my mind about their appeal. ;)

By Blogger Stephie Mc, at 1/13/2005 12:31 PM

  • I have always like tattoo's but Bren's just reinforced it. Odd is I don't have any. Probally because I'm scared of needles. What's weird is my dad is covered from head to toe in them. He was in the Navy if that explains it.

I'm a posting fool today because I have insomnia. I know this is weird to talk about insomnia in the middle of the day but Angie understands my pain,I'm sure. :(

By Blogger blairbecky, at 1/13/2005 12:41 PM

  • John, so nice of you to answer lala's and mine's tattoo question. As you know, here in BHO we rate tattoos really high. And yours sounds lovely... we need a pic.

Congrats on a clean desk. Ain't nothing wrong with that.

By Blogger Lena, at 1/13/2005 1:38 PM

  • Haha, John you're such a good sport. Thanks for answering the inquiry. And congratulations on the neat desk, I aspire to such achievement.

My dad and I went to the same college too, but we're bound more by sweatshirts. (See blog pic of me at age 4, my destiny was sealed before I hit kindergarten.) Oh dear lord, now I just had a visual of my dad with a tattoo. So wrong, so wrong.

By Blogger crackinup, at 1/13/2005 1:58 PM

  • This post has been removed by a blog administrator.

By Blogger lala, at 1/13/2005 2:20 PM

  • John! Yay! Thank you so much for the info about the tattoo.... So it is where Bren's rings are. Now I think it would be great if we could get a picture of you looking over your shoulder with a cheeky little grin on your face. I know I still want one from Brendan too. I was afraid I was going to have to ask you if a tiny speedo could cover it ot if it would take jammers.. but since you were a good info providing type person, I could go straight for the begging ;)

By Blogger lala, at 1/13/2005 2:24 PM

  • LaSalle, this site is just one talented Philadelphia guy after another, isn't it. ;)
    - Dana, who neg'd Penn for their archrival, but always looked at Old City a little wistfully - it definitely beat suburban Jersey in a big way ...
