WE'RE NUMBER ONE!

On Google. Thanks for all the hit's you guys!

I'm posting an old article that I found. I'm pretty sure I'd remember it if I'd seen it before as it's FANTASTIC and has some great pics of Brendan. Small and blurry, but great nonetheless. (One I would have sworn was actually Marcus Rogan it's so out of focus, but still...) And a quote in there from Mrs. H, not to mention some stuff about Brendan's training and more about 2000 Trials. A great read.

UT standout still focused on Olympics

Ok, pics are very poor quality, but the subject is the best!

Also, an article that mentions Brendans appearance in Omaha last week.

  • Oh how I've missed BHO and all of you! I'm finally back, I've been extremely busy for the past four weeks! But I'm so happy to be back, and I've just spent an hour or so catching up on all the BHO action I've missed!

  • Hi! Thought I'd come out and post here, it's such a cool site. Michelle, you are awesome, how do you find the time to do all of this?
The article was great and the pics too (I don't mind if they were a bit blurry...).
I've been reading the blog for a while, and you guys are crackin' me up with your hilarious comments. Brendan is very lucky to have such dedicated fans.

By Blogger tinkerbell, at 1/16/2005 4:39 PM

  • Someone check to make sure Lena is ok. Those pictures....wow! They are softening the blow of the sucky Colts game.

By Blogger Kimberly, at 1/16/2005 5:55 PM

  • Nice article and even nicer pics! He looks so serious though. Smile Bren, you're about to kick butt at the Trials and Olympics.

Congrats,Michelle! I always knew this was the best place to go for anything Bren. Now everybody else will too. :)

By Blogger blairbecky, at 1/16/2005 6:18 PM

  • I can handle those pictures being blurry. If they weren't I'm pretty sure I'd be in the hopsital about now.

    By Blogger lizook12, at 1/16/2005 7:59 PM

  • I knew we were always number 1!

Thanks for the new article and pics.

    Kimberly - It's Patriot's Day, baby!! haha!

  • That is so awesome Michelle, :D. Way to go!!

  • So there's this theory in swimming freelancer circles about how Brendan Hansen fans appreciate Prince William (strapping, family-oriented, classically handsome, responsible, intense, humble) and Aaron Peirsol fans appreciate Prince Harry (lean, hot, quick to smile, mysterious, casual, independent, laid back). It's a pretty good analogy, but now I think I can propose a better one. See where that article says where team sports frustrated him, because too much was out of his control? Well: think back to the T-Ball leagues we northeastern kids played in at age 5. Aaron Peirsol fans are the little team leaders yelling "don't worry, dude, shake it off" when the batter whiffs at the tee. Brendan Hansen fans are the kids with the 1000% batting averages, who get a lead off third base with an eagle eye toward the plate, watching the batter whiff, going "what the freak is wrong with that kid, how on earth can you whiff at T-ball? HIT ME HOME!"

I wonder if Brendan's parents had to take him to Friendly's or whatever on the way home from games, to distract him when they lost.

    Too cute.

Happy Holidays (tomorrow off from work - rock on...)

  • congrats michelle! now all of the brendan fans can come out of hiding and talk about brendan all the time.

great article and even greater pictures...even if they are a bit blurry.

    =D erin.

By Blogger erin, at 1/16/2005 11:37 PM

  • Dana Cara, I like the analogy with Prince William/Harry Brendan/Aaron fans. The t-ball one though, who would be the example for the kids that sat on the bench, got gum stuck in their hair, and cried when they went up to bat? I need to be their fan instead...

By Blogger Anna, at 1/16/2005 11:55 PM

  • Ok, I don't like either analogy because I'm not a fan of either Prince (they are both cute, but meh) and I've never been particulary competitive. Brendan caught my attention because of what he said about his own performance and because he treated his teammates and competitors with respect. He was obviously a tremendous talent, but so is Gary Hall. I didn't start a Gary Hall fansite and have no plans to do so in the immediate future. And for the record I also LOVE me some Peirsol.

By Blogger Michelle, at 1/17/2005 12:13 AM

  • But the intensity is pretty fabulous too. RAWR!

    And LOL Anna.

By Blogger Michelle, at 1/17/2005 12:20 AM

  • I'm with you Michelle. I became a fan of Bren's because he had this boyish energy that I adore. He was just so excited to be there but also so focused on what he wants. To have goals and give everything you have to achieve them impresses me so much. Then I got to see how down to earth, goofy and just a little weird he was on this site through his family and friends. Those are traits that I look for in people I admire and want to know more about. I also have a soft spot for Ian and Aaron because they are pretty much a package deal. How could Bren be friends and respect people if they weren't worthy? Just some random thoughts by a sleepy Blair.

By Blogger blairbecky, at 1/17/2005 7:58 AM

  • Oh of course they're worthy ... did I ever imply otherwise? They're beyond worthy and well into lovely, from what I hear across the board. :)

And I agree fully on the intensity

Anna - the crying on the bench thing - that was soooo cute.

By Blogger Dana Cara, at 1/17/2005 9:25 AM

  • LOVE the input from Mrs. H in that superbly written article. My 6-year-old son (the world's youngest curmudgeon) had his first little USS meet yesterday and I don't think there's a single 5 or 6 year-old whose limbs move in the synch all the time. (We call it "moments of clarity" when they do!) Of course that didn't stop one wench of a swim mom from coming up and saying that he had improved but he sure would never have his sister's kick (this is 11-year-old sis who swam a T16 last summer). I just smiled and told the dear woman that even his sister didn't have his sister's kick when she was 6. I'll bet the Hansen family are never creeps to sit next to at meets.

Anyway, we were so proud of our son because he had a blast (and what he doesn't know about the DQ for stopping in the backstroke and then pushing off again from the bottom of the pool won't hurt him). He thinks he got 2nd and set a PR. Shhhhh!

By Blogger Jane, at 1/17/2005 9:34 AM

  • I have been in a state of depression since the Jets loss on Saturday(stupid kicker!)...but Michelle our southern belle... dear, sweet, pretty Michelle... I'd like to thank you for pulling me back into the light with those pictures...God bless his body. can I get an Amen my sistas?
what a nice little morning wake up that is.

side note: to go back to football, again, seriously -as a kicker, it is your only job to kick the ball thru the goal posts, or kick as hard as you can for a punt...you get paid MEGA bucks to do this. and he misses....TWICE. He better hide in his house for awhile.
Steph, I needed someone who feels my pain holding my hand sat. nite!!!!

Dana- great analogy btw. I kind of like both Princes...although the Harry fiasco w/his nazi costume and then his proposed visit to the memorial for Auschwitz was not good PR.

And I am pretty sure Bren has had the Friendly's trip for a peanut butter cup sundae at least once in his life...havent we all?

    By Blogger swimphilly78, at 1/17/2005 9:36 AM

  • Jane - Congrats to your son, and he won't hear a thing from me.

Swimphilly - I'm deprived. Never been to Philly or Friendly's. I grew up in the San Francisco area so my equivalent was probably going by the local Chinese place for an eggroll.

By Blogger Michelle, at 1/17/2005 9:53 AM

  • Oh, and AMEN Swimphilly! ;)

By Blogger Michelle, at 1/17/2005 9:53 AM

  • hey, eggrolls are nothing to sneeze at Michelle - I love eggrolls. the town I grew up in didnt have any chinese food within 20miles - all we had was Friendly's and Pizza Hut.

    By Blogger swimphilly78, at 1/17/2005 10:03 AM

  • Oh of course they're worthy ... did I ever imply otherwise? They're beyond worthy and well into lovely, from what I hear across the board. :)

Dana,I wasn't saying anything about your comment. I was just rambling on about Bren and why I like him. I'm pretty sure everyone on here adores Ian and Aaron just as much as Bren. I just happen to think Bren is the hottest...heehee.

Also,I do prefer Harry because of the red hair. It runs in my family so I better get prepared to prefer it,temper and all. :) Nothing beats having a red-headed sister growing up. Except watching as she tries to deal with her own little red headed girl. My momma always said someday we would have kids just like us as a payback for the trouble we gave her. Needless to say I'm a little scared to have children.

Alas, this was not the year for someone in my family to have their favorite team in the SB. I haven't talked to my dad yet but I'm sure he is pouting about Indy as we speak....lol. Poor daddy!

Peanut butter cup sundae....that sounds good. Even though I happen to think there is nothing better on a summer day than chocolate chunk mint on a sugar cone. Yummy.

By Blogger blairbecky, at 1/17/2005 10:04 AM

  • Ah, you haven't quite lived until you've had the Friendly's Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Sundae with your buddies after a Friday night high school football game. Be warned however that it's approximately the size of a basketball, so brainfreeze is eminent.

By Blogger Verbal, at 1/17/2005 10:27 AM

  • oh man verbal...bringin back some memories! those poor friendly's waitresses used to cringe when 20 of us walked in at 10pm! ha

and blairbecky, tell your dad he can call my dad and they can cry together. i was pulling for the colts.

Jane - I coach the little ones, mostly your sons age. I love it because DQ's dont really count, and they just love to jump in the pool and come out and get their ribbon! I had one girl who was so excited to get her 15th place ribbon - it was adorable! And I know what you mean about those parents...as a coach I sometimes dread having to listen to them critique everything about their 6yr olds stroke, and how the coaches should "push them harder" ugh! thats the downside to it. all you do is just kill 'em with kindness because those are the kids that usually are burnt out by their parents by the time they're 11. I'm not sure when athletics became not fun for children...its a shame. as long as your son enjoys himself - dont worry what others think, he'll develop on his own! ;)

    By Blogger swimphilly78, at 1/17/2005 10:44 AM

  • OH man, I just went to TGI Fridays the other night, and let me tell you. Their Vanilla Bean Cheesecake...oh man..its soo good it should almost be illegal!! Its almost as yummy as those pics of Bren:) If you go the Fridays I highly recommend it.

By Blogger LongHornLove, at 1/17/2005 11:29 AM

  • "OH man, I just went to TGI Fridays the other night, and let me tell you. Their Vanilla Bean Cheesecake...oh man..its soo good it should almost be illegal!! Its almost as yummy as those pics of Bren:) If you go the Fridays I highly recommend it."

If there's no chocolate on it, there's no point in its advertising itself as dessert. There are a few exceptions, like pumpkin pie slathered in whipped cream, but vanilla anything does not qualify as an exception. At least not in my book. YMMV.

But I will agree that Friday's has fabulous desserts. What I love from Friday's is the Oreo Madness.

By Blogger JHD, at 1/17/2005 12:12 PM

  • Bah! Dessert. Give me the Key West Grouper and I'll be happy. In fact, I think I may go have that for dinner. They also have this new chicken enchilada dish that is FAB! Hmmm. It's going to be a tough choice.

But back to Brendan. Has anyone ever seen a better body? I mean, in all seriousness, have you? And who's was it? I can't believe Nike left him out of the catalog.

By Blogger Michelle, at 1/17/2005 12:28 PM

  • But back to Brendan. Has anyone ever seen a better body? I mean, in all seriousness, have you? And who's was it? I can't believe Nike left him out of the catalog.Word. Brendan does have an amzing bod and Nike is insane for not useing it. *curses upon Nike, even if they are his sponsor*

Sidenote: McHottie, your body is nice too from what I've seen but until I see you in a speedo I have to favor your little brother at least in that area. Anytime you're ready to prove him wrong, I will, I mean we will be waiting! *bats eyelashes innocently* ;)And as for dessert, Friendly's is ok, but give me the Cheesecake Factory anyday!

And with that, I am off to eat my baby carrots. *curses diet*

Oh, and swimphilly - I would have glady held your hand. I feel your pain..there's always next year. GO PATS!!

By Blogger Stephie Mc, at 1/17/2005 1:31 PM

  • thanks steph! thank God my roommies think my football behavior is "quirky" and not crazy.

cheesecake factory - oh lord...who went there? i cant see the post screen from the post a comment screen...i know it was mentioned...bad bad place...

speaking of dessert steph - I can vouge that mchottie can hold his own in a speedo. yep yep.

    By Blogger swimphilly78, at 1/17/2005 1:36 PM

  • speaking of dessert steph - I can vouge that mchottie can hold his own in a speedo. yep yep.I'm just sayin' we could use some photographic evidence *whistles innocently* but one expert opinion is enough to at least keep me interested... ;)

And yes, The Cheesecake Factory is eville, but I love it anyway..just can't go there. I can feel myself gaining 5 lbs just thinking about it!

By Blogger Stephie Mc, at 1/17/2005 1:42 PM

  • yeah, i re-read what i posted and thought, okay some people's minds might be in the gutter...ahem, I can vouge because I've seen him swim.
and pics of that will be harder than a post.

    By Blogger swimphilly78, at 1/17/2005 1:50 PM

  • Snaps up to you, swimphilly, for coaching the 8&Unders. But, parents aside, that's still my favorite age group to watch. The reasons for DQs are so much more imaginative at that age. Until yesterday, I never knew about the deke for touching the bottom of the pool! Makes sense -- just never thought about the possibility of it happening before. Of course I also never thought a swimmer could get away with a dolphin kick at the Olympic level. Oh, the things I continue to learn about this sport!

By Blogger Jane, at 1/17/2005 1:53 PM

  • "side note: to go back to football, again, seriously -as a kicker, it is your only job to kick the ball thru the goal posts, or kick as hard as you can for a punt...you get paid MEGA bucks to do this. and he misses....TWICE. He better hide in his house for awhile."

swimphilly--yes! thank you for agreeing with me. my entire family was trying to defend the guy after he lost the game for us. We ha d awhole big party to watch the game, and after it was over, we all just sat there, kind of stunned. WHat made it worse what that we could have had it. I mean, its not like we got our asses kicked, we seriously could have easily won that thing. So, i feel you pain. Being a New Yorker, I can definitely say it stings a bit.

As to the article, its great! I really liked the wasy it was written, and the quotes from Mrs. H. I also didn't mind the pictures that went with it. ;)

Us? In the gutter? No way..we're ladies here, remember? And hey, we always have to ask for the impssible..McHottie in a Speedo or a pic of the longhorn tatoopps, forgot we aren't supposed to talk about that. We can dream, can't we? ;)

Would it help if I said that I needed a post or a pic from him, or he'll loose me forver? *innocent smile* As tough as it would be for me to make that statement, I would do it for the good of the blog. No? Wouldn't help? Alright..well..I'll just make my way back to my house in Denialville. *blink*

By Blogger Stephie Mc, at 1/17/2005 2:05 PM

  • That was a great article, thanks for posting Michelle. (What? John has competition?) And I rather agree about the startling photo similarity to our favorite Austrian backstroker - I looked on this site last night and was like, "Uh, why's there a picture of Markus on here?" *grin*

Jane, I busted out laughing at your story about your son and the DQ. Little kids are such a riot to watch, despite the misfortune that there are always those parents who take it too seriously. Hell, I was probably 11 before I could swim fly (and thus IM) without getting DQd, and it ended up being my best event. At 6 years old, all that counts is that they have fun.

Dana C - methinks the freelancing swimmer circles must be really bored. LOL. I suspect that if any of Bren or Aaron's [female] fans yelled, "Shake it off!," it would have nothing to do with losing a race.

I'm with JHD on chocolate. There are other flavors?

I was of 2 minds that game. On one hand, I wanted the Steelers to win, because of college alliegences. Ben has put Miami University on the football map, so you gotta go with that.

On the other hand, my friend Damon was the BIGGEST Jets fan I knew. He died a year and a half ago of sleep apnea, same as Reggie White. I know he was watching the game so I wanted the Jets to win for him.

This coming weekend? All bets are off, I'm rooting for an all-Pennsylvania Super Bowl.

By Blogger JHD, at 1/17/2005 2:50 PM

  • well, crackinup, if the DQ amused you (as it did me), you might like the story of the discussion we had with our son before his first race. He asked his father, "Will you be happy if I win?" And my husband told him, "Hey, we'll be happy if you come in last. We just want you to have fun." And he thought about that a moment or two, and then said, "Why would you want me to come in last?"

Of course that's tame compared to the frigid night I had to take him to swim practice and he was moaning about it, and I told him, "Look, some day when you're up there on the podium at the Olympics getting your gold medal, you're gonna say,'Thank you, Mom, for taking me to all those practices.'" And my little curmudgeon looked at me and said, "You don't know that." And I said, "I don't know what?" And he replied, "You don't know that I'll say that!"

By Blogger Jane, at 1/17/2005 3:54 PM

  • Sorry it took me too long to reply, busy days...
I'm gonna just say that the speedos look lovely in Brendan and that I noticed the ressemblance with Markus Antonius (that name is gonna be the death of me).

    Steph, A+. Prof. Lena approves.

Finally, a note to Sean, if he's reading this. I don't know about Philly, but where I come from, a thirld world country with lots of issues, when a lady request attention from a certain gentleman, it's understood that this certain gentleman would reply with a least one word to let her know he's listening. After all, it's only two seconds of his time and with such little would bring joy into the heart of the lady in question.
But I guess it's just in Argenina then... my mistake.

SwimPhilly...I've got a shot of Jagermeister with your name on it! One for me too! I'm having a loser party at my house! You can come too! I'm inviting Fabini, and Manning. You know Peyt needs something to drink..he was choking the whole game!

  • Hah, I finally clicked on the Google link above, and we're sadly at #3 now. BUT, and here's the funny part, #9 is the Brendan Hansen love match at CelebMatch.com.

LOL. Nice. Can't imagine how that happened.

Jane, my favorite thing about kids is that they say the funniest things without actually *trying* to be funny. Much like Gary Hall Jr, children can be comedy gold.

By Blogger crackinup, at 1/17/2005 7:16 PM

  • Kimberly - I am so there, thanks! I prefer tequila though...although I was pacing aroundmy living room w/ a bottle of Spiced rum...very reminiscent of a certain few weeks in August 2004....

    By Blogger swimphilly78, at 1/17/2005 7:16 PM

By Blogger LongHornLove, at 1/17/2005 8:18 PM

  • LongHornLove...you are more then welcome! We need a good bartender..although I think Swimphilly will agree with me when I say, after those two games..we are drinking straight from the bottle! You can keep us well stocked! Swimphilly must also bring Cutie! Sounds like a party.

  • cups, glasses, mugs will not be needed kimberly, longhornlove.... although now that I really dont care who wins cuz my team is out of it. did I mention the stupid kicker? And for the 1st time my friends were cheering for the Jets, even Bren called me to say he was pulling for them, and that didnt help! still bitter.
    I guess I can be a lady and use a glass...a shotglass!

michelle I may want to pull that pic...ugh

    By Blogger swimphilly78, at 1/18/2005 7:53 AM

  • We played Patriots Machine, which is where you do a shot of leftover christmas eggnog (oh, that stuff gets SO GOOD when you leave it in the fridge for a few weeks) every time the Patriots do something ridiculous. I was feeling no pain at all near the end -- Vrabel, Bruschi, WOW - We played a modified version with the Jets where we did mai tais to salute Vilma's Miamian roots. This is the stuff you get when you invite Court to your party, high school stud turned post-college hot ESPN-savvy bartender slacker.

Looks like everyone had fun here over MLK day ... good game-day plans for next week yet? :)

  • Hi All, I think I remember this reporter but never saw the article. Thanks Michelle. You seem to be able to find out things a lot better than me.

Jane, I told the reporter the story about Brendan and his first experiences because I wanted other parents to know it is not always wonderful in the beginning. I actually bribed him with a slurpee (slushes) at 7-11 store. I was so embarrassed at the shouting the coach had to do. The other coaches would come out of the office and say, "Brendan, having his private lesson today?" I would say yes. Then they would go back in the office and come back out with ears filled with cotton. I laughed, but at the end of the lesson I ask his coach if we should stop. He then told me that Brendan had the strongest kick he has ever seen, it will take time. He then taught Brendan the Breaststroke bc you don't really kick and pull at the same time. After his lesson I said to Brendan, if you listen to John and do better the next time, I will buy you a slurpee any flavor. I got off easy. He was a great guy, his coach. He died of cancer at the age of 51. He coached Brendan until he was 14 years old.
Some other things we said to our children when swimming, "You win everytime you lower your time. Places don't really matter." Years later that statement haunted me at Trials in 2000, but was good up until then. Actually, Brendan wasn't too upset at Trials after he saw how well he did with his times dropping.
I do sit in the stands and watch other parents. I get some really good laughs. I have a contest with my brother who can pick out the most loudest, crazy one.
Jane, my advice, keep it fun! Sounds like you are on the right track. Brendan use to say to me, "Mom, I want to go to the Olympics, someday". My response was, "That is great honey, now did you clean your room like I asked". One never knows!
Lena, don't be upset with Sean. He never goes on Brendan's web page. He only had a computer at work. Brendan just bought him one for home so maybe there is hope? Said way too much already, sorry, Mrs.H

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 1/18/2005 9:23 AM

  • Swimphilly - too late, it's up already. :D

Mrs. H - the Slurpee bribe still works with mine. When it stops working I'm in serious trouble.

By Blogger Michelle, at 1/18/2005 10:00 AM

  • "That is great honey, now did you clean your room like I asked".

Hee, Mrs. H! From everything we've seen and heard, it looks like you've done a great job of grounding Bren and sibs in reality while still encouraging their dreams.

  • !Mrs. H - the Slurpee bribe still works with mine. When it stops working I'm in serious trouble."

Yeah, that is what my mom said... that it was easier to bribe us while kids.

Swimphilly... you look gorgeus, piba. Stop complaining! Some of us have not been blesses with such natural beauty and you don't see us whining...

Mrs H, thanks for posting. Lovely stories as usual and the room cleaning comment cracked me up! I can picture it in my head.
And OK, I'll let Sean off the hook... for now.
But Sean, you still owe us a post. It's what any gentleman would have done. You know, I know it... and now everybody else does.
(sorry, I cannot help myself sometimes... but that it's why you bloggers love me)

  • swimphilly-i have something that may cheer ya up...its kind of out of the blue...but i remember back near christmas you and lena talking about something called dulce de leche...did you ever find anywhere that sold it here in the states? Because if not I have found a company that makes it-we bought some the other day and its wonderful i must say.

  • lena you're making me blush...sorry to whine, there was a pic that I foudn after i sent this one where I was a litle more, um, ahem...sober.

nothing like a blue-raspberry slurpee on a hot summers day. can you picture a little brendan sitting in the backseat of the car, holding his Mega-slurp with his big hands? too cute

longhorn- that does make me happy! where/what/how do I find it?!

    By Blogger swimphilly78, at 1/18/2005 10:54 AM

  • "nothing like a blue-raspberry slurpee on a hot summers day. can you picture a little brendan sitting in the backseat of the car, holding his Mega-slurp with his big hands? too cute"

Are you trying to kill me? Cause it's working... ;)

and I can mail you dulce de leche!

By Blogger Lena, at 1/18/2005 11:00 AM

  • It's only fair, Lena. I think you were trying to kill me earlier....

But the image is cracking me up.

By Blogger JHD, at 1/18/2005 11:09 AM

  • Swimphilly - send me the sober picture too. I'll collage them into a Before / After kinda thing. ;)

By Blogger Michelle, at 1/18/2005 11:11 AM

  • "It's only fair, Lena. I think you were trying to kill me earlier...."

I wasn't the one that fed me the comment on a plate... you bring a toga to a convo, what do you expect me to do? ;)

By Blogger Lena, at 1/18/2005 11:13 AM

  • Imagine us all with blue raspberry slurpees and the blue lips that always result from them. :) Parental bribery always went a long way with me too. :)

  • Swimphilly, you're quite the hottie. It's a great pic. Is there something in the water up there that makes y'all so pretty? Lena, you were blessed with natural beauty. Don't doubt yourself. :D

Yummy, slurpy! I'm the person who drinks the whole thing pretty much at once because I'm impatient. Then I don't feel good but it's worth it. I love slushies. If I go to the movies I have to get the blue-raspberry slushie and nachos. If the machine is down or something I feel lost and it ruins my whole movie experience.

Mrs. H,great story! I think my mom would have said the same thing to me about going to the Olympics. Kids are such dreamers but that's what makes them so special. Give yourself alot of credit though. You were there through all the years of training and such. Dreams need alot of nourishment to grow. That's my quote for the day.

Poor Sean doesn't know what he's missing. Even though I think he secretly visits and doesn't tell anyone. How can anyone not be addicted to this site? :p

  • Ok swimphilly....Ive been reading these posts sweetie, and I know about your Jets (I felt for you I really did)....HOWEVER....let us not forget that you live in PHILLY...go to clubs in PHILLY....have friends in PHILLY...post on the blog from PHILLY...got Bren to go into PHILLY....and your blogging name is swimPHILLY....need I say more??? except that I want to hear a little cheering for the Eagles now.....after all you live in Philly (or did I already mention that??)

By Blogger Aunt K, at 1/18/2005 11:35 AM

  • Ooops Longhornlove. We were both deleting duplicates at the same time. Here is Longhornloves post:

swimphilly-we just went to the local grocery store and got it. Its made by this dessert company called Entenmann's. It comes in a white box, and its only about 4 dollars. The store we were at had it on a table in one of the aisles near where they had the milk. Don't know if that confuses you or not.
I did search and there is an Entenmann's bakery in Philly:

    Entenmann's Bakery Thrift Store
Address: 12331 Academy Rd, Philadelphia, PA 19154
    Phone: (215) 824-4850

    Hope that helps.

  • Hi Aunt K - Verbal will be in here soon with her Iggles love. I'm sure she'll be happy to cheer with you.

By Blogger Michelle, at 1/18/2005 11:46 AM

  • Its okay Michelle..thanks for reposting it!

By Blogger LongHornLove, at 1/18/2005 11:57 AM

  • Aunt K,I must say,you are quite good at the guilt trip. By the way,my Mom is a Philly girl so I was rooting for both the Colts and the Eagles. I probally shouldn't put that out there because here lately I have been bad luck. I went on the lunch hour cappuccino run and got the guys some lottery tickets they wanted. What are the chances of buying $10 dollars worth of scratch off's and not winning anything. They were quick to point out that was the first time they had ever not even won a dollar. I've been banned from buying them from now on. :(

By Blogger blairbecky, at 1/18/2005 12:11 PM

  • Don't tell anyone but I am secretly rooting for Philly..but should they meet the Pats in the Super Bowl, I can not in good conscious cheer for them any longer because 1) I live in New England 2) I will be run out of town. You don't want me to be homeless do you? So that's as far as my allegiance can go.

Wow..can't believe I admitted that. You never saw this post. You can't trace it back to me. No one saw me do it.

  • Michelle, we actually have Entenmann's pastries here. In fact, I live right by an overstock outlet of theirs which is just bad news.

Aunt K - I'm excited about the Eagles, but I'm fearing the Vick. For real. Someone needs to take him out for mucho cheeseteaks the night before the game. But I agree that there is waaaay too much Jets & Pats talk here. Who do you people think you're dealing with? Fuzzy & cuddly Eagles fans? No such animal. ;)

By Blogger Verbal, at 1/18/2005 12:26 PM

  • Yeah, you look really vicious in your Roots hat Verbal. We are soooo scared. ;)

By Blogger Michelle, at 1/18/2005 12:34 PM

  • Stephie! I saw that! I saw that you aren't rooting for the Patriots. As a representative from Boston, I think that I am going to have to regulate this and your penace is: you must go to the cheesecake factory, finagle a bagel, and brighams ice cream all this week. If you don't live near these fabulous locales, I will be more than happy to direct you. Perhaps this will get you more in the Boston spirit:) Cheesecake factory is not so much Boston, but we don't have it in New York and yeah, you just need to go for me. All kidding aside... I was rooting for the Jets. Sorry about the loss, Swimphilly!

By Blogger Heather, at 1/18/2005 12:59 PM

  • That is proof positive why you should never post your picture on the internet, regardless of how the webmistress extraordinaire strokes your ego at the time. :P Michelle has luckily never had to tolerate my screaming at the television or mindlessly throwing objects around the sportbar while I'm watching a game.

By Blogger Verbal, at 1/18/2005 1:17 PM

  • oops. Stephie, I read your post wrong. You are loyal to Boston! Your punishment wasn't too rough though:) You should still go to all of them and I will be incredibly jealous!

By Blogger Heather, at 1/18/2005 1:22 PM

  • Hey Stephie, if you are booted out of town you can come live with me. I have three empty bedrooms. Cheer for the underdogs, the Eagles.
We are suppose to get a bad snow storm on Sunday, the day of the game. My dad says it will prevent Vick from running. Hope it goes in our favor??
    "Fly Eagles fly", Mrs.H
I am worn out with the, "Hook'm Horns"

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 1/18/2005 1:26 PM

  • Oh dear Heather - You misunderstood. I am totally rooting for New England. (Hello, Tom Brady!) I was just saying that I am rooting for Philly this week as well. In the Super Bowl though, well Philly is just outta luck. I can not root for them and expect to live.

And oh my god, do not tempt me. 1)Cheesecake Factory = DEATH 2) Finagle a Bagel = DEATH via turkey, lettuce, tomato, sprouts and loads of veggie cream cheese on a 9 grain bagel sandwiches and 3)Brigham's = DEATH via Big Dig sundaes! Nope, nope all evil..I can't go there. Are you trying to kill me, girl? haha

To prove my loyalty I will just say GO PATS and be done with it! (Just don't tell my Bronco lovin friends/family. I don't want to get kicked out of the fan club. And we all know they're mounting a comeback for next season!)

By Blogger Stephie Mc, at 1/18/2005 1:28 PM

  • Hey Stephie, if you are booted out of town you can come live with me. I have three empty bedrooms."

Uhh...ummm..on second thought...GO EAGLES!! (Don't kill me, Heather! You know you'd switch allegiances too if you were invited to live with the Hansens!);)

By Blogger Stephie Mc, at 1/18/2005 1:37 PM

  • Ok, I officially boot Stephie out of Boston. Mrs. H, I think you will have to take her in!

p.s Stephie, drop by New York with some finagle-a- bagels on the way to the Hansens.

By Blogger Heather, at 1/18/2005 1:53 PM

  • Hey big sister of mine....MrsH....what is the status of your health insurance?? Do you have a doctor or nurse living in shouting distance??? Or is your CPR certification current??? I ask because I am seeing Stephie being shown into Sean's old bedroom and this sweet young girl having heart failure right before your eyes....here is another visual, Bren is home on a visit and the two of them accidently (?) meet the hall on the way to the bathroom...oh I could go on and on here...

By Blogger Aunt K, at 1/18/2005 2:04 PM

  • Ah, bribery! It's what real parents do. Thank you very much for sharing, Mrs. H. And the room-cleaning thing rings true in this household, too. My daughter, the otherwise straight-arrow oldest child, is a world-class slob. Just the other week, her dance teacher, in pitching a summer training program to me, promised that her studying with this particular teacher "would change her outlook on dance and life." I asked him if that meant she'd start cleaning her room after doing this program.

  • "Bren is home on a visit and the two of them accidently (?) meet the hall on the way to the bathroom...oh I could go on and on here..."

Aunt K- you have just triggered my mind....now I'm wishing I had an invite to stay at the Hansens house...**crosses fingers** haha

By Blogger LongHornLove, at 1/18/2005 2:11 PM

  • ha ha!!! i leave for an hour and whoa!

okay - michelle, I will send a sober, serious swimphilly pic. baby pics count right?

blairbecky - you are sweet. but is your monitor blurry? i think you need to adjust it(use the little dial under the screen) ;)

Aunt K - now I feel bad...I DO love Philly!! and it is very hard for me to NOT cheer for the eagles...
Let me explain to all, its a proven fact I am a sports jinx. My teams ALWAYS lose. Its okay, I am used to it. My friends and family know this, so I promised them I will cheer against the Eagles.
(But since I live in the city, if a certain team happens to have a parade, to celebrate...ahem...a certain "super" victory... oh I dont know, say around early Feb. you are all invited to come down to my house(one block from the parade route) for the party.)
And yes, even though Bren came into the city to hang out, and even though he cheered for my Jets saturday...I will have to cheer against him in 2008.
    **ducking blogger punches**
this will ensure him a gold medal. trust me people...it will work.

Longhornlove - Entemann's is my FAV. thank you so much! you guys are all awesome on here.

heather -thank you for cheering for the Jets. we 6 remaining fans appreciate the support! ;)

    By Blogger swimphilly78, at 1/18/2005 2:15 PM

  • stephie- haaaaaaa
yes come down and live here! any of us philly people will take you in! you can live with sean - you, bren, sean...Three's Company! haaaaa
Queue song - Everybody sing "Come and knock on the door...we'll be waiting for you..."

poor steph is gonna have to leave work.

  • If the Jets ever do triumph over the mighty Eagles, cocktails at Dana Cara's in NYC - maybe Heather and I can co-host :) Unlike darling swimphilly, we are LEGITIMATE GEOGRAPHIC JETS FANS. Ha. If they ever build the new stadium, (two words: OLYMPICS 2012), I will be within walking distance of it. Party on.

Until then, I'll happily root for the Eagles - Donovan is an easy man to like and respect, on top of being an absolutely phenomenal player, he has a great family. And like McNabb and his mom, I just had an adorable vision of Mrs. H and Brendan in those Campbell's Soup commercials - maybe she can knit Aaron and Ian scarves, and we can all dump gatorade on her when Brendan wins gold in 2008. :)

  • I haven't posted for awhile, so I thought that since everyone keeps talking about the Patriots and the Eagles I would mention the other team in Pennsylvania, the one that has won the Super Bowl. I'm sorry that the Jets lost Swimphilly, I thought for sure we were gonna lose if that makes you feel better. Anyways I'm not sure if we will beat New England but if we do it would be a cool super bowl with both teams from PA. Its freezing here and I must head to class in my cast, but I will talk to all of you soon. I must say that all of you are awesome, especially the Hansen clan.
