All about the Brenjamins!
Wednesday night chat recap by Atrophy:
POLITICS
POLITICS
- He didn't watch the State of the Union last night (swim practice get in the way, maybe?)
- He didn't vote in the last election, because he wasn't sure which state he was registered in.
BOOZE & FOOD
- Apparently, he has learned nothing from the Trudy's Bar Crawl and, upon finding out that Lena was already drunk, wished he was drunk too. Do you miss the fetal position, Bren?
- Steak? Steak is good.
- His favourite Skittle colour is red.
- As he was typing to us, he was eating almonds. Because almonds are a good source of protein and he has to "grow up to be big & strong."
- Diet? What diet? He's on the "eat everything diet." (And, as a swimmer, he can afford to be on this diet.)
- He still doesn't like Ramen.
SUPER BOWL + FOOTBALZZZZZZZ
- He's having Lena cook for his Super Bowl party. Better check the mailbox, Lena, your plane ticket is there!
- He wonders why, exactly, StephieMc wants to go to the party, since Sean (aka Cutie McHottie) won't be there.
- Big surprise: Brendan predicts the Eagles will win the Super Bowl. I'd say something about how right or wrong he is, but I know nothing about football, so I'll go with it.
- Super Bowl commercials? "Rule."
- If you're lucky enough to be invited to his swinging Super Bowl party, you'll have the privilege of watching the event on his 50 inch plasma TV. Yes, 50 inch TV. Brendan, I'm moving in tomorrow.
- Even though he has this gorgeous, gorgeous TV, he never has time to watch it. I will gladly take the TV off your hands for you, babe.
ABOUT HIS DAY
- Classes were alright, but he was way tired…
- Because practice was "sooooooo hard." Eddie tore him up and he "was dead." And his legs hurt just walking up the stairs. (That's what happens when you're an Olympian, Brendan!)
- In response to his legs hurting, he got many people offering to give him a massage.
HOME, SWEET HOME
- The only thing his house doesn't have is an elevator.
- Aaron lives in "the west wing" of the house.
- His mom has seen his home and loves it.
- He loves his house too. Which is good, considering he has to live there.
HEAVEN
- He has "sick sheets." They're the best, 1200 thread count, four pillows.
- His bed is a king-sized pillow top, not a waterbed.
- He doesn't mess around with bedding. Which is why he calls his bed 'heaven'.
- Bed is where he spends most of his time. And with a bed like that and a TV like that, I will gladly join you in there.
SCHOOL
- He may need some tutoring for his Communications classes. (Brendan, call me!)
- One of his classes this semester is Organizational Leadership.
- He could always use tutors. We don't know if this is in the "wink, wink; nudge nudge" sense or seriously, but there you go.
DESTINATION: AUSTIN, TX
- He could live in Austin for awhile longer
- He doesn't miss Havertown too much (Sorry, Mrs. H) - he "loves Austin."
- Brendan's never been to the Alamo.
- He likes to eat at Rudy's. (calls up Rudy's staff to warn them of mass crowds rushing in)
- He says "y'all" all the time.
LABS AND DUCKS AND DOLPHINS, OH MY!
- Jack is two and he knows some tricks. One trick he knows is that he can push the water dispenser on the fridge and get water whenever he wants. That is some trick.
- As the chat was going on, Jack was staring at Brendan's almonds. He thinks they were a jar of treats.
- He used to have a pet duck that lived in his bathtub. Then Jack came and Jack wanted to eat the duck and Brendan had to choose between the two, so he picked Jack. (Good choice.) No word on what happened to the duck though. (Was there some roast duck for dinner that night? Who knows.)
- He finally got the blue dolphin crap cleaned up. "Michelle, damn her," says Brendan.
SWIMMING STORIES
- One time, he came up after a turn in the wrong lane. Brendan then thought that the kid was in his lane, so he shoved him out. This was last year. (Kidding! This is when he was a tot.)
- He chose breaststroke because "it's the best stroke." I have to agree.
- He once broke his piggy (pinky?) toe while swimming - he kicked the lane-line during a breaststroke kick. But you should have seen the other guy - he broke the lane-line too.
OLYMPIC STORIES
- The funniest thing that happened was at the Red Bull Party.
- That's all we know. Because he wouldn't share anything more with us.
- Another time, the team was getting off a bus, and a South African guy was staring at Amanda Beard. The guy then walked into a pole because he was staring so hard. People laughed. (The South African guy wasn't Ryk Neethling.)
- Apart from training, the team didn't do much else in Valldemosa, Spain because they weren't really allowed to do anything.
- He saw all of Athens and there wasn't anything about the city he didn't like.
UP NEXT
- He will be at the UT vs. TAMU meet this weekend.
- His next big meet is in April (US Nationals).
- He will be "soooooo ready" for the Worlds & will be expecting a personal best time.
- He plans to keep swimming until 2008, at least.
- He will be filming a commercial for Nike, but hasn't done anything for it yet.
- He'll be in Southern California in May, and I will be buying him a beer. I mean, he will be at a swim clinic. And then I will be buying him a beer.
ET CETERA
- The Trio are never far from each other, apparently - Aaron lives with him (which we knew) and Ian Crocker lives about a mile away.
- They went out last Saturday (Jan. 29th) and got into some "Calvin & Hobbes" trouble.
- Speaking of "Calvin & Hobbes," that's his favourite comic.
- The best gift from a fan? A blue dolphin for Jack. (Yay, Michelle!)
- Usual bedtime is 10 p.m.
- Someone once told Brendan that he looks like Nick Lachey. The entire room disagreed with that person.
- If he could race anyone, it'd be Mark Spitz. If he could compete in any other Olympic sport, it'd be snowboarding.
- Sunday mornings rule. Because he "sleeps, wakes up, falls back to sleep - oohhh [he] loves it."
- His favourite book is "Catcher in the Rye."
- He hasn't been to church since Christmas.
- Sean and Brendan always share a birthday celebration since their birthdays are a day apart.
- He "refuses to go on thefacebook.com." So, lets put that topic away.
- Green Day is good & he likes the new song.
- The most outrageous thing he's done for a girl? Bought her diamond earrings. He didn't say who this girl was though.
- He has no lady in his life right now.
- "Groundhogs rule."
- Brendan is aware that his mother's computer is out of commission. There was no response to the room's demands that he buy a new computer for her. (btw, Mrs. H is now back online! Woot!)

Good job on the recap, Atrophy! Everything was going so fast last night, I was afraid I'd missed something. Now, how is your swim practice coming along? ;)
By
BeachGirl, at 2/03/2005 2:12 PM
Great recap Deena. You were able to pull out the chat gems nicely. It was going so fast last night, I felt for you. Now I have all the goodies right in front of me to read. Thanks for doing it!
By
afadingvoice, at 2/03/2005 2:34 PM
Aww Deena you did a great job of recapping...especially with how crazy it was last night!

Great job on the recap, atrophy. I had a good time last night chatting with all of you guys. It was my first real time chatting, and it all went so fast my head was spinning trying to keep up with everything. I better practise for the next time. Don't think I will be spending all night chatting until next week,'cause I need my beauty sleep, and I will get all moody if I don't.

tinkerbell, at 2/03/2005 3:44 PM

Great job Deena! I agree with Kris, you picked out some good things =)
Oh! I remember one....
Since Mandy Moore is taken (again) there is no "new lady" in his life.

Ahhhh...thanks for the recap!
Anyone want to help me take down my school's firewall?
By

By
jessica_1413, at 2/03/2005 4:35 PM
Great recap Atrophy - thanks! I was there, but it was all just happening so fast that I missed a few things! Just one other thing - if Brendan could have one super power, he said he'd want x-ray vision. He didn't respond to the next question of whether he means x-ray vision of buildings or of fabrics. Since this is a pg board, I'll assume he means the building kind. ;)
P. S. Thanks for taking the time to chat with us pumpkin!
By
daytripper, at 2/03/2005 4:36 PM
Thanks so much atrophy!!! I was at the chat but had to go to bed, so I'm grateful for the catch up :) That was one crazy chat though, so many people! I hope Brendan can do another one soon, it was so cool to have him there. By the way I'm a pretty good cook, good for a person whos on "an eat everything diet." ;)
By
_cesca_, at 2/03/2005 4:50 PM
Thanks for the recap atrophy! I couldn't remember myself all the things Bren said last night. He was so great to have kept chatting past his bedtime. Thanks Brendan! It was fun, and next time I'm gonna think of some good questions to ask.
By
Janine, at 2/03/2005 5:05 PM
Excellent recap Atrophy! I can't believe that are so may reasons that Bren's bed is Heaven. I thought reason one was enough ...... but nice sheets too? Bonus! my goodness that chat was crazy. But fun!
By
lala, at 2/03/2005 5:25 PM

Great recap atrophy! I was hoping you would post that soon!
It sucks that I had to miss the chat, because it sounded like so much fun, but your recap almost makes it seem like I was there. lol I'll def. have to make the next one!
Thanks again!

Awesome recap, Atrophy. That chat was so much fun last night, I'm so glad Brendan could join us. :)
By
Alexandra, at 2/03/2005 7:07 PM
WHY? Why are there still AnonyMice and lurkers ? I just don't get it. You people make my blood boil. That hurts my cold, black heart. Come out, come out , wherever you are. I know you are there. I can feel your fear.
By
Eville Admin, at 2/03/2005 7:08 PM
atrophy...beautiful job on the recap. After the chat last night I closed my eyes and still saw the computer screen with comments going up. It was pretty funny when he asked what color skittles everyone liked, never saw a stream of comments so fast. Oh and congrats to Michelle's admin's, trying to get others to talk etc...you also did an awesome job. I am sure Bren appreciates it.
I posted on the other thread about WC. Bren said last night he is hoping for a personal best....I was so surprised none of you ladies caught that and made a comment...his personal best is the WR. Now I'm not holding you to that Bren...just need ya to beat the screaming dolphin boy...OK.
By
Aunt K, at 2/03/2005 7:12 PM
I am so disappointed that I did miss the chat.....twice! I had long day yesterday after my third midterm exam and thought power nap would help. Unfortunately....I had 2 hours of nap instead of a half hour nap. Thanks for those who post recaps. I hope Bren will be there next wednesday and I will have to drink a gallon of coffee.
By
Maxine, at 2/03/2005 7:21 PM
Bren said last night he is hoping for a personal best....I was so surprised none of you ladies caught that and made a comment...his personal best is the WR. Now I'm not holding you to that Bren...just need ya to beat the screaming dolphin boy...OK
oops. You're right, Aunt K, we should have. Personally, I was too busy cheering a bit that Bren actually got a chance to answer my question, that what he actually answered went right over my head. (And we've talked about this, I'm short enough that that's easy to do.....) I did notice though that the only person he's focused on his Cheatijima, and not any other swimmer, so I think Bren'll crush him!
By
JHD, at 2/03/2005 7:24 PM
Chat was very funny and interesting last night, =). Someone best described it as "dizzying", lol.
-Maria :)
By
Maria, at 2/03/2005 7:43 PM
Thanks Aunt K for the lovely words. I just hope everyone had a nice time.
I checked the mailbox today but nothing... :(
By
Lena, at 2/03/2005 8:12 PM
Thanks,Deena. I knew there would be some stuff I would miss and then I had to go to work. Darn that having to work for a living. And yes we should definitely let facebook go. :)
Sorry,Aunt K,I don't even remember Bren saying that about his personal best. Must have missed it in all the craziness. Crazy in a good way though.
By
blairbecky, at 2/03/2005 8:58 PM
Atrophy, thanks for the recap. It was fun last night besides the fact that my eyes were watering like a mother from the chat going by so fast. Great first experience i guess. haha.
when he asked how old everyone was. . .classic.
By
pickford76, at 2/03/2005 10:12 PM
Atrophy last nights chat was awesome! i think everybody had an awesome time i know i did! thanks for the recap! and thats to all the admins for a great chat.. Lena, Michelle, EvilleAdmin, Atropy and everybody else who i missed associated with BHO! great chat my vision is finally getting back to normal now!
By
jessica_1413, at 2/03/2005 10:21 PM
Wonderful job on that Deena. I didn't realize that much info came out last night. I think my head was spinning too fast! :p
As always, wonderful to have you Bren. And thank you Aunt K, we try our bestest. :)
By
Sarah, at 2/03/2005 10:46 PM
Hey there Aunt K, I did catch that personal best comment, but I was too busy handing out beatings to comment much. And you are so right about the skittles thing. It was sick. I would also say "thank you " about the review of the Admin team, but I am trying to turn this lump of coal that I call my heart, into a diamond. You are making it hard for me with the kindness.
By
Eville Admin, at 2/04/2005 12:26 AM
Thanks Deena for the summary. I was at work and couldn't chat. Maybe next week. Glad y'all had fun.
By
mk391419, at 2/04/2005 1:15 AM
Thanks for the recap. I came in late and then was distracted with lots of homework so I was just catching random bits of the conversation.
Brendan's got the right idea about staying away from the facebook, it's addictive...Although if he ever caves, I'm always willing to add him as a friend ;)
By
Jessie, at 2/04/2005 1:34 AM
Sorry this is kinda off-topic, but Ms Of Arc and I are looking for 1 or 2 more people for our team for the contest. Anyone? Newbies? We have a really sick idea! (AIM: Jayniners or Ms Of Arc)
By
Janine, at 2/04/2005 2:08 AM
Okay, I just have a quick question because I am missing out on all these fun little chats (I too will blame my school for that--die, UW, die...), but what's Brendan's deal with the facebook? And here's another one, why don't all of us on facebook get together there as well? Or am I just out of the loop?
And about his bed and sheets--am I the only one that got a little jealous, sitting here on my spring/air/dorm provided 'bed' ready to cry? Even in recaps, it sounded like heaven...
By
Jaclyn, at 2/04/2005 2:46 AM
thanks so much for the recap atrophy! it's nice to be able to read what went on during the chat since i couldn't be there myself. don't you just hate late night classes =P
By
Anonymous, at 2/04/2005 4:35 AM
morning ladies!
Atrophy - that was an awesome recap! very funny! ;)
Side note: I just wanted to let everyone in the blog know that I have nothing but love for you; all the ladies, Michelle, Brendan, Mrs. H, the Aunts, the fam...it has been nice blogging with you all...
This weekend I have a feeling that if the Eagles win, my house will be burned to the ground, and I will be tossed into the Schulykill River. And if they lose, my house will be burned to the ground, and I will be tossed into the Schuylkill River.
XOXO,
Lynea(swimphilly)
By
swimphilly78, at 2/04/2005 8:42 AM
Lynea,
Prior to the sacking and pillaging of the Main Line, I highly recommend heading out to your garage and inflating the raft you brought back from the beach house. Use that to ride up the river towards the Delaware. We New Jersey girls are familiar with pulling you Philadelphia ladies out of the water - we did it during the American Revolution and we still do it every darned summer on Long Beach Island. I'll leave a lantern, a blankie and a big pile of candy bars for you up the Water Gap towards the Poconos. Listen for the call of your childhood home, row in that direction!!!
I think if the Eagles win, every Jets fan I know here in NYC might about die of the envy.
I'm a little bit afraid of chat, I feel like that's as close as I might come to the time I saw New Kids on the Block @ Radio City in 1992, and a huge wave of women knocked over a police barricade and some cops when Jordan Knight walked by. There are some similarities.
DC
- P.S. My oldest stepsister went on to marry Mike McIntyre in 1997 ... one of Joey's older brother. So after surviving the 1992 mob, I danced with Joey at my sister's wedding, and got the up close look. Not so bad.
By
Dana Cara, at 2/04/2005 9:13 AM
*Hugs Lynea*
You keep us laughing here with all of your stories and great pictures. It's nice to know that you keep our guys on their toes. Thanks for taking the time to share and also listen to all our Bren love.
P.S.I have money on the Eagles winning so please don't cheer for them. ;)
By
blairbecky, at 2/04/2005 9:22 AM
Psst.. swimphillyDo not be alarmed. When you get home, you will find a box and instructions. An extraction team has been set up to remove you from your domicile should it be deemed necesarry, and bring you to a safe haven just south of Boston. In said box you will find black, heat sensored clothing and boots, infrared night vision goggles, and enough Jack to help calm you enough for the mission. You will also find a parachute and a special super hero hook gun which will allow you to attach yourself to the stealth bomber which will hover above to rescue you. You may bring one guest with you..although the agency does have a strong preference as to who said guest should be. ;)
Have no fear bloggers, you shall live to see swimphilly post again!
(Sorry, I've clearly watched one too many episodes of Alias lately haha)
By
Stephie Mc, at 2/04/2005 9:22 AM
you danced with Joey McIntyre.
NKOTB.
to this day, I would jump his bones. In fact, my mom found my poster of him over the holidays, and she put it back on my wall in my bedroom as a joke. Little does she know, it will remain there forever.
Ladies, your Brendan crushes would be eclipsed by my Joey obsession circa 1991.
I wonder if there is a Joey blog.
Thanks for rescuing me DC! too funny
I am really nervous for sunday though...
By
swimphilly78, at 2/04/2005 9:26 AM
as i was typing... i come back to find more funny posts ... thank you guys...this is making my morning fly by...
stephie, thats hilarious!
I am ready for my escape...I live one block from the parade route, btw. I want to park my car in a garage and pay the 100$ so it wont get flipped over...
Back to Brendan - BRENDAN, if you are a true philly fan, you will get your cute little hind parts up here ASAP!!!! Its madness...and you cant tell me there are crazy eagles fans in AUSTIN! bring aaron too.
By
swimphilly78, at 2/04/2005 9:36 AM
okay one more post then i'm done...
stephie, i will bring your man with me. he's fiesty though, I may require a stun gun...
By
swimphilly78, at 2/04/2005 9:40 AM
Lynea- I was going to ask if you needed to borrow my raft, but I guess you already have one if needed! If you need refuge, please come north and we will take care of you! No matter what happens on Sunday, every time I call home my mother is going to talk about the Patriots. It's slightly monotonous- Boston sports teams and snow are all I ever hear about from my lovely mother! Best of luck to you and your team...
DC- I can't believe you had to bring up the New Kids. You know I am traumatized by my Joey experience. Long story, I'll spare the other bloggers.
By
Heather, at 2/04/2005 9:52 AM
*scurries through inventory of spy mission gadgets*
Stun gun and handcuffs were located and are currently in transit via FedEx swimphilly But be gentle..don't want anyone getting hurt. ;) The agency appreciates your efforts.
By
Stephie Mc, at 2/04/2005 9:58 AM
Sorry for double posting just had to add:
Heather I had a traumatic Joey McIntyre incident too. Should we start a support group? I'll bring Finagle a Bagels to the meetings! =)

and this is wny, my love, we're soul sisters!!!
Listen, since teh plane ticket is not in the box and apparently I'm not catering the Pumkin Super Bowl Party you can escape to Buenos Aires. We'd go see some futbol and go teach the boys in Argentina what we have!
By
Lena, at 2/04/2005 10:25 AM
Thanks for the compliments, everyone!
And, Lynea, your fears of the Super Bowl outcome remind me of when the Super Bowl came to San Diego two years ago when the Raiders were playing... someone. I stayed in my apartment for fear of either the Raiders winning (and rioting and burning down San Diego as a result) or the Raiders losing (and rioting and burning down San Diego as a result). They lost, and San Diego managed to remain fire-free for about a year until "Firestorm 2003" happened. I bet the Raiders caused it.
I'm slightly too young to have the New Kids On The Block crush. I was all about Boyzone, who I'm sure no one has heard of.
By
a, at 2/04/2005 10:37 AM
Stephie- I do need a support group! Please bring many bagels. Rest assured, I did love the New Kids. I danced to their video, that I taped off the Disney Channel, every day in third grade. Still really wish I could do their flips... The traumatizing experience was that my mom approached Joey on my behalf, when I was 11, at church ON CHRISTMAS EVE. There are many details, but I am sure you can all imagine how horrified I was-
Lynea, I can see if she can work something out for you. He lives two blocks away from her!
Totally posting off topic today- sorry about that. I was at the chat and it was amusing, but my cold-medicined head was very overwhelmed!
By
Heather, at 2/04/2005 10:40 AM
Atrophy, I loved Boyzone too... they even came to Argentina. Ronan Keating singing "Father and Son"...
Lord, I'm old.
By
Lena, at 2/04/2005 10:42 AM
and I forgot to thank Atrophy for the chat summary! thank you!
By
Heather, at 2/04/2005 10:43 AM
swimphilly....you can join the NKOTB fan club that Jenny, lizook, and I have! I still have my Jordan Knight doll(sans the rat tail and earrings that my Mom tore out...she is a rat tail Gestapo )so bring your cassette tapes, your official NKOTB sleeping bag (I know you have one!) and join the party.
By
Kimberly, at 2/04/2005 10:56 AM
Sorry I missed the chat! And looks like I'll also be missing the A&M meet this weekend AND the Super Bowl Party- I'm headed out of town to attend a Super Bowl Party up in Indianapolis.
Brendan: why can't you go to a UT meet when I'm actually in town?!?
Also: there are a bunch of different Rudy's in town... which one is Brendan's haunt?
By
Texas-Gal, at 2/04/2005 10:57 AM
hey people...a NKOTB story for ya....I have Jordan Knight's actual cell phone number. Kate and I have actually talked to him on the phone, I kid not!! Long story, but a girl I work with...her sister is pretty good friends with him and she gave me the #. Just thought I would share that with u all. :)
Back then I loved Jon....wow they aren't really all that cute looking back on it. ah well...that's what we have the swimmers for. Peirsol I hope you read this...I will see ya both in Indy :) with kate.
Love U Guys, E

Elysha, at 2/04/2005 11:03 AM
you know, us women....it cracks me up.
I mean really...we got thru our whole lives with different crushes, idols, fantasies - when one fizzles we move right onto the next one, but the old ones are still there lurking - and it continues for life.
Let me explain...my mother is 50, she looks like she is 20. She still squeals like a schoolgirl when she sees Prince or Rod Stewart(dont ask i have no explantion) on TV...me growing up, it was Michael Mcdonald. She was/is a looney about him. How you can link the 3 of them I have NO clue.
I wont go into my aunt janine who is psychotic about Johny Reznick(GooGoo) and Eric Clapton. My granny is 75. She LOVES Allen Iverson - has posters, calendars, she wears his jersey, wakes up at 6am to watch ESPN for highlights...is this just my family? or does silly little crushes run thru everyone's female family members? I dont see my brother walking around wearing a Rebecca Lobo jersey, or my dad screaming in glee over Farrah Fawcett ....
I look at this blog sometimes and think, even though I dont particularly have a "crush" on Brendan, others yes...(Aaron, Lenny I'm looking at you here...) I do feel at home with everyone - we bond thru our schoolgirlcrazyteenidolness.
To sum up...I love you guys.
i'm bored today can you tell?
By
swimphilly78, at 2/04/2005 11:11 AM
My mom's crush is based more on voice than appearance. All she has to do is hear the first few seconds of a Barry White song and she's done. I think it is so cute. Maybe it's a voice thing because she also loves Josh Grobin. My mom is 57 and adores the guy.
Stephie, the escape plan is perfect....lol. By the way,I'm sure nothing bad would happen to Lyneas companion. Then again we could always stamp fragile on his cute behind just to make sure. :p
P.S. My mad crush was Leonardo Dicaprio. I didn't even watch Growing Pains really until he was on there. I also had a teensy thing for Ken Griffey Jr. Okay,it was a big thing,I admit it. I got two fish for one of my b-days which I named Ken and Griffey. Posters on walls and everything. I still have shoeboxes full of baseball cards. At least if I ever have a son I can pass them on.
By
blairbecky, at 2/04/2005 11:27 AM
swimphilly- its not just your family. My mom has the bizarre obsession with bald men. She is absolutely in love with Stanley Tucci. Interesting note: my dad still has a full head of hair and probably will for the rest of his life.
I <3 NKOTB. I thought I was going to marry Donny when I was younger.
topic? great recap Atrophy. I was there for some of the chat, but after a really long day I was just not awake enough to follow everyone's comments.
GO EAGLES!
By
pixley, at 2/04/2005 11:29 AM
Great job on the recap Atrophy! Brendan is really great for taking time out of his day to chat with us girls.
oh....Leonardo D. I just loved him on growing pains. And NKOTB, I was crazy about Joey too...it was the curly hair, I just can't resist it.
I love you girlies too....I can't tell you how many times that I will be having a bad day and can come on here and just start laughing out loud and it will turn my whole day around. Thanks for being great fans of Bren's and great Women who have girlie crushes.

Y'all are cracking me up with your schoolgirl crushes! I still get them too, but MrBeachGirl puts up with them and laughs at me, especially with the swimmerboys who are much younger than me! My worst one though was for Hanson--I was 25(!) when they first came out. That lasted for about 3 years. I was able to see them on their first concert tour. The end came while I was pregnant with my first child. I was trying to figure out how to see them live again, but the New Orleans concert was a few days before my due date and I wasn't sure if I'd be able to go. I was very sad. :( Also, a friend wanted me to go see Ricky Martin the same month and I had to decline. The bad part was that the baby came early! I could've gone to both! Arrrrggghh...

I tried to avoid the NKOTB addiction as long as I could. Even back then I was trying to buck the trends. But once I saw an article in the newspaper saying Jonathan and I had the same birthday (also Pixley's birthday), I knew he and I were soulmates. Darn him for never realizing it! LOL.

swimphilly - I searched for a Joey Mc blog but to no avail. He does leave audio messages on his official website though. Almost as good as having him sing "Please Don't Go Girl" to you! haha =)
And its definitely not just your family with the school girl crushes. My grandma would gladly take any one from the Colorado Avalanche. haha
Heather - I wish my trauma was caused by my parents, but nope..it's all on me. I am definitely bringing bagels to the support group meeting! =)
I honestly believe some of you all are my soul sisters. The things you say, your experiences, and your attractions to certain members of the male species are so eerily similar to myself sometimes that it's scary.
Any psych majors searching for a subject for their thesis could have a field day with our little blog world!

Thanks for the recap, Atrophy !
Just one thing, when daytripper asked what city was in his top ten (since Athens wasn't), he answered SPAIN; needless to say that made sis SpanishEyes and me sooooo happy!
Pumkin, next time you come to Spain let us know and we'll give you a tour and even go as far as to cook paella for you! Heh

*Group Hug* Stephie,I agree.
I was also a Joey fan and even had a the pin with his face on it.
Pssst...I also liked Nsync. I loved Chris for some odd reason. If you tell anyone I will deny it. You can't prove a thing. *Runs off to hide cd's*

swimphilly..
To answer your question, no it is not just your family! My Mom has a huge crush on Harrison Ford and Sean Connery. My grandma is in love with John Wayne, and all of my aunts are in love with different Osmond brothers..*cringe*. The funny thing is though, when my Grandma was here a few weeks ago, she was looking at the blog because she thinks that Brendan is the best swimmer! (good taste must be a family trait!) I told her all about this site and she said "awe he is such a cutie! Such a handsome man! When I showed her the site a picture of Cutie Mchottie popped up and she said and I quote "hubba hubba!" I thought I was going to die right in my room. I always figured a Hansen would be the end of me but not at the hands of my Grandma! Stephie you might want to watch out! LOL! OK that is just wrong. I must go scrub my brain with a brillow pad to erase the memory.

haha oh man. you girls are the best ever! I was definitely a NKOTK fan (and, BSB and NSync) Joey mac is adorable and i definitely used to have the Jordan Knight doll ;) I am also willing to admit that I do own all of Joey's solo CD's.
Stephie--I'm glad you sent lynea a get away pack, even though she hopefully wont need it because the eagles are going to win. I feel much better knowing that she has a safe way to get out of there :P

You ladies all make my day much more amusing! I adore you all! It's been the funniest day here. Eventhough I am having NKOTB flashbacks, it's great to hear your stories.
I also just had the strangest/funniest lunch experience, which I think you all might appreciate. I sat next to P. Diddy and his mom at lunch! He had a bunch of big bodyguards spread throughout the restaurant. Certainly made my Friday more interesting!

Lynea my mom is a huge Johnny Reznick (sp?) fan too...and she swoons over Tom Cruise.
OH and I know Sarah can relate a little to this one-I have an aunt who is crazy about Dale Earnhardt Jr....its bad, she has EVERYTHING with the #8 on it-no joke.
As for me, ever since the first Apprentice season I've had a big crush on Bill Rancic-the guy who won....:)
OH and can you girls believe my crazy mom actually asked me to go shopping on Sunday?!?! I was like " Are you crazy! On Superbowl Sunday....the Eagles are playing! I can't believe you asked that.."

Ha ha!! You ladies know nothing about love! Love=Nolan Ryan! He was the God of God's for me... (well Spitz too but I think Nolan was first.) I was such a little girl and my uncle would take me to see Angels games, because everyone else he knew loved the Dodgers (suck). Nolan Ryan was fierce, yo. (and yes he used to be an Angel) When my Mom asked me what magazine I wanted a subscription to: Teen Beat? Seventeen? No, Sports Illustrated please! I'm sure I didn't imagine this, but I remember reading that he took an exacto knife to any calluses on his hand before a game! ::swoon:: Then when I was a little older, I discovered his hottie son Reid! ::swoonagain::: Don't squick out, when you are talking about Gods it is okay to love the father and the son. And I just now remembered that Reid went to UT.... ahh my first UT crush. Sweet. We know who holds my UT heart now.... ::swoons/dies::

Heh, another NKOTB/BSB/random boyband fan over here. Sometimes you just have to give in to the cheesy pop music. I used to love Jon, and I met Jordan once too. Now I've moved on to hot talented swimmers! I can see myself having the same type of crushes even when I grow older. I guess that teenybopper part of me will never go away. =)

I didn't have boy band crushes, but I love Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom. Who doesn't?

CrAzY, at 2/04/2005 10:26 PM
I can relate to almost everything said in the last posts. I too get these crushes on weird celebrities and boybands (NSYNC)(NKOTB), mainly athletes.
Age 7 to current (Troy Aikman)
Age 14 to current (Lance Armstrong)
Age 12 to current (Cal Ripken Jr)
I love older pro-athletes what can I say?
Oooh and also Tom Hanks- what a MAN!
Girls do mature faster than guys...
Yes, I do creep myself out considering I could be most of their daughters but if Lance Armstrong ever wants a younger woman he knows where to find me.
