At the 2000 Olympic Trials, Brendan Hansen was heart-wrenchingly close to becoming an Olympian with not just one, but two third-place finishes in the breaststroke races. Disappointed but not defeated, Hansen embarked on a new chapter of his swimming career at the University of Texas with coach Eddie Reese. Over the next four years, Hansen found motivation in his shortfalls from 2000, and had one of the most successful college swimming careers of all time.Read More

Wow! Blogger finally decided to come and let me play! I just wanted to say thanks to Michelle for posting this (especially after that Cheato article) and thanks to the people at USA swimming. We need to see more articles like that about The Great Brendan Hansen ;)

I forget how impressive Bren's numbers are. When they show how he ranks next to the greats of swimming it reinforces how purely talented and dedicated Bren is.
