I have to comment on this one. Phil's quote about John is so well said and accurate! He started reporting Bren's freshman year in high school knowing nothing about swimming. When interviewing the swimmers John actually listened to the answer and respected the sport and the swimmer enough to learn it inside out and backwards. It was always a pleasure dealing with him.
Today, swim info is very fortunate to have such a devoted, intellegent sportswriter on their staff. I can honestly say today, John now knows more about the sport of swimming than I do.

Congrats John! Of course, we always knew you were the best. ;-)
I'm pleased to hear that 28 is considered young. How about 29? 30?

Hey everyone,
Just wanted to say thanks for the kind words from everyone. So far, the site has been going well. Definitely keeping me busy.
Everyone continues to make me laugh and can't wait to meet some of you in person in Montreal. That city won't know what hit it by the time we leave.
Hope you all have good weeks. The end of mine has me in my best friend's wedding, so that should be a blast.
Have fun.

Hey John It is gong to be so great to read your writing more often! I find my self at SwimInfo quite often so it is goign to make it so much more fun to have you there a lot. And we are gunna have the whole city of Montreal hooting "Smooooohoooookin'" by the time we leave for sure! Trials are in what, 18 days? That is so exciting!
I have been keeping an eye on the Aussie team to see what kind of times are posting, So far an Aussie open record was broken by Brenton Rickard 100m Breastroke at 1:00.64, but..... Bren is faster! The will be having the 50m Breast final in a few hours. Am I the only one who does this?
