Tickets for Montreal

Tickets go on sale Friday and I believe there is a 15% discount if we can purchase 20 or more at once, not to mention the additional benefit of sitting together. So who's going and needs tickets? And post which days you plan on attending (23rd - 1st for me). Also, several of us are looking into accomodations. Please let me know if you've found something fabulous you can share or are interested in sharing expenses with another BHOer. It's less than 4 months to Montreal!

    Do you know how giddy this post makes me? Montreal is like a little over three and a half months away!

    Ok, I'm planning on going. July 23-August 1. Haven't bought tickets or anythig else..but I'm going. I finally flat out asked my mom today, and she said yes, instead of just hinting that I can go.

    So excited, y'all!

    I'm also planning on going, and was holding off buying tickets till I knew who all were going. I hope to be there for the full time (23rd-1st). Count me in!

  • AH Montreal. Its coming up so soon!! I am so excited to finally meet a bunch of the girls who make this site so entertaining to visit!!
    Im volunteering from the 24th-31st. Ill be there the 22 through the 1.
    A good hotel is anything on Rene Levesque Blvd. or in that area. Very nice area, and decent priced hotels which are nice and in the middle of everything!
    Im staying at the Sheraton.

    Im so excited!! its coming up so soon!

  • I'm definitely going to try to go, maybe for the 2nd half? Haven't decided, but will shortly and definitely want to be in on group tix.

    BTW, if any of you have Verizon cell phones, I discovered that you can upgrade for a month to a plan that includes Canada (and Mexico). It's only maybe $10-20 more, depending on what you have now. Cool beans, would make it easier for us to stay in touch while we're there.

  • I have to make a US trip to attend an event this summer, and that's already draining my budget - but wouldn't mind at all to spend maybe 2 weeks or so in Canada - if I find any lo-lo student travel fare, that is :)
    ... will have to check !

    Btw, will the whole Trio compete at the Duel in the Pool ?

  • I foresee festive, strong, classy fun, and enough stories to fuel BHO for a year, at least. I work Montreal-born French Canadian girls who promise that the city is rock-star quality and that they will set me up with local recommendations. SO excited.

    I think Heather and I are Friday to Monday unless we can kidnap the others early and head up Thursday. I'm not extremely clear on how tickets work (good lord, how I miss my press creds). Event tix versus day tix versus packages? Michelle, I put it in your hands to tell me what the best thing to do is.

    P.S. I'm waiting by my mailbox for my $2 KK gift cert. My tummy grumbles for a strawberry frosted with sprinkles. ????? (KIDDING)

My family and I aren't going as long as we originally planned, my cuz didn't make 2 of her usual events so we're getting up to Canada on Wednesday and missing Brendan's 50 breast...I missed this event this past year too, o well. hope to see you there!

    -For those of you who are going, would anyone happen to be traveling from New York and leaving on the 24th or 25th? I was wondering if we could possibly travel together.

    -How is everyone planning to get to and from the airport to the hotel and to the World Championships?

    -If anyone is interested in sharing the cost of a hotel room, let me know.

  • I normally just lurk here, but I have to pop in to say that if Montreal is even *half* as fun as Indy, ya'll are going to have a blast!

    I just got back from Indy, so tomorrow is a day to go through the video (I got some cute stuff of Brendan and all the guys...although my camera work sucks. It's shaky) and pictures (thanks to Blair, who awesomely operated my camera!) but here is a little pic from the medal ceremony for the 200 breast to tide ya over. Not too exciting--I'm sure you've seen and heard all the stories/pics by now, but I thought put that up there.

    Before I forget, I did want to say a big, huge thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Hansen for just being really cool, funny, and sweet, and going out of their way to make us feel welcome. They certainly didn't have to do that, but they did, and I have a whole new respect for Brendan after seeing what an awesome family he comes from.

    I don't know if I'll make it to Montreal (as much as I do want to see Ian and Michael swim again....and not spaz in from of Ian, but that's a story for another time) but I don't know if I can or not. I'll have to see. But you guys will have a great time--that was probably the most fun vacation I've had, and I'm including things like trips to NYC and spring breaks in Florida!

  • andrea, I'm not sure about the location of the subways around the airport, but I can tell you, as someone who's been to Montreal a number of times (we drove there), that the best way to get around Montreal is by the subway. That's how my husband and I plan to get to and from the pool.

    Shannen is right, you all will have such a blast in Montreal! Indy was so much fun, I can imagine how much more fun it'll be at Worlds. It was great to meet everyone and put names to faces.

    Has anyone thought about renting a house in Montreal and splitting the cost for a few weeks for all of the BHOers that are attending Worlds? It would be awesome, kind of like the show "The Surreal Life" only with people that are way more intelligent, fun, and with considerably less silicone. I think it would be a blast!

    We came, we saw (we video'd, we photographed, we invited you out and loved it all) and you conquered all....but how about after turning us down for dinner and no showing on the chat (we understand you were tired: after all you did kick everyone's a** this past weekend) you throw us a bone and let us know how you thought the meet went. Its' only been a few days and those that saw you in INDY are already missing you.

    For the rest of you girls....wish me luck this weekend. I've got a Masters swim meet, and Im planning on wearing Ryan's cap...I will try to get a picture and send on to Michelle.
