U.S., Australia to Clash in the Second Annual "Duel in the Pool"
I just got in from Montreal and had to post before going to bed. We had such a great time - I don't think many of us were ready for it to be over and to go home. The Hansen's were very warm and gracious to all of us. John Lohn and Peter Bick were both total rockstars and I can't wait for another opportunity to hang out with them. All the girls from BHO were fabulous of course and so much fun to spend a week with. We are looking at World Cup in New York next and then Pan Pacs in Vancouver. I hope more of you are able to join us at one of those.

Pan Pacs in Vancouver, Canada? I hope it is the one. This might be my best chance to attend my very first swim meet! When will it be?

Great trip, great swimming, great people, and now I'm ready to crash, then rebound for Duel!
Rockstar John, I don't know how you turn out all these great articles and still find time to socialize. As promised, my post awaits your approval.

I'm glad you had a great time... If youb girls are up for the Pan American games in Rio de Janeiro in 2007, I'll be there. For the rest I don't know yet.
As for my account, I want to thank everyone who gather together to cheer online for Brendan and other favorites. You put up with my ramblings, my prayers and all that. And at the same time, thwere was an enviroment of joy and respect. I thank you for it.
Sila, Tink, Poppy, the European Legion, for stayiong up late cheerign and havign one eye on the TV and one on the screen to tell us what was happened. Sila, you're the new official BHO comment Woman.
The one who discovered teh link to the Hungarian Channel, I love you.
I'm glad to see our BHO girls got back in well shape. Now, come here and tell us all about it

I'm glad to hear that the rest of the week in Montreal went well--I wish I could have stayed until Sunday instead of leaving on Friday, but live and learn I suppose :-P I really enjoyed meeting you, Michelle, and all the other BHO girls, and the Hansen family was so warm and generous, you all were really a highlight of my trip! :) I have my fingers crossed for NY, I'm pretty sure I'll be there, and I'd love to see more of you guys again! And thanks for all the great articles, John!

World Cup in New York? Oooo, I may be able to swing that. Especially since we didn't get a vacation this summer and my mom feels bad about it....
By
lizook12, at 8/02/2005 9:29 AM
I am co-volunteering on behalf of Heather and also Lynea to provide agendas, recommendations, dinner reservations, etc. etc. for World Cup. As they said in the New York City 2012 Olympic ads plastered all over our subways/sidewalks(okay, granted it didn't work, no games for us, but anyway): "There will be friends, and friends of friends, to guide you." We would be happy to be those friends and friends of friends :)
Lovely meeting you all in Mtl, had an amazing time, start to finish. MICHELLE. YOU OUTDID YOURSELF. INCREDIBLE INCREDIBLE JOB.
Word from the reporter front is that John slept 10.5 hours last night and is settling in for his morning nap now, to be followed by some attempt to semiconsciously check Duel in the Pool and move his laundry to the dryer. Then he will enjoy his afternoon nap, and then early bedtime. I suppose that 102 (YES - 102) articles plus 9 full stories for Delco may have drained our sweet John Lohn. :)

Michelle, glad to see that you posted when you got home....I was thinking about you and wanted to make sure you arrived safe and sound....now the question is Lala arriving in CA then making it to Duel has anyone heard from her?
Alex, I hooked you up with a shirt please send your address to Michelle so that I can send it to you.
Montreal was a fun time with stands that were much better than Long Beach, I am glad to report. Just wanted to say to all the 'bho ladies' that I met, you made this a memorable trip and I really enjoyed getting to meet all of you.

Aunt K, at 8/02/2005 10:30 AM
Hi, y'all! It's been awhile since I last posted.
It seems you had a great time at the World's. I must agree, it ended way too soon for me as well - I'll miss staying up until 2 am. :-) Brendan was awsome to watch, and so were Ian and Aaron and Jason and Mike ... and I could go on for a bit more.
Some of you probably already know this: on the site of Dual in the pool are great audio clips from Brendan and Aaron. They talk about the meet, about stuff in their life ... And you can tell by the clip that Aaron is really a 'modest' guy. ;-)

HI PRETTY LADIES!!!!
i am in SUCH a funk today...sat thru a compliance meeting where all i thought about was ryan lochte's abs.
thank you guys for a wonderful time; the hansen clan, as always were outstanding. Michelle, you seriously have no idea how much YOU rock. John did a wonderful job, as did Peter Bick and it was wonderful to meet him, as well as some swimmers, swimmers parents(Mr. Jensen, not Mr. Larsen...whoopsy. I blame the Labatts) the three wandering speedo-clappers with the proton packs, and lastly, MONTREAL. what a killer city, eh?
CroatianWaterPoloOnline.com will be up and running shortly. Purrrrr. loved them!! ;)
anyway, all you ladies are adorable.
I'm now going to nurse my broken toe(dont ask) and then sit and wait for pics to be posted!!!
AND congrats to Brendan.
Have a good one kids!
xoxo

On the subject of Croatian Water Polo, their love affair with a certain Barbie-doll-like BHOer (she'll kill me. She will, she'll kill me. If I disappear from the blog, you know who did it.) and also the Greeks :) = Michelle, please stand by for pictures for the gallery. I'm sending them now :)

P.S. Miss Alex, did US Air ever find your suitcase? It amazed me how you kept your smiling game face on despite the circumstances!
P.P.S Carolina Blue, how did the interview go? Thinking about you today.
P.P.P.S. If we'd had three square inches of empty space in the Cherokee, we would've loaded up on Labatt's at the Duty Free, but it was not to be. The high point of our Canadian departure came at Customs: Our Canadian Border Patrol Agent, Beebie, asked if we had $10,000+ of merchandise plus alcohol in our car. Our reply: "Only in our dreams." He cracked up and waved us through. We then almost drove off without our IDs (classic). Speaking of cracked up, crackinup, can you please send your email addy to tiger480@gmail.com? I know you're at Dual right now though.

okay. I thought I posted earlier but I don't see it. So here goes again. Im glad that everyone is making it home safely and that everyone had such a great time.
we all knew that the hansen's, john and peter were rock stars, now they are international rock stars. THANKS for all the great pictures peter.
102 articles from john? I would believe it Dana, i kept busy reading them and watching OMEGA all week. They were all amazing, but you can feel the special love for brendan. :o)
I am eagerly awaiting pictures of BHO girls and hot swimmers. (oh and pics of yummy international water players will be accepted also, lynea)
girls that were there..tell all us that were stuck at work and weddings all about it.
World Cup - NYC - it's on. See ya'll there.
By
Kate, at 8/02/2005 11:04 AM
To reiterate everyone else, I had such an amazing time at Worlds. Thanks to Michelle and the Hansen family for making us all feel welcome. I loved hanging out with all the BHO gals, watching great swimming and sharing stories and laughs. You can bet I'll be at the New York World Cup and I'll be driving, so no lost luggage :-)
I can't wait to see everyone's pictures, since my camera was of course in the missing luggage. And to answer Dana's question, still no luggage, but now we're entering the hard core searching phase, so hopefully it'll turn up.

-You put up with my ramblings, my prayers and all that.-
Seriously, Lena, put up with? We enjoyed having you there, you're an amazing girl and one of the greatest persons here, we all love talking to you. :)
- Sila, Tink, Poppy, the European Legion, for stayiong up late cheerign and havign one eye on the TV and one on the screen to tell us what was happened. -
*grins* Well, as we were so brilliantly represented in Montreal by the BHO girls there we had to do something in return, right? Describing what is happening is hardly a great feat, though.
Aunt K: I talked to Lala very briefly and she said she was leaving in an hour for Duel, that's all I know, sorry.
By
Silawen, at 8/02/2005 12:35 PM
Hello all. I did arrive safely home. I am rested with the most sleep I have had in 10 days with 6.5 hours last night. Yes AuntK, I am very excited about the duel today.
I cant begin to tell you all how special this trip was to me. Swimming was great. Brendan was so generous with all his fans and when I say that I am not just talking about BHO girls. There were kids and strangers talking everywhere and I kept hearing his name even when a foreign language was spoken. Always from someone smiling. Kaitlin: So great and cute! Her high energy is infectious. Swimphilly: I am so sorry your toe is broken. I thought it was just bloodied. Peter: Supahstah and so generous. Jello: HE managed to do "it all" and still smile. (Did you know a man with a sunburn can blush?). My roomates: Perfection. Team Hansen: Wow. I had such a great time with all of you. I really enjoyed you all more than I can say. And thank you for being so open to all of us. Cutie and Stealth and the swimboys, the Aunts C, K and L. Megan "Little G",(you owe me a game.) Mr and MrsH: All hillarious and warm. Perfect combination. I really wish the Gpeeps could have made it. All the BHO girls I met: So much fun. I really felt like I was at a reunion of sorts even though this was our first meeting. Did I mention that the swimming was great too? I almost feel like I have to go to Summer Nationals now as well because I am not good at stopping anything cold turkey, and they are so close.
I don't have words to describe how fantastic this week was. I also can't tell you how amazing Michelle is. That is something that I hope you all get a chance to find out for yourselves.( and her son as his friend are hotties too btw and available, I understand.) Thank you to everyone who made this Championships so memorable. I keep catching myself smiling thinking about it. coughbabblebabblecough ::ahem:: I have to jump in the shower now and run off to the Duel. Ciao!

Lala! you lost a card? Did you remember the one that you left in your palm piliot?
I'd just like to say that Montreal was awesome, and an experience I will never forget. Everyone was 10 million times cooler in person than i had hoped for. All the BHO girls are kickass. I really cant even begin to say how awesome they really are. My roomates could not have been cooler for me. We had such a blast in our little suite. The Hansens are the most giving and warm family ever. Mr & Mrs H and the Aunts just opened their hearts to us and I'd really like to thank them for it. Meg-we never got to play that game of dominoes, we're gonan have to make it happen sometime soon. Stealth and Cutie are a riot. Jello, I don't know how you managed to keep up with us all, considering all the work that you were doing, but I really am glad you were able to. You're such a great guy. Peter Bick is a rockstar y'all. Seriously. Michelle- Everyone has to meet her to completely understand just how awesome this chick is. She's the real superstar of the bunch. Her son and his friend were cool guys as well.
I'm going to stop now before I take up the entire blog just saying how awesome everyone was. The swimming was awesome, the people were awesome, Brendan was the biggest sweetie ever, all in all it was a great time.
I'm so in for World Cup and Pan Pacs.
By
Sarah, at 8/02/2005 2:01 PM
Hey all. I haven't posted here in, like, six months, but I've been told that I need to again. :) I'll echo what everyone else said about Montreal; it really was a fabulous time with a lot of wonderful people.
I posted some pictures in my LJ but they're just me posing with swimmers. I left the pictures of the actual events to people with better cameras.
I'm definitely up for other BHO get-togethers. And Michelle? That Brendan wallpaper is coming up soon, really.

I just have to give some credit here to Peter. I was checking out the pictures posted in the gallery and there is one of MrsH as she is catching the flowers after the relay....damn Peter is good, how he got that picture is beyond me...
Lala, I am sure the card is somewhere amongst your things...I just know you did not lose it.

So I thought I was jealous of you ladies when you were IN Montreal. Now that I'm hearing all the stories and seeing all the pictures...I truly don't think I've ever been so envious. Ever. But I am super happy that everyone had such a rocking time!

molly_mormon88, at 8/02/2005 5:04 PM
Hi gang. I thought I would chime in on this one. What a week. Like John, I slept late today and plan to go to bed early tonight.
Alison and I shared a cab to the airport and her luggage woes rubbed off on me. Despite having a direct flight to Indy with a single stop in Detroit and checking in 3 hours early....you guessed it , no bags. Panic sets in because I have to check a fair amount of photo gear due to luggage restictions. Also, my 15 DvD' of image backups and 2 hard drives are in the cases. I thought I might have lost days 1 and 2.
This morning the bags showed up (Alison yours should be coming soon)so all is well.
The shooting was very good, being outdoors. The biggest issue was the lack of organization of how the photographers would access the venue. It was more like a police state and the photogs were terrorist suspects. I know this sounds harsh, but I have run the photography side of these events (as had sevral photographers in attendence) and it can be much better organized. End of rant.
Michelle, what can I say. You have built a community using the website. Amazing job and energy. It was great to meet many of the BHO people and see if the preconceived notions held true. as usual, some did and some did not. A lot of great people.
To the Hansen clan, thanks for sharing so much with this group and I am glad the week went so well for Brendan.
I hope to have a new page on the website for the event in the next few weeks. The US Gymnastics Championships are here next week and the Solheim Cup follows soon after that. No complaints here, these will be fun.
Cheers all,
Peter

Peter, Peter... have I told you lately that I love you?
Those pics of Bren's tattoo on his blade shoulder... thank you, seriously.
And what an amazing photographer you are. Any chance you want to drop by Argentina the weekend of August 12th and photograph archery finals? ... (had to try)
By
Lena, at 8/02/2005 5:48 PM
sounds like Montreal was a blast and it only convinces me that i will HAVE to make it to the next BHO extravaganza/swim meet. peter your pictures were definitely the best i've seen, and trust me i've done a lot of gettyimage searching.
good to see that everyone survived the bleachers, celebrating, travel, and swimmer's abs.
and come on more stories?
By
Anna, at 8/02/2005 6:04 PM
Since nobody replied... Maxine the Pan Pacs are in Vancouver, Canada August 17-20 of 2006. I've been been planning to go since I heard about it. Along with Spring Championships.
Glad y'all made the trip back from Montreal safely!
By
Jessie, at 8/02/2005 6:16 PM
Ok, so Duel in the pool is on now. Well done on the 100m breaststroke, Bren, by the way. Is there anyone who will provide us poor Euros with a link or tape it for us?
By
tinkerbell, at 8/02/2005 6:49 PM
Thanks to many of you for such nice comments.
Lena, I am afraid I cannot make the archery finals , as much as I would like to. The US Gymnastics Championships are at the same time.
Anna, The Getty shooters are a very good group. They had 4-5people in different positions so they will always get some good shots. One of their shooter was had his credentials confiscated and he went home on Tuesday for breaking many rules. Ouch.
Aunt K, if you are a total nerd and constantly look through the camera, you can get the flower catch shots. It really is not hard to do. Anticipation is the key to this game.
Later,
Digital Guy

Wow!! It really sounds like ya'll had an amazing time in Montreal. But how could you not...what with the Hansens, Peter, John, and of course Brendan and the rest of the swimmer hotness =D Now I have to make it to the next BHO gathering.
Peter, your pictures are incredible!! You're such an amazing photographer.
By
erin, at 8/02/2005 9:45 PM
Aahh Peter I think you are a rather modest photographer and by no means a 'nerd'. The picture of my sister catching the flowers just as they entered her hands (not to mention the fact that you did not know Bren was throwing them to her) the timing was incrediable. I will also point out a rather emotional moment that literally brought me to tears, when Bren came over and hugged his mom after the 100...You captured all of it...and those of you that were there know how she was feeling....for those that weren't there, you were able to actually see/feel through those pictures how intense that day was....and certainly not for the 'win' but for what an athlete goes through to achieve the win....and what a mom feels when her son has chosen to race against the best in the world. There was nothing 'nerdy' in any of these pictures. You captured wonderful moments from this meet.
But there is one picture I havent seen yet...maybe you can send that one....I'm a total softy when it comes to the little ones.

Aunt K, at 8/02/2005 10:10 PM
After two days of travel, it's my turn to chime in on the trip! Luckily I was able to not have any luggage problems, but sarah and I had quite the train ride back to NYC yesterday, so it's nice to be home, but I miss y'all already!
The trip was a blast. Everyone couldn't have been nicer. All the BHOers were total sweeties and were so much fun to hang out with. Special shout out to the best roomies evah! 324 representin'! The Hansens couldn't have been any sweeter. Thank you for helping make this trip so memorable. To Peter, your pictures were absolutely amazing and it was so great to meet you. To Jello, you were quite the rock star this trip. How you managed to write all those articles and still function amazes me. Hope that sunburn is finally healing. And a special thanks to Michelle, because without her, this never would have happened. You truly are amazing. <3
*starts going through withdrawl*

Im glad you guys had so much fun..but like erin mentioned it would be kind of hard not too with the Hansens,John,Peter, and the fellow BHOers there to make the experience that much more special.
Peter your pics were so great and touching.
I can't wait to hear all the stories from during the week and I am definately going to World Cup!
By
jenny, at 8/02/2005 10:22 PM
I just wanted to say hi to everyone. I had a great time in Montreal. I'd like to thank Michelle, the rest of the BHO crowd, and the Hansens for allowing me to become part of their group. I am looking forward to watching more swimming in the future. I will likely be at World Cup NY (I'm only a couple of hours away, why not?). I was at the previous World Cup in February and had a lot of fun.
Peter, I've been checking out your website...I love the penguins!
By
PFF, at 8/03/2005 10:04 AM
Whoo! I'm finally able to post on the whole Montreal experience. I had such a great time and met a great group of people.
First off,Meesh you are my hero. You brought us all together and made the whole experience great. My roomies were so sweet and it couldn't have worked out any better. You girls made me laugh so much and just made the trip that much better. To all the girls I met and got to meet again,I completely adore y'all. Hopefully next time we will get to spend more time hanging out. Peter and Jello were total sweethearts. You were both just as cool in person as you are on here.
Finally, thanks to the Hansen's for being so open and kind. Y'all are an incredible family and how much you love each other is so apparent. Thanks for treating us so well and not being too scared by how crazy we got...lol. I think all the bho'ers owe y'all a dinner next time we meet. :)
