Olympic FEVER!

It has begun! Ok, so which winter sport is most like swimming? Gotta be the speed skating. Hot boys in tight suits doing laps. And we have a Texas boy to cheer for in Chad Hedrick who got off to a great start today. Biathalon was this afternoon and I read a great quote that called it ski-by shooting. hahaha. Cracked me up.

As a BHO Public Service I'm posting some Olympic links here and just warning you all that it will be a frequent topic of conversation because I have Olympic addiction issues that I'm not ready to work through.

  • Yay the Olympics are back (Although I REALLY wish that these were the summer games!)! And that means that there's only 2 years until Beijing!

I hope Michelle Kwan can fight through her injuries and continue in Torino...And I can't wait for Jeremy Bloom (wink, wink)!

  • Oh I love the Winter Olympics!

I have a strange thing for Bode Biller!

My fave event in the Biathlon. Stamina and acuracy combined which makes it hard.

  • I'm especially excited to see the speed skating...only three more days!! I'm so excited.

I too also have a strange thing for Bode Miller...

  • Ooh, I'm on an Olympic buzz right now...I LOVE Apolo (who trains in the city I love in) and Jeremy Bloom(who's from Ft. Collins, a short drive from the place I live, too). I have a strange thing for Bode also, despite all the controversy surrounding him. Is it just me, or is he really cute? Anyone? Anyone?
I'm a figure skating freak, too. I was effing obsessed with Tara Lipinski back in 1998, and you know the Canadian pair team from 2002? Jamie Sale & David Pelletier? They're my favorite skaters of probably all time. I've also seen them skate live in Denver from on-ice seats, which means that we got about 30 feet away from them. We also got about 6 feet away from John Zimmerman, which is a different story for another day. :)
Okay, I'm starting to calm down now. It's just that whenever someone else starts talking about the same athletes that I love, I get super hyper, since my friends are all Olympics illiterate (so unfortunate, you know? It nearly brings me to tears when someone asks whether the Games this year or Summer or Winter). I hope my rants aren't too annoying, since it's only, um, day two. :P

  • John and I are nesting on the sectional right now watching speed skating. We have the electric blanket cranked up to HIGH (cold night in PA, all this snow!) and were feeling bad for ourselves until (1) we realized these skaters must be freezing in their spandex and (2) we have Omaha steaks defrosting and are preparing to feast. Yum.

    I [heart] the Olympics.

  • Mmmm, Chad Hedrick. Saw the race last night, that was an awesome race. I remember watching Eric Heiden in 1980, don't know if Chad can come close. But Chad'll be fun to watch.

And men's hockey starts soon, and I can't decide whether to root for the US and/or Canada. I may just have to cheer for both, even though my Canadian is on the taxi squad and probably won't play.

As you can tell, I just love boys on skates...

  • I have Chad Hedrick's race on tape, but I haven't watched it yet. My family likes him, being a fellow Texan (we lived there for a long time).
I have no idea how I'm going to tape all of this...and...wait...oh no! Bode Miller just lost medal contention (he's in 4th) in the downhill competition! Pooh. Well, he had a few more events to go, so I think we'll be seeing him on the medal stand eventually.
