thats the coolest thing I have since in a while I wish i could get that close to wildlife sometimes....not to shoot them...you guys are sick....peter"s my new hero....I saw the photos I feel like I have been to antarctica pretty sure i cant swim in those waters
Hey Brendan! Hahaha! I didn't think of you shooting them for one minute. Now it is all I can think of it and it is crackin me up. Maybe you should take a camera with you when you go hunting and take pictures of the deer you see. Another cool thing about those pictures is Peter said there have only ever been about 20,000 people there. But I could have those numbers wrong. I keep going back and looking at those pics. And no not just the swimming pics on his site.. but the wild animal pics. Really. I swear.
What an exciting life you have Peter where you get to travel to all these amazing places and take beautiful pictures. Good to hear from you Brendan. =)
All I can say is that life is what you make it. The opportunity to go to South Georgia, where that pic is from, came from a long time of planning, much like many would do for their interests.
I know Brendan has put in tremendous hours for his results, kt does not come overnight.
No, Brendan, you could not swim in those waters for long. Nor would we want you to. It is 30 degrees Farenheit and surival is calculated in minutes.
I hope everyone enjoys these pics and values the biologic diversity we have on this planet!
Ah hah! The first time I saw the penguin photos I remember thinking, "Wow those are closeup." I was trying to decide if Peter had an unbelievably good zoom lens or had the guts to stand inches from a swarm of penguins. Never did I guess that he had the guts to LIE DOWN with the penguins.
Peter, you are too awesome. And I echo your life philosophy.
Good to see you here Brendan, I'll gladly join you in lending Peter hero status -- I too felt like I went on that trip with him. Truly stunning.
Yeah, yeah. Brendan posts and suddenly everybody get's talkative. I thought you were all here for me, now I see how you really are. :p
Thanks to everyone who sent questions. Got lots of great ones today but there are still a few of you who haven't contributed, not that I'm naming any names..... coughAFadingVoiceGinaAllieLenaErinAtrophycough.
MICHELLE!!! I DEFINITELY sent you a question. Oh my goodness! haha. If you didn't get it, I'll re-send it. Actually, I'm gonna go re-send it regardless! ;)
Peter,if that penguin had gotten that close to me I don't think I would have been able to operate the camera. I probally would have just stared or ran it off by trying to play with it. I envy the job of photographing them but not the temps you had to work in. I'm not so crazy about all that cold and snow business.
Meesh,of course we come here for you. I'm still not sure who this Brendan guy is that everyone makes such a big deal over. ;)
I was just thinking about how happy I am that Vladislav Polyakov won the gold in the 200m Breast in Shanghai. I remember him being so thrilled in 2004 in Indy to get the silver that he practically jumped all over Brendan with excitement. And he is always so happy to advance. So good for him winning the gold.
