Congratulations to Laure Manadou for not only breaking a world record, but JANET EVAN'S world record...I can't wait to see what she can do to it in international competition...as well as the 800. I'll have to check out Scott's site. And only 7 days, and 57 minutes till Ann Arbor!!

I'm with Kate here, WOW! A little part of me thought that record would stand forever -- Janet Evans was always untouchable in my mind. (I realize that isn't realistic, she was just completely in her own class when she set that record.) Congrats to Laure on a huge achievement!

That is such exciting for Laure! She has been creeping up for a while now, what an accomplishment! When you see a record that stands so long you have to respect it. Especially when you see how far the gap is between some of Janet's records and some of the times being recorded today. When you see someone beat the field by a couple seconds and then see that they are still several seconds behind Janet, makes you think there must have been a typo. But no. She was that great.
