Looking to 2007

I just read an article at Swimming World Magazine, that got me really excited about the 2007 Season. I'm sure you have all looked at the list of teams, (I am not the only oen right?) but this article breaks down the hopes for the different meets. Of course Brendan factors highly in the dominance of Team USA.

The U.S. squad is also in good hands in the 100 and 200 breaststroke with Brendan Hansen and look for Cullen Jones to continue his meteoric rise and give reigning world champion Roland Schoeman all he can handle in the 50 freestyle. Expect Klete Keller to make medal runs in the 200 and 400 freestyles aside from handling the anchor duties on the 800 free relay.

It is an exciting read and goes on to talk of all the major meets that will be contested in the coming year. Included is the list of the swimmers who will be competing for USA at all the World Meets.

  • Great article but I wish it was a little bit more positive about our women...lol. I wonder why we aren't as strong on that side. It's kind of hard not to be strong on the men's side when they hold so many WR's in each speciality.

  • I don't think it is that the article is not positive about our women. It is just that that there are other teams with a bunch of really strong woman like the Aussies. And then the French have Laure Manaudou. And the German women have been making some huge marks. If you look at the number of world records to be set this year, you will see most of them have been set by women. Girl Power! And the majority of the others have been set by American men. Go USA!

  • I just meant that I wish that our girls looked to be just as competitive as the guys. I didn't think the article was talking bad about our women. I look forward to the day when they say our girls are much stronger than the guys. You know I truly believe us chicks are better at everything. I agree Lala...go USA!

  • The thing I love about all this is Whitney Myers factor. It shows that there are no givens and that someone can use a lot of heart and suprise us all. I cant find her world ranking prior to Pan Pacs, but she now knows that it feels like beat the person considered to be number one at the time. It can be looked at two ways. Either she is gunna be so hungry from now on that she will always be in that position, or you can look back and imagine how Katie Hoff is feeling in all this. I can see her working really hard to never be beaten again.
