USA Swimming to name Olympic Team coaches Friday
USA Swimming will announce the 2008 U.S. Olympic Swim Team men’s and women’s head coaches on Friday, Sept. 8 at a press conference at the highly-esteemed National Press Club in Washington, D.C. Mark Schubert, USA Swimming’s National Team head coach and general manager, will make the announcement live at 12:30 p.m. EST.
Following the press conference, both head coaches will join Schubert on a media conference call beginning at 2 p.m. EST. To listen to the call live, visit www.wcsn.com
But somewhere out there our own little bird Timmay found this scoop. Let's not squee prematurely but...
Texas coach Eddie Reese has been chosen to lead his third U.S. Olympic men's team. The coaches will be introduced Friday in Washington D.C.
This is looking fantastic for our Olympic hopes. Tune into the live for the official announcement to see if we can run amok.
Edited to add:
Reese, Bauerle Named U.S. Olympic Coaches
"Eddie Reese is without a doubt the best coach in America, if not the world," Schubert said. "No coach in recent memory has had three world record holders and three Olympic gold medalists in the same program. His job at the 2004 Olympics in Athens as the men's team head coach, and the success he's had since, made him the hands-down choice to lead our men's team in Beijing."
So Squeee!! Amok Amok Amok! Congratulations to Coaches Bauerle and Reese on their appointment. And Congrats to Team USA as well. You are in great hands!

Wow! congrats Eddie. this is so exciting.
No better guy for the job than the man Brendan, Ian, and Aaron trusts so much.
Beijing is going to be great.

There had been some talk that Bob Bowman could be chosen as head coach. With all the Longhorns VS Club Wolverine talk. But I think he has yet to prove himself with the Wolverines. After he has been there for a while and if the CW guys get faster, then he might be a good replacement for Eddie. But not until Eddie retires!
