Brendan's Greatest Hits cont.
And Kitajima in the news...
Second Day of Japan Open Closes With Eight Japanese Records
Kitajima winds up Japan Open with national records
Kitajima wins easily at Japan Open
To put this in a little perspective the last 200 Breast Short Course time we have from Brendan is an in season time of 1:53.78 at the Long Beach Grand Prix, Kitajima was at 2:04.96 here. Brendan's 100 time from the same meet was 52.81. Kitajima's winning time this weekend was a 58.34. Times are pretty even when converted but Brendan's times are from over a month ago and Kitajima is probably already in his taper for Worlds. As happy as Kitajima is with his performance it's looking like Brendan's toughest competitor at Worlds this year may be Texas teammate Eric Shanteau and Brenton Rickard who will be swimming with a home team advantage.

God, Meesh, why'd you have to pull that video out? Haha. One thing I have learned from all the video taping of races? I yell....a lot. That was such a good meet.
I do think you are right about Bren's competition though, Michelle. I really think that Brenton and Eric are going to be bigger threats to Bren at this point then Kitajima, unless he's been hiding something and/or really hits an amazing taper. He's at a much better place with his times this year than he has been at since the Olympics, but it's still no where near close enough to B-Han to be a challenge.

I totally believe that Brendan has this! And I agree with you about Rickard and Shanteau. But I do want to point out that Kitajima was swimming short course meters and Brendan was swimming short course yards. I stll think with the time adjustment that Brendan's times are spanking the heck out of Kitajima's. I am glad he is saying he doesn't see beating Brendan at Worlds. Because if he doesn't see it, no one else will. It does kind of make me a little sick to see him breaking Japanese records though.

Thanks for the reminder lala - I tried to make it more clear in my comments above. I don't have a SC meters time from Brendan this season for comparison.
