Semi-Final Results

Top Eight moving onto the Finals tomorrow night:

KITAJIMA Kosuke JPN 1:00.05
HANSEN Brendan USA 1:00.13
DALE OEN Alexander NOR 1:00.69
RICKARD Brenton AUS 1:00.87
DYMO Valeriy UKR 1:00.88
LISOGOR Oleg UKR 1:00.89
ALEXANDROV Mihail BUL 1:01.08
KOMORNIKOV Dmitry RUS 1:01.11

Brendan looked really relaxed for that last 25 meters so I think we'll see him going a fair bit faster in the final. Can't wait!

Four finals done and I'm already totally tanking with my predictions. Hope some of you are doing a lot better. You can find full results at Swimming World where Jason Marsteller and John Lohn are double-teaming to get some really good reports up supah-fast.

ETA: Swimming World has put up a nice little video interview with some of our favorite boys, including Brendan, talking about last nights swims and looking forward to tonight. Be sure to check it out.

World Championships: Kitajima, Hansen to Go Head-to-Head for 100 Breast Crown
"It didn't feel like a 1:00.1," Hansen said. "But it's not about the time right now. I feel like I'm getting better with each swim and tomorrow is looking good. I wasn't racing against anyone. Tomorrow, I'm going to go out and try to feed off the crowd."

Yakult anyone? World Champ Finals-Day One Wrap Up
Kosuke Kitajima (JPN) reminded Brendan Hansen (USA) why he's the Olympic champion as he out-touched Hansen 1:00.05 to 1:00.13 for the top spot heading into tomorrow's final. The two swam stroke for stroke all the way so it was hard to tell if Hansen was holding back a bit and letting Kitajima have this one; whatever the case, the final will be tight.

  • That last article was silly. Who cares what Kitijima did in the Olympics? What has he done since then? That's all I've got to say about that. :) Go Bren!

  • I did not read the entire article yet, just what Michelle posted, but I noticed the difference in the times between Prelims and Semi's....Bren you are swimming smart races!!!! Tomorrow you can just let it all out and do what you do best. Know that all of us that are sitting behind our computers are cheering you on and sending all of the positive energy your way.....So let it on out...and kick some a**.

  • Tomorrow's final will be exciting!!

Though I hate the time difference, so I don't know what time it will air here.

I'm also excited that Alex got in the top three. Wohoo, go my fellow Norwegian!

  • I'm with Aunt K here...looking at the times and everything, looks like Bren is doing it his way, and planning on showing all his cards in finals. I can't wait! The 5am wake ups are going to kill me, but they're going to be SO worth it. :)

  • Our DVR is loading up with the meet on FSN and Comcast SportsNet. I LOVE THIS. The coverage is startlingly good ...
Go Brendan. And go John ... I can't believe how fast they're getting results up --

  • Dana, you'll be happy to know I spoke with John last night. Poor baby was so tired. He looked about to fall over and he still had finals to do. You have him looking really great though! Married life sure seems to be agreeing with him!

Our swimmers did really well in prelims today with nearly all of the team making it to semis. Jessica Hardy and Tara Kirk both looked really great in the breaststroke heats. They shipped in a whole bunch of primary school kids in today to cheer and they did a great job too!

I'm getting ready for finals (doing laundry) and I'm feeling a ton of anticipation! It is very exciting and we will have flags tonight so that we can be seen! Go Brendan!

  • All I have to say is that John is kicking completely butt down there! I'm proud of him. Especially seeing as he hasn't gotten a whole lot of sleep around all of this.
