Evening Prelims are Hell on Earth...
Having now experienced 2.5 days of morning finals I have to give it a thumbs down. Speaking solely from a fan POV, morning finals lack excitement and enthusiasm and it's damn near torture to sit through 4-5 hours of prelims at the end of a long day - I can only imagine what it's like for the swimmers. The big guys seem to be doing a little better than the rest at dropping their times from prelims to finals but for the most part finals have been a good deal slower than prelims and swimmers and crowd alike are moving around like a bunch of people who just woke up. It's going to take more than some loud music to get everyone pumped up and ready to go.
So, aside from that, looking at the positives...the results may show this meet as one ruled by Wolverines but for some of us it's been all about Ryan Lochte's suit and his issues with it. I've never seen a swimmer spend so much time adjusting himself on deck. It's a great looking suit though - a shade of white that seems lit from within and it says Brazil on the butt in blue. The price one pays for fashion.

Another highlight has been the appearance of the littlest Vanderkaay, Dane.

A future Michigan swimmer you think? Certainly the cutest Vanderkaay so far.
For those of you looking for things like results and split times, you can find them at Swimming World and USA Swimming. In all honesty, the only swim that had any excitement was the 400 Medley Relay where Michigan's Allison Schmitt had an amazing final leg to give Wolverines the win over Georgia.

how cute is he?! aww Lil' Vanderkaay. Eventhough he's jailbait, he's a cutie. I see a bit of a Peter resemblance.

HAHA! I heart Ryan. He is definately an individual and not afraid to be himself. That's cool.
That suit sure is somethin'...and the more Vanderkaays the better I say.

Hey everyone,
Our assistant newsmaster Erin Greene is at the meet. She's probably hanging out at press row. Peter met her so far.
Go say hi!

Well Jason, some of us are lowly fans and don't get to go to "press row", so she might just have to step down and say hello to us, I swear we won't bite. Just ask John...... I really enjoyed her coverage of the meet. Lots of color! Also it is goood to remind me of the prelim result which were so hard to follow because they WERE IN THE EVENING! Me <---- not bitter.
The little Vanderkaay really is a cutie. Sweet face as you can well see.
We went driving around bit today into Timmay's town where each o fus found a house we would love to live in. Michelle and I chose houses across the street from each other while Blair asked to see the farthest neighborhood from the one we picked. I wonder what she meant by that...
It is very very strange for me to be at a meet where the only Pac-10 swimmers are the transplants to Club Wolverine. But what is most missing is BHan! He really makes it hard to watch breaststroke races that he is not in. I guess this love of the country out here means I will have to do it agian sometime. Dang it, more travel!

Awww Dane! In my mind he was like 13! Can't believe he's at the meet competing with Alex and Peter.
It is weird to see so many CW names on the heat sheet but I guess it should be expected. Too bad about Lochte pulling out of the meet.
Not completely true about the Pac-10 swimmers lala. Kim Jasmer is from UW, though it looks like she's unattached.
Based on the few pics you're posting I can't wait till you guys upload the rest! Hope you're all having a good time!

Thanks Jessie for pointing out Kim Jasmer. There are a couple of UCLA girls here too. I guess I could have worded it better by saying that there are very few Pac10 swimmers, and it it strange to see so many Big10(11) swimmers. Just saying I miss my local conference.
About Ryan's departure from the meet: He left to do a clinic in Chicago from what I understand.
I guess the upside of morning finals is that we will be done before noon today.

Jason, John - which one of you did Lochte steal that suit from? ;)
P.S. That suit and the grills would've made ESPN Page 2. I'm positive.

You are killing me! Not sure I could fit in that little thing Lochte was wearing!
But, yes, I have to agree - add some grills to that mix and it is definitely Page 2.
I wonder if Lochte could do some exhibition swim with grills on! Is that even legal? *grin*
How's the new house?

Nobody's mentioned it or not... but I wanna know if that white suit turned pink like the ones the Texas swimmers wore earlier in the year (or maybe last year?).

No Jessie, that suit definitely stayed white. Very, very white.
