Summer Nationals

Since there seems to be a fair size group of you planning to attend Summer Nationals I think I'll go ahead and add it to the BHO Get Together schedule of events in the sidebar and start a thread with hotel and meet info to help you guys organize (that would be THIS thread). It really can save you a great deal of money to hook up and room together, not to mention it's always so much more fun as a group event than on your own. Unfortunately, it falls during the time I'll be in Italy this summer and I won't be able to attend (I know, how dreadful for me ;) but I've heard from at least 4 of you who are saving your pennies now and I believe Peter will be shooting the meet as it's in his hometown so that's five already.

Official host hotel info, as well as alternatives.
Official Meet Book from USA Swimming - this has the schedule of events and such.
Volunteer Info - those of you going might want to consider signing up to volunteer.

I can kind of help y'all out initially but it would be great if one of you would like to take control of getting a count of who is going and wants roomies and make hotel reservations, etc. Once I'm gone June 5th, I'm not sure how much help I can be.

  • Hi John! Mrs. H believes that Brendan will be there - not sure about Mike if he is doing Mare Nostrum, but I can't imagine he wouldn't do a meet so close to home if he's in the country. I tend to doubt it will be televised - maybe WCSN will carry it?

  • Well,I'll be there too. :) It would be kind of silly for me to miss a meet that close to where I live. Hopefully I will see alot of y'all there. So we have Jason going...who else? Don't y'all want to come see me...lol?

  • Well if I can be of any help to anyone MrH and I are going to this one as well. My niece is swimming in this meet as well for Penn State so I get to see two breaststrokers.
    Jason, I hope I have the opportunity to meet you and your wife. I have read alot about you. Sorry we will miss you, John.

  • Darn, I wish I could go to this one-- I had so much fun last year. But, that's when our family will be on vacation (which I'm also looking forward to), so I'll miss out. I'm looking foward to hearing the stories, though.

  • I'm definitely looking forward to meeting everyone. My wife and I lived in Bloomington, which is only 45 mins south of Indy, so I'm not sure how much my wife will be around the venue. This is the first time we have ever been able to take her along on a business trip. So, it will be interesting how we handle it. *grin*

    At worst, depending on the workload, we're all going to have to do a dinner or something.

    Mrs. H, I was new to the magazine last summer, so I kept a pretty low profile and just worked. This year, I really plan on getting out to meet everyone I can. I'll look forward to meeting you.

  • Man, stop it you guys! I have a whole bunch of plans possible that week, and had pretty much decided that Nationals wasn't going to happen for me. Way to make my decission that much harder... *sigh*

  • I called the Radisson to make a reservation for ACL this morning (toooo expensive, no thanks) and talked to Chappy. He said he'd be there and his parents too. This is looking like it's going to be a great meet. I just wish it were 2 weeks later.

  • Hi all. I am often on the LOC for meets in Indy.

    Miriam, send me your nieces name so I can be sure to get shots of her. I probably already have some but never enough.

    Looks like a fun time.

    See you all in Indy. let me know if your are brave enough to visit the catwalk...60 feet above the water..

  • If I'm crazy enough to pull the infamous jumpstart butt sit off the 10-meter platform at IU's pool, I'd be fine checking out the catwalk.

    I've always wanted to check out a catwalk like that.

    If I can break away, I'm definitely taking you up on the offer!

  • Hey, Erin, you out of Texas, Wow can you handle it? hahaha That is awesome you can go. Can't wait to see you again.

    Peter, my niece's name is Caitlin Meehan. She is a breaststroker as well. Look for her in the 100 and 200. My god what else, right! She may be doing the IM. As far as the catwalk....hahaha not me, but maybe Buzz, I am afraid of being up that high. I like both feet on the ground thank you very much.

    Jason, dinner sounds good. This is a nice and relaxing meet. One I will not be freaked out about. So we can all have a good time.

  • Lohner is very sleepy on the couch right now (we moved into our new house this weekend - yay!) ... I just asked him, "Lohner, are we going to Indianapolis?" He said "yes." Personally on top of all of this meet's appeal, I'm psyched to meet Marsteller's wife. :)
