TGIF!

It's a beautiful day here in Cortona, Italy. I'm done with classes for the week and enjoying some pear gelato in the common room. I hope you guys had as good a week as I've had.

From Craig Lord at SwimNews.com - Kitajima Throws Down Gauntlet - At His Own feet
Kosuke Kitajima has thrown down the gauntlet - at his own feet. The Olympic champion over 100 and 200m breaststroke has declared his intention to break at least one of Brendan Hanson's world records at the Japan Open International in August.

Good luck with that Kosuke (no, not really).

Also, a couple of new photos from Brendan's Uncle "A" added to the gallery...

Brendan's 5 year old cousin Brooke intimidates her competition with intense concentration on the blocks. Of her butterfly stroke Uncle "A" says, "it's more a controlled drowning". Sounds a lot like MY butterfly stroke.

  • o... Kosuke is delirious now. Go figure.
Good luck with trying, KK, cause I really don't think you'll make it.

I'm glad you're having a great time Meesh! Any cute men at sight? My week was fun, hectic, but fun. I spent my evenings experimenting with cooking and new recipes.

  • "Controlled drowning" hee! I've seen little ones do the butterfly--it does look like that. That picture is adorable.

Glad you are having a good time Michelle!

  • Controlled drowning? That is so cute of a picture! The controlled drowning sounds like what I call diving from the 10-meter. Suicide with a softer landing.

  • Glad to hear you're having fun in Italy Michelle! The gelato sounds yummy, I'm so jealous. That picture is so cute! A future Olympian perhaps? :)

  • Well, controlled drowning or not if she can make it all the way across doing fly than she has my respect...lol. Very cute pic! Thanks for sharing Uncle A.

I wouldn't expect anything less than Kosuke saying that. He has to be feeling alot of pressure to do something great since he hasn't done much since Athens. I think the closer we get to the Olympics the more you are going to hear about it.

  • Sorry, Michelle, your pear gelato may be good......but nothing beats out my coconut ice cream in Jamaica. God, I miss that stuff. Good to hear from you.

Brookie...you look like a champ with that expression on your face....Go get em girl...hahahhaha.

You are right Blair, here we gooooo. It is not even 2008 and it is starting already. Where are my pills. hehehehe JK

  • Don't worry Mrs H. We have plenty of time to get ready: get the pills, get the alcohol, get the volunteers to hold your hand, get the banners. We have an entire year to prepare. We'll be ready for Beijing and this time, KK would not know what scissor kick kicked him in the rearend.

Now I'm craving icecream!! I don't care we are in the middle of the winter, I'm so getting a banana split tonight.

And that picture is incredibly sweet! More Hansens to keep the legacy alive and running for years to come!

  • "It's really a severe hurdle to clear, but so far as I'm in a position to set a new record, I'll do my best to do it. Otherwise, I can't be a contender in the Olympics," Kitajima told a Tokyo press gathering.

I'm glad he knows it will take a World record to beat B ever again. He is also visualizing himself not being a contender.. I love that. I think it is really cool that he still sees himself chasing Brendan. Which is good cause Bren has such nice feet. May KK always be staring at them as he swims.

Brooke looks like she is ready to tear that pool up.. She has a very intense look there! She is adorable, and looks to be serious competition. Thanks for sharing the photo UncleA.

  • Seems like Kitajima is already intimidated by Brendan....very interesting.

    Brooke's picture is soooo adorable!!
