Brendan Hansen Makes History... Again!!
So you all know Brendan Hansen is a double world record holder. And World Champion Breaststroker several times over. Historically other men have been able to say the same. But not this time. This one is only his.
Last night Brendan Hansen became the first person in history to swim under one minute in all four strokes (100 Back, 100 Fly, 100 Breast and 100 Free)in a 50 meter pool. His prelim time yesterday in the backstroke of 1:00.41 showed that he was going to be close. The backstroke was the only event left that he had yet to prove.
So as Brendan took the blocks in the B final of the 100 Back, the announcer told the crowd what was about to happen. I'll bet it was the first time in history a B final had such crowd support! His time of 59.98 sealed his place in the books.
Congratulations Brendan! This one was completely unexpected and unanticipated. You make it so easy to be your fan.

That's a very interesting record to hold...I've never really thought about that before, but that shows how good he is at all strokes. Congratulations!

Man, that is impressive. How about swimming the 400 IM???
At the Short Course Swimming Championships in Austin this year we saw Aaron swim well in everything except breastroke, he could also be an awesome IM'er if Brendan coached him in breastroke.
Cannot wait for the Nationals!
In the meantime, Lena's fiance, Ariel Bilbao is in the fencing competition for Argentina at the Pan Am Games in Rio. Competition begins on July 24. Cheer him on!

Wow, what a cool accomplishment and piece of trivia! I wonder if that will ever be achieved by someone other than a breaststroker.
Peter, I love the way you think. While we're hypothesizing, could you get Natalie Coughlin to swim the 200 IM? I don't know how she could possibly not set records left and right in that event.

Hey, Lena, we certainly will cheer Ariel on.....When does he compete?
Thanks for filling us in on that one Peter. I have been following our Texas swimmers there now. It will be fun to be able to follow something else for a change.
Tim, how did you like the camp? Learn a lot? Was it worth it? Would you do it again? Are you ready to compete in the Nationals?

Hey Mrs. H., Great idea on Natalie. I agree that she would set some records. We will have to talk with Teri McKeever on that one.

I'm still overwhelmed by Brendan's achievement. I am.
Peter, Mrs H., thank you so much for the cupport. Archery competition goes from July 24th til July 28th and I have jitters. I'm not travelling to Rio with him, so expect me to be a wreck next week.

Ahh, Lena, I can identify with you and the jitters. Try and be calm, he will need that from you to help him stay grounded.
Thanks for giving us the dates to follow along. This is exciting!
