More Results from the Dutch Open and NBAC's Christmas Meet

50 Fly winner...Joe Bartoch (24.34)
50 & 100 Free winner...Brent Hayden (22.23)

And if that weren't enough to make it a great couple days of swimming, we've also got the 50 free silver going to Duje Draganja (22.38) and Peiter VDH picking up the silver in the 100m (48.78) bronze in the 50 at 22.51.

Daren Mew won yesterdays 50 Breast final in 28.13 and Mathieu Bois (28.44) and Scott Dickens (29.05) of Canada finished 3rd and 7th respectively.

Randall Bal tied his own American Record in the 100 back today with a time of 24.84, and Keith Beavers won the 400 IM in 4:19.53.

For some reason after all that was done they switched over to short course format and the women's team from the Netherlands broke Australia's World Record in the 400m free relay.

Over at NBAC's Christmas meet Katie Hoff decided to break a few American Records - the 500 free (4:30.47), the 1000 (9:10.77) the 200 IM (1:53.77) and the 400 IM (4:00.66). Not bad work for a couple days work Katie!

All this good news calls for some celebratory behavior I think. Here's Italian sprinter Massimiliano Rosolino (best name in swimming) doing a little number with his partner, and his girlfriend now too apparently, from the show "Ballando con le Stelle" (Italy's Dancing with the Stars). This is just an exhibition. Unfortunately all the show videos are offline now :( ...

Tear it up Massi!

Final Day of Namesnik has come to an end...

I have to admit that Blair and I skipped prelims last night in favor of Shrek 3. We did make it for finals this morning though and there were a few fun races to watch. It's always great to see Mike swim the mile. Last year he looked like he might throw up on the pool deck when it was over but this year he was obviously improved finishing 2nd to Vendt with Margalis finishing 3rd.

Another race we really enjoyed was the ladies 200 fly. Jemma Lowe from the Welsh team not only set a new pool record but a new Welsh National record in a really gutsy swim out touching Kim Vandenberg and Kaitlin Sandeno who finished 2nd and 3rd respectively.

In other races Peter Vanderkaay took the 100 Free, Chris DeJong the 200 Back and Katie Hoff the 200 Breast. You can find full results at Swimming World Magazine and USA Swimming.

I'm posting a few pics here on the blog for now and will add more to the Gallery when I get home and have a chance to sort through them all. Peter Bick was a rockstar and let me borrow one of his big lenses and even hooked me up to some strobes during today's relay so I got some nice shots. It's been fun hanging out with Blair, Lala, Peter and Tim again and going to the Dairy Barn in Milan (Tim's hometown) yesterday afternoon for a belated Birthday celebration. Tim's family has graciously invited us all over for dinner tonight and then we all head home in the morning. Ann Arbor is such a beautiful town that I almost wish I could stay a few more days and see more of it. There's always next year!
